Come on BBC! If your output is so great, and you cater for everyone, then it should be able to stand on its merits. Scrap the licence and introduce a subscription-based service instead, then you'll discover how cherished you really are.
Why is the BBC permitted to make private companies that then make content for the BBC? They use the BBC name and logo! The income and profits go to share holders. Not to the BBC that you pay your licence fee to!
They are REQUIRED to make money from none british broadcasters and from non broadcast activities SPECIFICALLY to minimise the licence fee..... pick ONE criticism hate licence free or hate BBC reducing the licence fee - you don't get to whinge about both unless you either can't count or are just a meaningless troll.
I thought the licence fee was purely that, a 'licence' which is to use the air waves that are required for the purpose of getting through to your TV set. This is how I understood it back in the 70s.
My savings started last month and the money is being banged into my pension pot... Ooh I do feel better for stopping paying. I get a warm feeling all over. Just wish I'd done it before.
My Mum paid the TV licence extortion for years for fear of being prosecuted. My Dad sat in front of the TV but wasn't watching it specifically. He was comforted by the noise and the moving pictures, he never knew what the program was about. When he died My Mum watched the TV for company. She never watched the news because it makes you miserable. She only watched repeats of old TV series because it was comfortable. So she never watched live TV but on her meagre pension she paid the licence fee out of fear. Ain't that nice of these people. What they to the vulnerable? Am I right?
I totally agree my mum is the same she has paid it for years even though she told them she doesn't have any live tv or has never watched BBC I player. They bullied her buy saying you have a tv so you have to pay or we can take you to court.
I am here for almost 9 years... I did my research, also your channel did help me for that, and never ever I payed TV licence. I don't need it and easily I am up to date what is happening around. I even today done a huge presentation about TV licence today and many people where shocked that they are paying for something they don't even need. Thank you for everything that you do.
Shouldn't you call the BBC "far left-wing BBC" or "left-wing BBC"?" This is more accurate. Plus, the BBC calls everyone they disagree with "far right."
Both extremes - bot the far left and your far right incessantly complain about BBC bias - when they are all crying about how badly done by they are I KNOW the BBC is balanced. If anyone of you ever thanked the BBC I'd worry about impartiality.
Great work CJC. Please warn folk about the BBC's upcoming 'debate' on the future of the licence fee. They are already conditioning the public to the idea that this is something they should participate in. They can then steer it in the direction they want by having control of the agenda. As you have said, this tax has run it's course and just needs termination. No ' debate ' , no ' progressive' alternatives.
Nice one Chilli lad. There are people struggling to pay for food - so if they don't need to pay for a TV licence then why should they. You're making a massive positive difference to people's lives 👏 keep it going.
Well I'm now in my third licence fee year. Just had my 21st threatogram letter, a "will you be in on the 5th" one. Don't get Goons round my area much, a bit rural, but I'm ready to shut my door in one's face if one calls. I'm in my 70s and keep spreading the word round about how to become licence free.
Got a letter to the legal occupier, "Are you going to be in on the 29th March? - we will be visiting" I waited in all day! No show, but I was looking forward to the visit.. lol
Hope many sheep keep paying to be honest,...If they lose too much revenue they will get the government to put a tax on broadband,... Then we are all screwed.
When I brought a tv licence, it was on 28th October (a few years ago) but they for some reason start the licence from the first of month, so when My licence needed renewing I started getting letters from September, and A FINAL REMINDER a few days before the end of September stating my licence needed renewing from 1st October, so i payed for a year and only got just over 11 months
It shouldn’t include Sky or Virgin TV because those are broadcasts behind a paywall. Same for Now TV which streams Sky channels live, but again is behind a paywall. You’re already paying for it, you shouldn’t have to pay it again.
I can't understand why the other channels like ITV and so on aren't taking the BBC to court for losing them business. I don't watch any of them, either broadcasting or online, because I refuse to pay the licence fee but want to stay legal. I can't be the only person who doesn't watch the other channels precisely for this reason, therefore those channels are losing business they might otherwise have had, but for the BBC.
