Yeah, I am completely new, starting in Warhammer The Old World. The Bretonnia starter box is the first Warhammer miniature product I've ever purchased. It is super exciting!
Pretty bemusing to see GW slowly shaking off the safety blankets they seemed to have rolled themselves into with how they acted in the lead up to TOW’s release.
I think they were worried it wasn't going to sell and that's fair. I'd be worried too but now is the time for them to action stuff and get the armies out! I want some god damn Sea Guard, and Chaos Knights... and Forsaken... I just want it all lol
Yup i hate the idea fantasy just end, dead, ghone, for aos cause whatever reason they got forced to do it back then. Tho gotrek and felix ending works but wouldn’t be angry for the timeline they survived in the old world. To me i Got into fantasy hard but realized its basically dead, ended. So feels ur stuck or just forced to go back in time but i want it to continue.
I think a divergent timeline could be cool, and it's not like there aren't already multiverses all around. But they probably think it would devalue AoS somehow.
Seeing the "Belegar" Model return as a generic one gives me hope we might see the Wurrzag Model (which was deleted from AOS pretty recently) return as well, I really wanna get one of them and paint it ^^
I wonder if the new players (like me), are staying away from Games Workshop stores is because everytime we ask about The Old World or Fantasy the sales people always try to shit on fantasy and attempt to redirect to Age of Sigmar. That may just be my experiences though, it has happened a few times at a few different stores.
They make far more money on AOS sales than they do from Old World. I don't blame the shop workers sadly they are usually 1 man stores that are forced to make a certain amount of sales per year or BOOM close down. Its kinda sad how it weighs on them tbh
@@TheGreatBookofGrudges Yeah idk I havent had that experience but I am a loyal customer from of my store. I own 5 armies around 2k points and one with about 6000 for 40k, so I think they just let me but what i want, they have never tried to get me into AoS or anything
Really interestes in TOW stuff, but every time I see the price point I turn around. Got both Star Wars Legion core sets for 180, just the Tomb King base set is 170.
The tomb king set comes with a full army with core, characters and others, the core rule book, the arcane journal and a few other things. You would’ve had a full army and all the rules for 10 euro less than you paid for core boxes.
@@kielweiss3606 the brettonian army box is the exact same things! Comes with everything the tomb king box has but with the brettonian faction instead of tomb kings one! That’s two full armies with full rules and models! After that all you need is a battalion box and their journal but that’s only if you *really* need a third army
After the fiasco that was Rings of Power, I dont want to see anything to come out for Warhammer Fantasy made by Amazon. My only hope for the 40k series is that Henry Cavill is there and wont let Amazon screw it up and shit over it as they did to Tolkiens work.
What fiasco? Rings of Power is excellent, I would strongly recommend people ignore the online hate from clickbait videos and give it a chance, if you like the LotR and watched the original movies it's a fantastic series. Season 2 looks unreal as well, cannot wait!

I do like it I played most of it. My issue is some of the conversations were half voiced and it really bugged me. That being said I'm happy to give it another shot as I did really enjoy the combat!
@@TheGreatBookofGrudges yeah I get that, they'll say the first like 2 sentences but the rest is just text, would be nice if they had more VA budget but seems like the Pathfinder games theyve made are similar. Who in good faith can claim it's selling poorly? The stock sells immediately and all my friends that like Warhammer but don't collect flat out tell me that if they got into it ever it'd be Old World because of the lore. That's an anecdote obviously but the fact that I haven't seen Battle Pilgrims in stock at all since launch tells me either they're making one a month or it's selling like mad.
Some FLGS have said that TOW isn't shifting (beyond what they expect), the rest seems to be people looking at online stores and seeing what isn't sold out (which is currently most of the TOW range), or by the stores in their area (nobody is playing/no events/no beginners night/boxes sitting on shelves). It's going to be area dependant, and it's daft because you can point to *any* range and say it's a poor seller because it's not in a permanent "temporarily out of stock" state across the board.
You're talking about the stock in the Warhammer website, but its a different story in LGS' that sell the stock and which are the real moneymakers. Its mixed, from what I can tell. That being said, TOW definitely sold well enough that it justifies its existence to be sure.
@stephenjenkins7971 the big issue is that the sales reps from GW have not pushed it at all. They are busy shoving 40K and especially AoS down third parties' throats. Most stores bought a few boxes, shoved them down to the bottom shelf of their stores, and never promoted at all. Then they complain it didn't sell. Well of course it didn't sell in those stores; these games need some level of commitment.
The good news - TOW is selling well. The bad news - people in the hobby continue to tolerate GWs price gouging across all their properties. I don't know how I feel about this. I'd like (proper) Fantasy Warhammer to have a resurgence, but I also feel like it's a hair's breadth away from a second collapse due to asking price for kits being on the absolute upper end of what people are willing to pay. With people willing gulping down modern GW prices, it will likely signal to management that more price hikes are a-okay. PS: the Amazon Fallout show was absolutely terrible from a writing standpoint. The script is amateurish, at best, and basically relies on it's key jangling aesthetics and the performance of one or two good actors to distract viewers from its catastrophic writing and character work.
