This guy seems like a kind soul
adrian Titera reminds me of Mr Rogers.. LOL
+adrian Titera He has kind eyes. (and voice. and gestures).
+DJ BIS Yes to all of that. I'm kind of reliving every high school teacher (and uni professor) crush I ever had through these videos :'-)
Tricia Caulfield
He's Totally your type, eh?
+DJ BIS Not in a dating sense - I never dated any of my teachers either ;p
If this guy was any more laid back he'd fall over.
lmao!!
Appreciate Video! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you tried - Proutklarton Protecting Aqua Plan (google it)? It is a great one of a kind guide for getting prepared for a mega drought minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work colleague finally got amazing results with it.
hahahahahahahaha
He has good posture lol
Kudos for the video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Proutklarton Protecting Aqua Plan (just google it)? It is an awesome exclusive guide for getting prepared for a mega drought without the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my good mate called Gray got excellent success with it.
His voice and style of explaining kinda matchup with the background music
Ikr. It's like they searched for a background music that matched the person explaining...
Have you ever noticed how in horror movies the background music always matches how creepy the scene is? Fucking magic man.
barizzy772 why do they have expiration dates on water?
He is literally Joe Pera from AdultSwim 😂
i love how awkward he is lol
Kalani Adams It's not awkward not having a status quo personality, he's probably just accustomed to being quiet because he can't have a stimulating (intellectual) chat with the average docile person you might meet in public.
Isn't that what awkward means? Lacking the ability to interact normally socially.
I love it when this guy presents, he has such a chill demeanor and calming voice.
Why does it hurt to drink cold water?
What kind of hurt? Like, in your teeth? In your head? In your chest?
Maybe the nerves in your throat are a little extra-sensitive to temperature.
why does water burn coming out of my dick hole
you have to thaw it first
why does 100°C water burn my throat when i drink it?
Josh is soooo laid back. Love it! Keep it up.
This guy is hilarious, I love listening to him. He has such a dry humor
if you eat your arm do you have more muscle or less muscle
Less. Your body doesn't convert incoming nutrients into muscle efficiently enough to make up for the loss.
I love that question
So, you're telling me Jeepers Creepers isn't real?
less
it depends on which arm
i like this guy he doesn't try to be excited like the others hes more laid back
A breathe of fresh air.
video starts at 2:46
this guys personality is like a box of crayons
YoungBlaze Of Chitown a box of white crayons
what does that mean?
really I'm not a native english speaker :)
+tourniqut
I don't even know, and I'm a native one.
well whens the last time a box of crayons spoke to you
This guy is adorable. :-)
haha I'm not the only one who thought it!
ikr
That's what I thought too...
Kai Shadowninja ohhh hell noo yall fuckers gay... let me get off this channel
HA GAAAAAAAAY
why does 100°C water burn my throat when i drink it?
L3G. 100°C sounds like a hot temperature.
Hot = Burn
Water goes in through the throat hole.
Therefore, Hot + Water = Burn throat.
Indeed keep dat wata out a dat throat hole.
its already became a steam however.
Cyber Knight thank you! from now on i will only drink 99°C water! thanks for saving my throat!
Ninjaman17 so i can put 100°c water in all other holes?
I love how calm this is!
haha this guy is awesome. "I've got a lot of interesting things to say and maybe I'll just kinda... meh. maybe I'll tell you some of these things in a nonchalant way. like, hey, that's just the way it goes... if you kinda care about stuff"
I love this guy's style. Laid back, entertaining and informative.
Is it just me or is this guy adorable when he talks about science lol
Am i the only one that thinks this dude is funny as shit hahaha
I liked and subscribed all because you actually brought up the water leaching BPA, etc from the plastic. Thank you for not leaving the stuff out that matters ;)
Water's been here since the earth was made, so I'm pretty sure it won't go bad. We just clean it over and over again. Kind of weird knowing your water has been through ... everything.
Water hasn't been here since the earth was made. Also since it isn't an element it will change forms alot instead just going through people.
K463178 your fuckin stupid water has been here since earth was created
juggalo4life WiCkEd cLoWn Go read a book.
