I love hearing stories like this. I am a firm believer there has been a shift since 2012 where we are all realising that this way of living, career focus is NOT how we find fulfillment in life. It's through self awareness and contribution to our community that these things come and Virginia is on top of it!
This is just so perfectly holistic- the spiritual and the physical uniting to create hope for humanity. There is so much potential in this space you have created, Virginia. Please keep it up!
Unwrapping this topic is so incredibly brave and I am so sure that perhaps ex colleagues of hers would see something like this and turn their nose up. The humility and empathy that comes along with such a perspective is so rare but so beautiful. I hope she leads the way for others in her profession
Absolutely revolutionary perspective in the lawyers field! I absolutely agree that emotional aspects are so important that when a problem is "resolved" without taking them into consideration, it doesn't really resolve the issue, the root cause of the issue. Taking approach as per Virginia' s suggestion would make a huge and fundamental change in the system. Thank you Virginia for being brave to go up there and represent the humane approach! Loved it!
@@chinadiggs543 Thank-you so much! It is time we took a different approach to our conflicts. The old way of doing things just doesn't work any longer. :)
I keep hearing Yoga as this magical practice. Really seems to bring a lot of people "Home" with more understanding and purpose in their life. Virginia is a perfect example, this is a mighty topic.
I couldn't help but chuckle at what took her on this journey but after watching this whole thing through... Wow. Like, this is a really amazing story and perspective.
6:55 where she talks about the unconscious perceptions and invalidating emotional experiences hit me. These are terms that come up so often in modern lingo, but I have never heard of a lawyer acknowledging so honestly the importance of these things. I feel so….validated ;)
Kudos to this woman! Definitely a conversation that should have been had a long time ago. Of course it took her a heck of a lot of pain to have this realisation but gosh it's good!
Life has far more meaning than the meaning we give it. We did not create ourselves and did not make natural law. Those things existed before human beings and so did meaning.
My friend is in a divorce procedure now and here what I noticed. Lawyers don't really care about human relationship at all. Only law and facts. I know it's how everything works. But the law isn't perfect, and there are still a lot of questions left behind.
mmmm- I think that facts are important in legal proceedings because emotions are very subjective and love to feed themselves. However, I do agree that there needs to be more respect to the human experience of these things
@@hamlinr thank you. We need to listen to the emotional component to see which aspects of ourselves are creating our conflicts for us. An holistic approach is so beneficial for our personal evolution.
There has been a such an imbalance within the justice system for a long time. I believe that people like Virginia are going to help people see the need for a more holistic approach. We could do so much, there is such potential out there!

I'm going to assume it was at the end of 2012 because that seems to be with everything changed for a lot of people. A shift in truth and purpose. I love Virginia's story and I think there is many of us who could follow this lead.
Lawyers are trained to take the words out of your mouth, put them on papers and made you signed the papers afterwards. What is in your mind and in your heart are something that no one else could read but the moment that you put them on your tongue you are judged from that that very moment. Lawyers are trained to read the tone, the tune, the ambiguity of sense and non sense of just the four elements of the " word".
There are many paths to success. In criminal law, the written statutes must be so clearly written, a person with only adequate reading ability can figure out what actions are considered criminal. In the criminal justice system, most (more than half?) of the defendants have broken such statutes. Many for selling drugs, for running a criminal enterprise. If your client is guilty, he still deserves "adequate representation." This idea of "all humans are connected" is at odds with your client going to prison for ten years.
People really don’t know how to take responsibility for themselves these days. Always blaming anyone and anything for the mistakes they made. If more people took responsibility for themselves and their actions, the world would be a better place. I like how she acknowledges that the law allows people to avoid just this. Next step, lets stop big brother from taking away our freedoms as individuals!
*You’re literally giving “this is all your fault even though someone else did it to you and you have to be responsible for the choices other people make because you are the controller of the entire universe since you were born” vibes.*
I think people would be a lot more willing to hold themselves accountable if we had resources to help people with that internal conflict. I believe this woman is from Australia and from what I gather they have next to no rehabilitation services available. And I could stand corrected but I'm pretty sure ice is a really big issue there. So if there aren't resources in place to help people, no matter what, they are going to keep doing the same thing over and over again.