Completely agree. I cancelled Sky TV about 6 months ago and one of the reasons I gave them was that I couldn’t justify the high TV licence cost. I only had Sky for F1, the only live TV I watched, and having to pay the £160+ to the BBC on top of Sky is ridiculous.
You make a good point, the consequence of persevering with this failing system is that the BBC is not only killing itself but all the other channels as well.
just completed 4 years of no licence paying. Will be renewing my "No licence needed" declaration next month. Wont ever be paying the BBC again . I've stopped watching live Tv. Never watch BBC now anyway.- or any other Tv for that matter.
Just want to point out that tv licensing have a list of addresses you can request to be put on so you don't even have to do the reminder that you don't need a license after 3 years. They will try to say that they have to do reminders every 3 years but that's a lie. They are glorified sales staff. You just need tell them that you know the rules now and that's why ur declining to get a tv license and that understanding will not change in 3 years time. So to out you on the do not contact list and that you will contact them if your circumstances change. But there is a do not contact list they have that they don't like telling people. I'm on it myself and have not had even the 3 year renewal. I hope this helps people
They might be preparing the way for ads, but they'll still demand you pay the licence fee. People in Ireland have to pay a fee AND suffer commercial breaks while they're watching TV (I'm not sure whether RTE radio also has ads).
I disagree with the idea of making the wealthy pay more for a tv licence. Just because someone is rich they shouldn't have to pay more for the same service.
Cancelled license, sold my set and switched off from the bbc well over a decade ago. I did enjoy Detectorists but that was because some kind person uploaded the whole lot onto yt for free. There should be a clause against repeats qualifying as live tv as folk have already technically paid for it.
Was a bit disappointed to read the title of this one - hate to hear of a win for the BBC, but was just commenting on another video that as the true meaning of April Fool's Day is said to be one of renewal and new beginnings, the outcome of this could be very interesting. I'm thinking the end of TVL perhaps? 🤔😄
Stopped watching tv and paying 4 years ago as I couldn't stand the propaganda being spouted by the BBC. Dkn't miss it at all but it is cksting me more in art and craft supplies which now fills my time.
I had yet another letter from the goons last week "will you be in on the 29th of March" was in the window of the envelope in red, that will make it 5 of those letters in a year and they never turn up. I haven't paid the fee for 15 years there is nothing the BBC produce I want to watch, and do not forget you are also paying for ITV, ch4 and ch5. The companies that advertise on tv add on a certain amount to the products you buy to cover the cost of the adverts, it might not be much, but, you are still paying for it.
The BBC's total revenue to March 2023 was £5.7 billion, or $7.1 billion. To put that in perspective, in 2023 Hollywood made 88 movies at an average cost of $65 million, totalling $5.7 billion.
I stopped paying years ago. To be honest, I think I'd miss their really threatening letters now. Who doesn't want to be threatened with disproportionate fines or being taken to court every few weeks??
What gets me is you get the “do you have a TV licence yes or no” then it doesn’t ask for proof. That would be so easy to sort add a code or bbc channels don’t appear. Job done.
Great show as always. I can't believe the money the BBC rake in, and they still have the audacity to complain it's never enough.. Glad I stopped last year..
I'm hoping that over the last 10 years , or so, 'THEY' will refund me for the years that I have not agreed to pay for my licence for something that I have not agreed to pay for....
What’s the point in watching live TV and paying the BBC tax, we watched the whole series of Mr Bates on ITV X all in one go, not live and some episodes before they were even aired. The BBC are churning out crap looking at their schedule so no thanks BBC you don't deserve my custom
There are pro-BBC trolls that deliberately argue against this kind of content. It is as simple as you explain. No viewing of live broadcasts (through any source) and no iPlayer means no requirement for a TV licence.
It's been an anachronism for decades by this point in time. My own feeling is that the TVL fee as it stands, is on it's last legs. I'm going to be a selfish old fart and say I couldn't care less what they replace it with. Because I won't be paying it.