Go read a book? XD thats the best u got
K463178 oxygen and hydrogen have. watermolecules in the form of watervapour too. just the amount changed over time because of acretion.
So if i put a bottle of water in a giant pool of soda itll dupe the flavor? Ill never have to buy more soda again :D
no
yeah but water is more expensive then soda. Makes you imagine the quality of the water in a coca, don't it ?
Austin Cain it would work if you poured the water into the soda, but then youd just have soda.
Water is free, only stupid people buy bottled water, I'd rather walk a few blocks until I find a drinking water fountain, than to drop 1-3 buck on fucking water.
iStrong if you're lucky enough to have a well, the it is "free". Just requires a small amount of electricity to run the pump.
Water doesn't go bad. It only accumulates contaminates.
+Warndog which means it went bad. for a food to go bad people assumes it just means "it decayed", but water is pretty simple, cannot go bad on its own, like you said it accumulates contaminates which is pretty much the same thing at the end of the day.
Yea that's true to a point. But then again, the water itself is fine and the contaminates can be extracted. In the end the actual water stays unchanged.
Warndog it does tho my water bottle was left on the side of my room half way filled for a month and I was thirsty and I open it it smells terrible I taste it it tastes like sink water X.X
this guy would have made an awesome doctor. His voice is so calming, Plus he is very intelligent
***** I Wonder what has brought on such a scathing remark?
Note to person in this video: Put some fucking energy into bro...
I actually like how laid back he is.
I like his style as well. Too many vids (not just in the channel) have people who constantly talk with their hands and make faces as they over enunciate every 5th word that it starts to get annoying.
To each their own... If thats his style and it works for him then thats great! I just found it a bit dry. I imagined while watching what a few hours of him would be like. lol
Hey, go fuck yourself
supermastergod ooo look at the big guy right here.
Lets say you managed to create a glass container, fill it with water, and then seal it with more glass so the only way to open it would be to break it. Would that water ever develope a weird taste or "go bad"? Besides of course the glass shards when you break it.
***** Sounds sexy
Anthony Batista if there's no algae growing inside
Thanks for that, New Jersey... might have to use your brainstuff next time.
First of all, thank you for all of your incredible videos. I really mean that. BUT............ the one thing I wanted to REALLY know you touched on at the end but never fleshed it out. What happens, say, if you open a 16 ounce bottle of water, take a swig and then close it? What would be the shelf life in that scenario? Also, I guess you would have to take in consideration if the bottle was left out afterwards or put immediately into the refrigerator? Thank you!
Hey hey! Once you've put your mouth on a water bottle, there's going to be some saliva and bacteria in there. Even if you close it back up, the bacteria can start multiplying. Putting it in the fridge would help prevent them from growing. You probably wouldn't need to worry too much about drinking from this kind of thing either way -- it proooobably wouldn't make you sick. But it definitely wouldn't be as clean as a sealed bottle of water.
Since water sort of absorbs chemicals from plastics, how possible is it to absorb similar chemicals from the metal pipes in our water systems? In which case, which is more harmful, water stored in plastic bottles or water stored in metal pipes?
Sidenote: Here in India, we have a tradition of storing water in Copper utensils overnight (at least) before consuming it (They say it is good for your body). When my mom came to know about it, she god a bunch of copper cans to drink water from.
I'm assuming it's ok becasue the water is always flowing? I could be wrong lol
Thanks New Jersey for making me want an expiration date on my bottled water.
Not once did he recommend water should be stored in glass or any other non plastic container. There are still ignorant people out there that need that information for optimum health including him.
Yes you have a very good point.
+Peter Caulton Why recommend what is very difficult or impossible for people to do, when the risk being avoided is very negligible? I have never seen water in glass containers in the at stores where I live. While I haven't went shopping for any, I assume glass containers are expressive to buy and expensive to ship. More likely that not a plastic product is use to seal the jug or jar. Stored water for emergencies is hopefully for a short time use, and is essential, I feel it unreasonable to focus any hazards from plastic.
