Yeah, opensecrets is a cool resource regarding lobbying spending by corporations, and it is often to both sides. It's pretty interesting to track which years see increasing or decreasing spending, an tie-in to what was being debated or proposed at the time. Over-regulation can be almost as bad as under-regulation though, but it tends to be in states like Cali and is often more about bureaucracy than actually needed ones.

Weirdly I think she would make a better VP. The President spends a lot of time waiving and pontificating but not actually doing a lot of "the work". I really wish the Republicans still had the integrity to produce someone like Katie Porter. I know that sounds like I'm taking a shot at the Republican Party, but the truth is this country is worse off because of how low they have sunk.

There's no intelligence in the GOP, and it generally lacks in politics. The truth is that when politics became the media circus it is today, you cater to "politicians" who are in it for the fame, fortune and power. Very few politicians are in it for the right reasons. I suspect that Mitt Romney actually had a genuine desire to do something good for his country, and so does someone like Liz Cheney. Sadly someone put an orange haired ape at the wheel of this shortbus, in 2016 and ever since it has just been downhill. Obama was bad, Trump was a disaster, Biden is incompetent and so on. There are no proper "statesmen" left because laziness and insanity rule the US at the moment. Progressives are the reason most people don't work 6 and 7 day weeks and why we have a 5-day workweek as the standard. Progressives are why 4o hour weeks are considered full time instead of 60+ hours. Progressives are why there's such a thing as "minimum wage". Progressives are completely responsible for people having health insurance plans available by their employer. Progressives are why each of our bank accounts are insured for $250k each. They're responsible for children having free education in K-12, and why student loans even exist. Get injured on your job and need workers comp until you're healed? Thank progressives! People who retired from companies with a monthly pension but the company goes out of business -- it's progressives who created the govt program that makes it possible for you to continue receiving that pension. Belong to a union? Thank Progressives! All of these ideas were considered "radical" when progressives introduced them. I wish more people knew and understood how "Progressives"have literally impacted all of our lives today! Our Founding Fathers were also considered Progressives!

Just started the book tonight, only 67 pages in and I’m already loving it. Sent my sister pics of 3 parts already even tho I’m giving her the book to read when I’m done. She’s so candid, so open and is calling people out by name. It’s so refreshing, I hope things do change like she is aiming for. We need and deserve some transparency with our government.

She performed very badly, in essence endorsing Netanyahu when junketting in Israel. She could (should) have taken a stand against his authoritarianism, but didn't. Schiff has the nominal support of most Jewish organizations, but she would have had mine had she stood up to Netanyahu's anti-democratic policies and Israel's treatment of Palestinians. As it is, she gave up the moral high ground. Alas.

@@Jack-yw7bq I do believe that Porter's honesty and integrity when she approaches issues gives her widespread appeal and is going to put her in the Senate. Central Cali is much different than Southern Cali and SFO. Porter has a no-nonsense, practical approach with broad appeal.
