Congratulations on your 4 years! You truly are off grid! Ground up! You both have done an amazing job with your homestead and your beautiful family. Can’t get over how much the kids have grown up. You guys have the cutest babies. Can’t wait to see what your future will bring. TFS!!!!❤
Thank you Susan, I always feel like we're 'failing' then I remind myself to look back at what we've accomplished so far in the situation we're in and I'm reminded that we aren't doing too badly after all!
Congratulations Nyssa on your first year of utube. I love this compilation video of your first 4+ years off grid. You have a real talent for photography, there's no photos of you . I know what that's like, I too am the family photographer, my husband only takes pictures of the animals! Your beautiful children have blossomed living off grid, they have so much to play with in nature. My favourite pictures are the muddy ones! I have watched you from the first video and love your channel. So lovely to see a real family and the rooster crowing every time you speak. ❤
There's lots of selfies with the kids on my phone, hehe, those will be great for us as a family, but yes, I'm generally behind the camera hehe, the amount of time I've spent in front of the camera over this year is shocking! :D lol
Loved seeing the progression of the homestead and so enjoyed seeing the kids and Darryl loving life. But missed seeing you. I know you were the one behind the camera and all but in years to come the kids and grandkids are going to wonder why you weren’t in any of the pictures.
I was discussing that with D the other day, I have plenty of selfies with the kids hehe, but not so much in photos otherwise, but enough to look back on as a family :)
Just awesome Nyssa and family. It was really good to see all the building that Darryl has done, you don't get to see much of him, your kids are gorgeous, you've certainly done so much work you guys are amazing congratulations well done you ought to be proud 👏 xxx
@@OurSmallFootprint you'll get there you're all determined people and even though the lifestyle can be hard it's the best life, who wants to live in the cities... no offence to anyone living there I've done it but love the country life so much more, take care xx
Congratulations. Looks idyllic but so much hard work gone into the 11 years , well done! The photos of your family are beautiful. This is a lovely reel to watch thank you.
That was an amazing video. I really enjoyed it. Your skill as a photographer is quiet apparent. I can only imagine what time will do it will be exciting to watch. The children are beautiful. You and hubby are doing a fabulous job. You are a wonder to behold. Bless you and your family.
Thank you! I really need to pull my proper camera out more, I rely on my phone because it is in my pocket but I get some great pics on the real camera when I pull it out!
I loved watching this Nyssa and I am really enjoying watching your journey! This is truly how life should be! Very well done, I hope you, Darryl and your family are proud of what you are creating
Wow That was cool!! Thank you Looks like you have a wonderful life that is great! 4years can go by fast ...Bring on the next 4 love the cooking videos you always amaze me
Love all the dirty faces, kids living a wonderful life. Great compilation and loads of good memories, you certainly made the right decision to move off grid
So much dirt right at the beginning, dust and sand in everything! It has improved as we've built more and used more. But still a dirty place and that's not necessarily a bad thing hehe :D

What an awesome video. Your kids were so little when you moved there. Loved your photography, vegetables, dogs, birds of all kinds, even spiders were so neat to see. You and Darryl are doing a great job. You are living your best life.
Congratulations on your anniversary! Oh my! The kids, the dogs, the plants, the food! Your life should be a TV show! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. ♥
Such a lovely introduction to you and your family and how it all began. I now understand how the 2023 growing season was not so good. Hopefully later this year it will be spectacular. Congrats on the 1 year anniversary of you tube and now 5 years on your little piece of paradise.
Thank you Paula, yes, its the comparison to the year before that kills me, less about the poor season and more about how bad it was compared to the year before and how abundant it was :S
This is a wonderful video. I love to see children playing in the dirt. Thats how I grew up. Your family is so beautiful. I also smiled thru the whole thing. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us.
This is a wonderful video! Look at those precious babies! It love to see kids playing outside like we did when we were little instead of having their heads buried in phones. I grew up on a river and we were never inside. You have made a whole new world for them to grow and thrive. Well done! I am sure you are inspiring others to change their lives for the better. You have a beautiful family and I wish you all many more years of happiness living your dream. ❤
Thank you so much! I hope the kids realise how good they had it as kids eventually lol, to them at the moment, it is just the norm lol, they have nothing to compare it to! :D
Seeing the kids grow was beautiful. The pigs and the puppies! The construction! The veggies from the garden. Gives me inspiration to keep going, thank you!
