      @@TwoDollarGarargeidk, I was born in 1997 and was the perfect age to love the Clone Wars when it came out...but I didn't. I tried watching it then & never got into it, and going back to rewatch it now it still doesn't click for me. I've never cared for Ahsoka all that much, not because she was annoying early on, but because I almost never saw any internal conflict in her (the trait I look for most in a character). The times I've liked her most was during Rebels & the Siege of Mandalore, but I still wouldn't say I've been won over. And that's okay. I'm happy for everyone who loves Ahsoka, and I don't begrudge anyone for being excited to see her in live-action. Just my two cents
      tl;dr, I was part of the generation that grew up with Ahsoka & I still didn't like her

      That's a bit heavy handed and hasty. I think alot of it may have to do with many fans not being filled in on her transitional periods during Rebels and the relatively flat dislodge and acting in the first few episodes of Ashoka. Speaking for myself, I knew Ashoka exclusively from the clone wars and hadn't seen any of her progression in Rebels or the mandalorian, so when I was met with a seemingly jaded and largely emotionless rendition of her character I was caught off guard but had just assumed that her past trials had shaped her to be this way now, which is fine. This however does not excuse the lack luster acting, dialog, and directing of the first fee episodes of the season. Ashoka is quiet and jaded but not I a particularly dramatic or sympathetic kind of way and what we are shown in the show does little to justify her demeanor. Take for example her cold treatment of Sabine, granted I didn't watch rebels and don't know how their relationship was there, but Sabine's character is insecure and eager to please and to be wanted while she knows her short comings. So when Ashoka, the jedi that was extended so much patience and empathy from Anakin reluctantly addresses and even shames Sabine in some instances (when she successfully hacks the HK droids head) the audience is left feeling that Ashoka is being unjustly cold and overly critical of Sabine, not exactly what we'd expect from Ashoka Tano. I just think that the writers could have done a better job of showing why Ashoka has lost patience with Sabine (this sort of happened when we see Sabine take the star map off the ship to her house despite Ashokas disapproval and Sabine ends up getting ambushed, to no fault of her own, and loses it to Shin). I don't particularly like the way Sabine's character is handled either, she comes off pretty immature and reckless but she is also much younger and this aspect if her character is sufficiently demonstrated throughout the first episode so it's easy for the audience to accept that as her character. To wrap this up I think the issue is that Ashoka seemingly adopted a new character and the show does little to show why; we don't ever get a quiete moment with her lamenting her past or stressing about her future nor do we get any cinematography to convey this idea. Andor has truly spoiled me and I believe it handled this same dilemma much more tactfully with Casian as we get to see where he's been, what he's done, where he came from, and what he wants out of his life before he gets falls into an entanglement with the corporate police, then the rebellion, and then the empire. The show explains in every way (exposition, cinematography, and actions/consequences) Why Andor is a morose and picaresque character and how he becomes radicalized. I firmly believe the responsibility of fleshing out the character and their motivations lies with the showrunners. Again, I picked up the show and simply filled in the blanks but I'd be a hell of alot more invested right now if I was shown why Ashoka is the way she is now.

    "Your compassion for them will be your undoing" yet Luke succeeded, and if the council had been more compassionate for a child thrown into a crazy situation with so many upheavals, they would have made sure his mother was secure, so he could move on and not worry about her. But his constant worry bred fear in him, and was the linchpin to his fall. The jedi forgot the light side of the force, love, compassion, respect, understanding, and got caught in their dogma. Refusing ALL emotion is also shutting yourself off from the light.
    I struggled a lot with anger issues as a young person, and without love, compassion, respect, and understanding, I would have become something very dark. Those very emotions chase the dark away, they can be like a sudden bonfire in a dark cold cave, and for the jedi to have forgotten that, shows how far they had fallen. They did what so many of us do now, confuse passion with love. Passion is actually a neutral emotion, it can be used for good or bad. But love is a fiercely gentle thing which is very hard to break, and provides constant warmth.

She very appropriately has a baby face, which reminds people just how young she was during the war. Like Ahsoka said, she was a soldier all of her life - she was never taught to follow the jedi path of peace. She SHOULD have PTSD - she was a child soldier, witnessed death and destruction, and countless war crimes!

But cutting to the chase, I enjoy your site because it encourages me to think--as Cookie 12670 pointed out, about both the fictional world of Star Wars and the world I live in. (Going on 75 is *not* too old think, BTW.) So far, I've enjoyed the segments about Hera Syndulla and Carson Teva running interference for Asoka as she sets out to track down Thrawn and Ezra, Anakin not being willing to let Asoka die, and the speculation on what Baylan and Shin Hati are up to. Keep the good stuff coming--and may you live a very long and thoughtful life!