+waswestkan Really? I collect my drinking water from a natural spring and store it in empty wine bottles that have screw top lids. If you care about your health you can do that too. Glass is reusable and eco friendly. Tell your supermarket that you will no longer buy water in plastic bottles and call your local water authority and tell them to supply you with healthy drinkable water from your house supply or you will lower your contributions to their supply.
+Peter Caulton good for you man A+
+Peter Caulton yeah it don't work like that where I'm from bud, we drink recycled poop water
Greetings. i have a question. You mentioned that water bottled in a plastic container is bad since the plastic diffuses into the water. would it be better if we store the water in a glass bottle? since glass does not diffuse as much as plastic? maybe in pottery? thank you for your kind attention.
Thanks a lot New Jersey!
I love this guy :D
he sounds like he just had a stroke
what an eye opener! thank you for knowledge.
I would like to see more of these videos
Dude looks like Christian Bale.
his voice is equivalent to that of an orchestra of dirt on the ground
thanks for the video, I have question; can white rice go bad if stored in plasic container with air adsorption packet and with a seal tight cap and kept in cool dry dark place?
haha this guy is so chilled. Love it.
Recently recommended video anyone?!
Sam Wayne
yeah this was on my recommend list
Water has been around for an exponential amount of millennia. If it spoiled, we'd all be dead, or would've adapted to it.
That's a malapropism of exponential.
Wrong. Water on earth constantly goes through a cleansing cycle of evaporation and condensation (simple folk call it rain). Still water can easily become dangerously contaminated.
Dan-Ari Feinberg But it never "spoils". You want contaminated water? Try drinking the toilet water that you just laid some personal mud in and see if you don't die a painful and horrible death with an awful taste in you mouth.
This dude cracks me up. Please explain more things, papi
Awesome, thanks
are the people in the videos professional actors? that guy from scishow knows how to provide some commentary proper gud.

Here in Germany the expiration date printed on a bottle is not the expiration date of the water, but the expiration date of the bottle itself
helps me understand quite well
Does this mean that the safest way to store water is a closed, GLASS container?
Exactly. You can often taste the difference just drinking from glass too.
***** Also plastic releases estrogen... messes up men's hormones and makes alpha males into feminine males.
hehe, in germany we have also glass bottles :P
tehfutureawesome
Probably not estrogen. More likely some form of antiandrogen i'd imagine.
tehfutureawesome "Estrogen", well, iron my neck and call me Nancy, I never knew an lifeless bottle could produce sexual hormones.
I heard someone said that water dispenser has lots of germs and people should drink boiled water instead of bottled water. Is it true?
We'll look into it! That sounds like a good topic for future episode.
Few people die from water dispensers in the millions of offices. We breathe contamination all the time. Fumes, spores, pollen, chemicals, dust, viruses and bacteria and dead cells. It's not that we shouldn't drink container water because of health, our bodies have defence mechanisms it is just the psychological ewww factor you talk about.
He reminds me of Sandra Bullock, I guess it's the way he talks and somewhat his voice! Love this channel and the people!
Aseptic water kept properly will stay aseptic… Septic water might become more OR less septic in any conditions…
Drain water is either sceptic or toxic…
But you know when you leave water in a plastic bottle in a hot car? After a while it tastes really weird, something that you most likely don't want to drink. So whats going on there?
probably just the plastics leaching(seeping) into the water like he said
I think that is the bacteria. Bacteria reproduce much faster under higher temperatures.
I know this is a very old video, but what happens if you say, refill a plastic 5L water bottle with filtered water, and then store that for 2-3years or so? Is the plastic contents more harmful? Would it be better to use metal containers?
Glass is usually the safest for storing liquids long-term.
BrainStuff - HowStuffWorks
Thanks for that, I'll be throwing those away
+Kining Roseburg It is why chemists use glass beakers to store things
Thomas Dank engine Yeah I was just wondering how long it could last in a plastic bottle, our water usually cuts out for no reason and then it's good to have a backup supply, but if it's going to be dangerous to store backup water in plastic I'll rather try and find glass containers
Remember, the bottle and the water are completely sterile when they place it in. If you say, drink from the bottle, lightly rinse it then refill it, there will be bacteria left and may go bad.
a friend of mine was at a sporting event and she bought bottled water from a near by supermarket and she got sick from that apparently. something to do with it sitting there for to long
Hey it's Josh Clark from StuffYouShouldKnow, awesome podcast right there.