The wording on the old TV licence actually said “You MUST Have a licence If you have any equipment in yr home capable of receiving a TV broadcast. “Capable” Not actually watching it, just owning a TV or any other device!? that is Discusting!
I am really glad the tax increased today, means I am saving more money. I don’t require a license, because I don’t watch live terrestrial tv, or BBC iplayer.
My latest scare letter, had in the clear window section, " will you be at home on the 5th of April" inside, the letter warned I was going to get a visit, soon or near that date 😂

£3.74 Billion - that's £374 thousand million - What makes you think BBC can exist on that, it's loaded with Gary types and they all need salaries
That's just the income from licence fees. If their finance people can't keep the corporation's finances in the black when they have billions to work with, there's something seriously wrong going on.
The first figure is revenue from the licence fee, but it isn't 374 thousand million. That is over 10 times the budget for defence!

Come on BBC! If your output is so great, and you cater for everyone, then it should be able to stand on its merits. Scrap the licence and introduce a subscription-based service instead, then you'll discover how cherished you really are.
They will never go to a subscription style model as they know that their funding would stop over night, and that terrifies them
The tax is to cover their pensions and to keep them as the mouthpiece for the government

I've always seen the TV Licence as a subscription. I don't subscribe, so I pay nothing. And that's it.
I thought the licence fee was purely that, a 'licence' which is to use the air waves that are required for the purpose of getting through to your TV set. This is how I understood it back in the 70s.
@@Harassed247 The only terms of the licence is that you pay it. So exactly the same as a subscription. No different.

Those repeats of Dad's Army don't pay for themselves you know!
Yes true it’s endless repeats!
Dad’s Army was alright, 30 years ago.
Hi John, I have noticed over the last week, watching utube, it has bbc, promoting some things, as an advert. Totally taking the hiss.
Or anti british puplic BBC

Bigger saving for me … don’t pay … watch anyway … 😂
But isn’t the BBC a left wing cultural Marxist channel? Are you a communist?
A BBC advertised on gold TV so why can't they advertise on the other channels...
Got a letter to the legal occupier, "Are you going to be in on the 29th March? - we will be visiting"
I waited in all day! No show, but I was looking forward to the visit.. lol
I had that. Told them yes and went out for the day. Don't know if they called or not
I had that letter and waited for the goons but they did not turn up on the specified date.

Well Corbyn wanted to give you all free broadband. But you voted to get brexit done with Johnson. How’s that working out for you?
Hi every one.😊😊😊
Hello
When I brought a tv licence, it was on 28th October (a few years ago) but they for some reason start the licence from the first of month, so when My licence needed renewing I started getting letters from September, and A FINAL REMINDER a few days before the end of September stating my licence needed renewing from 1st October, so i payed for a year and only got just over 11 months
they need the money to pay Gary Lineker
Yes also Alan Shearers...
I hope this helps people
Yep I never got a reminder think the goon sorted it for me 😊
@laceandwhisky good on ya! I hope other people learn they can do the same! We can only try let people know we've done it so they can too
Do you think that the BBC are getting us ready for ads, by showing all these ads for BBC programs?
Why don't Americans have to pay for BBC America?
Imagine trying to tell them they have to pay a 'being alive tax' to englaza! 😆
I'm 4 years, with out a licence, still, under investigation, good luck with that bbc, ( and i genuinely do not need a licence ).
Interesting facts! 😮
Job done.
Fuck the tv licence
Great show as always. I can't believe the money the BBC rake in, and they still have the audacity to complain it's never enough.. Glad I stopped last year..
Like lotteries, it's a tax on stupid people.
It's better that way, because I don't have to pay it.
I am Seriously thinking about cancelling my licence but a few years back was unjustly fined for NOT having one! The wording on the old TV licence actually said “You MUST Have a licence If you have any equipment in yr home capable of receiving a TV broadcast. “Capable” Not actually watching it, just owning a TV or any other device!? that is Discusting!
Yay, I'm saving even more money now.
I am really glad the tax increased today, means I am saving more money. I don’t require a license, because I don’t watch live terrestrial tv, or BBC iplayer.

Yes even there are thousands of weather report presenters!
A brilliant rant, your best yet. Like the added info on the commercial aspects of the Beeb.
They'll try and make the homeless pay it next!
My latest scare letter, had in the clear window section, " will you be at home on the 5th of April" inside, the letter warned I was going to get a visit, soon or near that date 😂
I am Saving More Money now then well done me, four years now this year best thing I ever Did ,I have been asked if I am in on the 5th of this month for a visit, Yes I am I broke my Hip,I have a doorbell camera so no opening the door any way ,So Mr Reinforcement Officer you will have a wasted Trip
I also got a letter telling me someone's going to visit me on April 5th. I don't open the door to strangers, so he (it'll probably be a bloke) will have to stand there like a spare one at a wedding.
They always say will you be in but never turn up
Why would anyone bother cancelling? Just stop paying it and ignore their communications. Simple.
You know what really gets my blood boiling... there are several David Attenborough videos on the USA version of Netflix that are not on the UK version... Piss take.

Totally agree with everything you've said here Jon. Not had a licence since 2011 and never had any correspondence since around 2006. Bliss!
so.. let me get this straight....
the BBC want to go to a system where you pay according to your income
who the bloody hell do they think they are to demand such information?
and more over.. why the fu** would you give an 'entertainment' company details of your house hold income????

Haven't had TV licence for about 4 years now and just watch streaming or catch-up channels. If they try and change it to another tax I'll refuse to pay it and would go to prison if required. I refuse to pay towards propaganda I disagree with. Time the BBC went to a subscription fee, make those who agree with the BBC politics pay for it.