    What if Ahsoka is pulled out of the world between worlds by Ezra in the other galaxy where he and Thrawn are (and where the rest of them will be) and then travels back to the Star Wars galaxy in their super hyperspace ring? The world between worlds could also be between galaxies. I think the other galaxy will be brief as otherwise what is Hera going to do for the next couple of episodes, just hide from command/the senate? It's like Alan said previosuly, she is unkillable.

    I watched these "fashbacks" with Ashoka questioning her Jedi training in a time of war to have Anikin remind her that Jedi must adapt and he will teach her everything he knows about war so she can survive. Then, she asks him what she will teach her Padawan. Later she takes up a Mandolorian as a Padawan, who has never had any training but for war. Thought.

    I completely connect with Anakin, to love something so deeply that you end time and space it self to see them through all the way until the bitter to give your life for another without hesitation if the situation ever came up. Yes in a heart beat i would because they have so much more potential than i ever could. i believe that's the mindset he's coming from.

    Isn't Ahsoka older than Anakin was when he died in return of the Jedi? He was 46(23 as Anakin and 23 as Vader) and Ahsoka is 48 in her show..... so people are fine with Anakin having a huge personality change within 4 years but Ahsoka isn't allowed to change after 31 years?

    My takeaway from the last episode is that Ahsoka's confidence was shaken ever since she found out Anakin was Vader and started rejecting and second guessing Anakin's teachings, believing it may turn her to the dark side. That is why she lacked conviction. She has been second guessing herself this entire show. She felt she was trained "wrong". Anakin explained why he chose to train her how he did, and then led her down the same path he went down, eventually putting her into the same situation he was in when he fought Dooku. She made a different choice than Anakin did in the same situation, making her understand that Anakin's choices don't have to be her choices, and while he made mistakes, there was still value in the lessons he taught her.

    Ways to enter the world between worlds:
    1 portal
    2 be pulled through from someone inside
    3 have your padawan see you die (Obi-Wan and Luke, qui gon and Obi-Wan, Yoda and Luke, maybe Anakin and ahsoka (on malachor), ahsoka and Sabine)....
    Just a thought (that had me wake up an hour before my alarm).

    My issue with this portrayal isn't that she's not like Snips, she's not really like Ahsoka from Rebels, either. Granted, dying/getting yeeted into interstitial space is bound to change a person, I just recall adoring how open and caring Ahsoka was in Rebels, being that rock for everyone to lean on, but in a metaphorical sense, not a literal stone-faced monk. She still had her sense of humor, but tempered by wisdom and experience, and she'd even get rattled from time to time.
    Could be I'm just biased, but Ahsoka in this series seems very 'Jedi' when really she shouldn't be, since she's born the brunt firsthand of what Lightside indoctrination entails.
    Maybe that's intentional, but it's still a little off, you know?

    Can you imagine standing in a hallway, with a half-dozen large battledroids shooting blaster bolts at you from 5 feet away, and only needing to block a couple of the DOZENS of shots being fired your way. Maybe the Jedi weren't awesome. Maybe the Clone Wars had them fighting against the most inept enemies of all time and they STILL lost. Weird.

    Question.. is there any reason that a force user doesn't use a lightsabre in one hand and a cortosis blade in the other...

    • @GenerationTech
      @GenerationTech  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      So cortosis is still making its way slowly back to canon, if i remember correctly during the cw Thrawn and Anakin run into a seppie factory making battledroids with cortsis and it was viewed as a serious problem. This was in one of the new canon thrawn trilogies. DR Aphra also used one, I believe they nerfed the weapon quite a bit making it very easy to break which might be one of the reasons its n0t as common

    • @janwitts2688
      @janwitts2688 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @GenerationTech
      Thanks for replying.. as far as I know the armour of the battledroids like the cortosis armour used by the old republic army only employs trace amounts and thus is resistant to lightsabres but doesn't damage them (must assume it is also somewhat more resistant to blasters as well).. however a pure cortosis blade is not only much more resistant (but may fail after several hits in the same location by a lightsabre) but will also null out any lightsabre not using a very specific crystal type... therefore unless your opponent has one of these crystals (very difficult to get but I would make it a high priority) unless he has one of these crystals the mere contact of your black metal blade will knock out his lightsabre for long enough to just slice him up wither with your lightsabre or sword or perhaps both... really any dual weapon user would be able to employ this very naturally into their style... the opponent would have to resort to force pushes or suchlike... really at that point it becomes more martial as in wearing actual armour but then again this would make actual knights into what they are supposed to be..

      Her species can live for an extended period in their prime (especially if they're strong in the Force), so biologically she would be in her 20s. Chronologically... she's 5 years younger than Anakin and Grogu = about 48 or so?