I would watch any video where this guy teaches stuff, I think.
Damn you, I just spent half an hour watching and clicking and watching and clicking and watching and clicking.
That's what I'm here for
He is adorably awkward. It reminds me of watching my husband teach...LOLOLOL!
I'm always hearing about plastic.. But what about glass? I have a glass bottle, could I put water in there for a few years?
Well only if it is sealed shut. (Ik I am late by 4 years)
What an odd ball. Love ya man
Hi! I have a question. If you pour tap water into a jug that is chlorinated and then you just screw a cap on it, how long is it good for?
Ever heard of glass bottles?
Alex Mc IKR
So... In the car in the full sun for 2 years is ok?
FoodOnCrack just do it
Leaving water out in the sun is how some people sterilize their water.
It works if the container doesn't leach. Best if also transparent.
I love the way this guy talks and explains things :D
What if you keep water in a proper tumbler and left it in the car, with weather in asia, after couple of days there's bound to be some vapourization in the bottle itself, and we can observe droplets on the side of the bottle. Is this still good to drink?
my mom says not to drink an opened bottled water inside a hot/warm car?
why does she say that and is my mom right or wrong??
We'll look into it!
yeah i did watch but the difference is that an open water bottled is not exposed to any type of algae and etc..
The heat will cause some parts of the plastic to fall in to the water, and plastic is cancerous.
Vineeth Joseph the reason that bottled water left in heat smell weird is because the plastic melted and mixed with the water
BrainStuff - HowStuffWorks so the leeching is the answer why for example coka cola tastes different/better in glass bottle vs can and plastic bottle?
Good question. We think this article might help answer it.
www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2009-07/why-does-coke-glass-bottle-plastic-bottle-and-aluminum-can-taste-different
p.s. coke bottled in mexico is the best coke. ever.
+anivin or just coke bottled in every other country in the worst pretty much, most of us dont use high fructose corn syrup XP
Kigasho true
+Kigasho Coke and all sodas rot your teeth and gut and lead to diabetes.
I fill glass jars with filtered tap water and leave them on my counter for a few days and use as needed.
The jars have lids but they are not sealed air tight. Is this ok?
This guy reminds me A LOT of Toby Flenderson.
OK.. i'm really too much of a nerd... time wise this video is 3:14.. lol NICE. And the subject of the video is also well done.
Wow you're so awkward and that makes you 10x cuter! So how do I get all the plastic out of me? -paranoid
I agree. It's pretty endearing XD
Moar pls =3
I have just started storing regular untreated well water down in my basement on a table using old milk jugs, how long will it keep and would it be safe to drink? If not what can I use to treat the water so I could drink it? Thanks!
I have indeed wondered why there's an expiration date on gallon water jugs and this helped answer it! :D
Is it worth the extra money to store my water in glass containers?
absolutely . Like he said its hard to get those chemicals out of your system and every bottle leaks chemicals .
imsolive89
"...every PLASTIC bottle leaks chemicals."
yeah i think they got that
This guy a stoner?
all my bottled water (in plastic) looks like it was crushed in some kind of pressure chamber...what's up with that? (all are unopened). i don't want to throw them away because...water doesn't go bad..but..it definitely seems unappealing so i keep it around "in case of emergencies" (not sure what.. like a tiny fire but there's no water pressure at the time?)
Very true, though it would be great to go a bit more into detail.
Water doesn't go bad because whenever you think of things "going bad" you generally picture an apple or some leftovers getting moldy and gross. When organic material like that "goes bad" it's because it's being consumed by bacteria, yeast, and other teeny tiny things, which are actually breaking it down bit-by-bit and changing it on a microscopic level-- like yeast chewing up all the tiny sugars that make up the structure of that organic material.