Wow, what a fantastic life you are providing for your children. Loved every minute of this video. Congratulations 4 years and so much achieved. Well done 😊💕
Loved the video. The kids are having the best life - fresh air, learning about nature and having a great time. You genuinely love animals and that goes a long way with me. Congratulations on your four and a half years off grid - you are so lucky. Congratulations on your first year on TH-cam. I always look forward to watching your videos and thoroughly enjoy them.

I can say so many positive things, because you are my highlight of the day. But I will only say one thing, and doing it with a big smile. I love seeing kids being dirty from playing and exploring life outside. That is happy kids. You have come such a long way with your wonderful family. 🥰🥰 best wishes from Sweden.
🎉 Thanks for sharing….. such happy memories for you and your family- takes me back to my childhood- so much freedom growing up on a farm making our own fun, learning by working and helping around the farm…. My 3y old grandson is a farm boy and he’s living his best life….

Congrats on your one year of TH-cam I have watched from the beginning and it's a highlight of my day! Seeing your home and family grow over the 41/2 years was fabulous. Thank you for sharing can't wait to see the changes over the next few years 😊❤
Loved this video. I am a new viewer (subscribed about 1 week ago), it must have done your heart good when you were creating this video to see just how far you've come AND especially with everything life threw at you. Not the same, but on the same pathway, after I got divorced and recovered from my car accident, I sold the family home in the busy city of Belfast (NI) and now I live in the heart of the Northern Irish countryside, on top of a hill and my nearest neighbour is 5 miles away. We live in an 190 year old stone cottage and have lots of land. We have hens, goats, ducks, 3 pet sheep , 3 dogs and 2 gerbils. My son had autism and is very violent when in a meltdown. His behaviour has improved considerably from we have moved here. He is happier, healthier and more relaxed living out here. Definitely living away from the rat race is such a better way to raise well-balanced happy children. I dabbled in growing stuff this year which wasn't great, but I'll put my heart into it for the next growing season. Thank you again for sharing your life, your world with us and you're a great inspiration for us mums x
Welcome! Thank you! Looking back is always awesome, it’s hard to see how far you’ve come whilst you’re in the midst of it, and time flies too, it’s not until you reflect that you understand how much work has been done and what you have accomplished. I have to remember to do it regularly or I get disheartened! This lifestyle has definitely benefitted us, some kids I’m sure don’t feel like it, but my hope is that as they get older they too can reflect back and realise how good they had it lol.
@OurSmallFootprint I'm sure your kids will. My daughter was 13 when I got divorced, and my son 5. We moved from a small town to the city & they hated it..esp my daughter. This cottage in the @rsehole of nowhere came up, my daughter said moving here was the best decision I made. She is at university in Liverpool England and she can't wait to get back to carefree living. Once your kids experience life away from home, they'll understand what an amazing childhood they had. Yes they might wish they had proper friends growing up, but they'll also find out, finding the right friends is hard to do and that human beings can be very hurtful too. You are doing an excellent job, as a lecturer in law, criminology, and psychology and a qualified psychotherapist & counsellor; you are educating them in the best way...what interests them and bringing in basic maths for cooking and baking. Children learn through doing and a text book should be used to re-enforce the learning. Sadly too many schools & teachers are restricted due to huge class sizes & time, so the doing part becomes almost obsolete. Even though I'm lecturing adults and often serving police officers I make them get up and do fun things....my lectures and seminars are bunged as many students who are assigned a more traditional lecturer come to mine. Good luck in your amazing path you are forging for you and your family. It's a journey that will stay with your kids forever and one some may miss when they decide to leave home.
You've come a long way in the past four years. Along the way your children have blossomed living with freedom, incredible learning experiences and memories that will equip them for life. Well done to you all you gorgeous people I just loved it.
What an amazing collection of memories. I hope the kids will always remember the times being really dirty from a hard day of play. They were so little when you moved there!
