We asked for it...and we got it! Cube vs Maus! Oof, it came down pointy end first, that cube corner helped penetration some I think. I think the driver may survive as long as he's wearing a helm because the suspension bouncing hard may cause him to bump his head on the ceiling up front.
This cube at the current tungsten price would cost around 7.5 milion dollars, not including the cost of machining. Still less than an Abrams though. Now do the same but launch it at a stupidly thick plate at Mach 3
Pls do a Oreshnik Penetrator Sim, somethin like a 100-200kg Tungsten Rod with 3km/s. Against? I don't know, because simulating earth + concrete etc. is probably not easy.
the Maus is made out of a total of 3 of those cubes in Steel. crazy, i thought that cube must weigh more than the mouse, where is all that material in the maus to get to 3 cubes of those so 24 cubik meters of pure steel
Even if it doesn't look like that in every day life, steel is pretty elastic. When it interacts with forces stronger enough, it behaves the way you noticed. This phenomenon usually requires big amount of force (in relatively short times to get it more clear) to bee seen, and every thing is related to the shape and amount of stell you are dealing with. In this case, we have an enormous barrel, but its shape and the amount of energy/force coming from the cube is sufficient to make the barrel behave that way. Embrace physics my handsome young man.
@@nicoloferrari1486 Oh don't get me wrong, I love physics and all things science; but I can't see a 128mm hardened cannon barrel flexing and permanently bending like that just from being suddenly whipped 10 feet through the air. It'd be one thing if the block hit it directly or caused it to smash against the hull, but in this case, it would've more likely sheared off when the breech and/or mantlet got crushed, then either shot off due to the pinching pressure or have fallen to the side, still mostly straight regardless.