Water on the other hand, H2O, doesn't get consumed by microbes in this way. It's not comprised of organic matter, it's just a Hydrogen and 2 Oxygen atoms. It only SEEMS to "go bad" from our macroscopic perspective because what we see is a change in the entirety of the stuff in our container; observable changes like those that are happening thanks to dust flecks and hairs getting stuck to the surface, and the algae, mosquito larvae, etc. mentioned in this video. However, the actual individual microscopic bits of H2O doesn't get consumed and changed by bacteria, yeast, etc. as we see with organic compounds like sugars, proteins, starches, etc. which is how it differs. It helps to examine and understand what's going on when something "goes bad" in accordance with common parlance. ;)
I was kinda hoping you guys would have explained it from this perspective, but great video nonetheless! I really hope you revisit this some day and give a more granular supplemental recap. :D
My sister got food poisoning (can you call it that when you are talking about a liquid?) when she drank some water from a previously used bottle that had been standing in her room over the Christmas holidays.
Because it was a previously used bottle it had bacteria in it, and the bacteria had multiplied and thrived in the water inside the bottle, making her sick when she drank it.
what about re-bottled water? Bottled water from the sink or even a filtered natural spring water (I go up the mountain an get mine from nature then I filter it at home), so no air tight factory seal but I would still like to store it long term
This host is the best!!!
Okay well that is good to know. I did have a question : How long a standing water stays good in one of those one cup coffee makes ? Hubby got one of those and it has the water tank on the side and the water just sits there not hot nor cold...for who knows how long. He just keeps adding new water from the faucet. I don't want to drink it because all I can think is slimy water. Can that water go bad ? or am I just being weird & crazy. Also I moved it to another spot in the kitchen and now it ends up getting afternoon sunlight right on the tank...that can't be good ? Any information on my problem would be really helpful ! Thank you.
a few days :? does 1 or 2 days count? cuz i have a big bottle that i like refill every 3 times a day? tho over night. its also not closed
What about boiled water that is room temp in a dispenser?
How long will it stay purified?
Thanks
I still have a bottle of water from 2008 that expires in 2011 or 2012 (I don't remember). It's good to know I can still drink that water if I want to.
And if you are wondering, I kept that water as memorabilia. I can get pretty sentimental about objects I have at home. And as of right now I'm still trying to get rid of that habit.
Habit of holding on to things, I mean.
onion holders exist by the way. in the south most kitchens come equipped with what appears to be a small wooden two drawer dresser, one drawer is larger and holds potatoes, the other is larger and holds onions. The drawers are usually woodburned with labels for each.
i don't have the perfect space to sore water can i just get the bottle of water and put it in the garage? do you think the water can go bad if is expose to all climates, summer and winter? thanks
as a guy who is kinda prepping, I just wanna say thank you for this video! subbed! coz I need my daily dose of SCIENCE
Another great video, I'm already subscribed. My question is , how does water stagnate?
I've seen a electrical experiment where they insert two node connected to either side of the battery and place in water and after some time water starts decomposing it's because it's breaking the bond of hydrogen and oxygen I was hoping this would be covered in the video
Is it safer to store cartons of water (now sold in stores) rather than plastic in your car? Living in California, I keep water in my car but would like to know the safest way to do this.
so if i store water in empty, say coke or milk bottles, would it still be drinkable, or would it still be affected my germs and stuff because it isn't airtight?
is there any filter which could remove the plastic from the water ?
I pour tap water into a bottle. Drink it and it's nice and fresh. Also cold. Seal the cap on and leave it next to the bed for about a week. Apart from being room temperature warm it has a weird flat taste. Like it's gone stagnant or lost all it's air or something
i love this man
this guy makes me scratch my head his so chilll
This guy is so chill 😌
Great video.
As someone who lives in NJ, i didnt know this....interesting.
this guy's awesome
You are the most unique video host I've ever seen. It's a compliment...
Josh, u didn't mention something I recently read...to not leave bottled water in ur car to get HOT, it's unhealthy.
It's the leeching process sped up by heat. You'll just get cancer faster that way, so whatever.