Wow what a journey you have already been on just imagine what another 4 years will look like!! I watched this feeling a little bit sentimental watching your kids grow. I really hope when they are older they can look back on this and see just how happy they all were ❤❤
I hope that too, that they'll look back and appreciate what they had! The last four years has blown by, I just can't even fathom what we'll be at in four years time hehe.
Iam going back and watching your older videos. You guys have really come a long way. I did not know you are sick with myalgia with your nerves. I have Lupus SLE that is in my nervous system. Very damaging to body. So we have something in common. I like you have to give up a very nice paying job with Frito-Lay. We had down size as well. Just catching up on your videos. TFS!!!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences with us. Enjoyed every moment. Looking forward to seeing all the progress as you continue your journey.
Wow Amazing. That's what life is all about..fun family and food. I definitely have to take more photos or do utube. Brilliant record for the next generations. Cheers.
Amazing how far you have come! Your babies are so big now. Just sad I was so late finding your channel. I have learned so much by just watching you. Thanks for sharing all you do🙂
That was sooo lovely to watch. What a lot you've done! Great to see your happy, mucky kids....lots of great memories to look back on. Your food looked amazing too, as always.
Will be great to continue to look back and see progress made, it makes it feel more like progress, sometimes in the middle of it all, it doesn't feel like we've done much!
What u have done for over 4 years is amazing. Alot of hard work. Your garden is amazing. Can u grow all year round? I live in Michigan and can only grow for a short time.
@@jennifergilsoul551 generally speaking we can have ‘something’ going most of the year, even in the coldest spot our days are still well above freezing. But it requires planning and stuff this years garden has been abysmal, we got flooded and then super high temps, huge pest pressure :s
Beautiful pics of the flora, fauna, and the bounty from your gardens; I better understand now, just how frustrating this season has been for you. Thank you for sharing glimpses of your beautiful family and your adventurous life in the outback. Happy (one year) TH-cam Birthday...and may you have many more.
Nyssa and Daryl you guys have given joy to your beautiful family, I absolutely love seeing your off grid life and I think more people need to experience this to it's absolute peace, joy and everything else that makes it what it is and you guys have made it work, Congratulations on closing in on TH-cam for the first year I love you guys and please keep going and I can't wait to see what's next cheers Robyn in South Australia 😊🥰
I've actually been following your journey through instagram for years and as I was watching I realised it was right at the beginning probably not long after you moved on to the property that I found you. So glad you made a TH-cam channel. I have learnt so much from you!
I wish I had of had the ability to start the youtube channel way back then, to have it documented would have been awesome, but at least I have lots of photos and bits and pieces of clips hehe, I might have to do a year by year at some point, I obviously only pulled small snippets out for eac hmonth!
Wonderful video!!! I sat and watched all 31+ minutes of it and enjoyed it. Such a beautiful family. You can invite me over for dinner when you have steak, blood oranges (at least they looked like it) and watermelon. Haha, you wouldn't want to do that because they would be all mine. Congratulations!!
Loved this! Thanks for sharing - was so lovely to see more of your family, the growth of the property and all the creatures you share your life with! Alot of work putting that together :)
You and Darrell have certainly put a lot of work in the past 4 years. I am amazed at what a beautiful home you have. Goes to show, no matter where you are or what your circumstances, As long as you have your family with you, there's nothing you can't accomplish! I'd love to be able to come for a visit, even if it was for just one day, to spend it with the family. YOU AND DARRELL AND CHILDREN ARE AMAZING! I have one question to ask after all of this......how many puppies were there? GODS blessings to you, your family, and of course mom!
Thank you! :D There were 15! One passed, the runt of the litter. We got Daisy as a freebie, her home that she went to sent her back and so she was looking for a new home. Little did we know that she would go on her first heat and a stray dog (or two) got to her in the yard and then she was pregnant! Complete surprise to us!
What an achievement. Most people only dream of making the move to live exactly how they want to. Despite the challenges, you both made it happen. Huge congratulations!!! 🎉 🎉
Congratulations Nyssa, Darryl, and Surreal, Apollo, Sonnet, Orpheus, Lorcan and Kavik. 🤠 We have loved watching every video you have put up Nyssa. Welcome!
Thank you Robyn! :D. So many changes and progress made, but so much more to go :D
What an amazing collection of memories. I hope the kids will always remember the times being really dirty from a hard day of play. They were so little when you moved there!
So Tiny! There was a lot that had to be done with a lot of thought originally, they were so young that supervision was a massive thing!
TFS!!!
I'm glad we got pushed to move though, it was hard at first, but I'm super glad we are where we are atm!
Please everyone subscribe, you'll learn so much
I've learnt so much and look forward to learning lots more :)
This comment hit my spam filter, only just found it. Thank You! :)
A lovely vidio of life off grid, brings back so many memories.
It's been a hard slog, but its so worth it :)
Fabulous video. Thank you so much for sharing your memories with us. I always look forward to your videos.
Thank you! It was time consuming but worth it heh
Amazing ❤ No voice over needed 😊
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences with us. Enjoyed every moment. Looking forward to seeing all the progress as you continue your journey.
Thank you :). So much more to plan and do, hopefully we get there in the end, though I suppose there’ll always be ‘something’ :)
Wow Amazing. That's what life is all about..fun family and food. I definitely have to take more photos or do utube. Brilliant record for the next generations. Cheers.
One of the biggest highlights of having a decent phone camera, the ability to look back at all this!
Amazing how far you have come! Your babies are so big now. Just sad I was so late finding your channel. I have learned so much by just watching you. Thanks for sharing all you do🙂
They have gotten so big over the 4 years!
BTW...the accompanying music was perfect.
I think it took me almost as long to find enough music as it did to put all the photos in order lol
I loved this! The photos are brilliant and it really gives a feel for your life there. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you for joining me on the journey! :D
You guys have come a long, long way!!!👍🏼❤😊
At times it doesn't feel very far at all! :)
This is beautiful ❤️
That was beautiful! Thank you for sharing❤🙏
You are welcome, thank you for joining me! :D
such beautiful memories and family thank you for shareing 🙂
I love looking back at the photos, it definitely makes me realise how far we've come.
Wow, what an amazing job.
Still so much more to go! :D
Oh it was so lovely seeing your family xo
Really neat to look back on :D
Awesome to see all the progress you have made. Tough times trying to start a homestead and make it work. Good for you, you are a tough lady!
Hard work, but totally worth it in the end, even if it doesn't feel like it whilst you are in the midst!
Thank you Olivia! :)
Thank you Robyn! So much progress, but there's so much more we want to get done as well!
That was so wonderful to watch! What an amazing journey you are on.
Come so far, so much more to go hehe :D
@@OurSmallFootprint Can't wait to see! :)
We would love to see more of Darryl and what he is building along the way too :)
@@OurSmallFootprint still good to have all the photos you do from the early days. A year by year would be good to see how far you have come.
Really impressive!!!
What a wonderful life 😊👍
Definitely, very grateful we got to take this step!
The blood oranges were gorgeous weren't they! so so purty!
Great video idea Nyssa!
Congrats on a year of TH-cam🌸🌸
I would have liked to have done something a bit more polished etc, but I just don't have the time lol. This took an age on its own!
Loved this! Thanks for sharing - was so lovely to see more of your family, the growth of the property and all the creatures you share your life with! Alot of work putting that together :)
I really would have liked to have done something more polished, but it was a lot of work lol, and I just don't have the time! :D
@@OurSmallFootprint Wouldn't expect you would! lol
Love it all!! You have come so far in 4 yrs , everything looks so different. The kids have really grown and made alot of great memories!!
So much progress made and the kids have definitely grown up! But still so much to go! :D
Thank you! :D
There were 15!
It's been hard work, but totally worth it, a long way to go still!
Congratulations Nyssa, Darryl, and Surreal, Apollo, Sonnet, Orpheus, Lorcan and Kavik. 🤠 We have loved watching every video you have put up Nyssa. You are true Aussie battlers, and we look forward to watching more Videos. 🐤🦮🐷Hope your seedlings do better now and you have an awesome harvest for 2023. 🪴🌱🍀🐞🍉🍇🍋🍊🍍🍎🍒🍓🌽🥦🧄🧅🥬🫐
Thank you so much Pauline :)
