Thailand Travel - Lets Explore Some of Sriracha

  • In this episode we take a trip down to the town of Sriracha, Thailand. We take a quick look at the town before having dinner at the outdoor night market adjacent to the Pacific Park Mall. After dinner we examine the entertainment area and see how it compares to that of Pattaya. Sriracha is home to many Japanese expats and we find out the restaurant and entertainment scene kind of reflects that, but maybe in a good way. Enjoy the Ride!

    I frequent Sri Racha for business regularly but leave for Bang Saen as soon as my work is done. I do not care for this place very much but have been to most of the attractions as well as Ko Srichang. Thanks for reassuring me I do the right thing and spend as little time as necessary there. I also notice the real estate/rent is quit expensive compared to other places that have a beach near by.

    Hello there...my Thai girlfriend lives just outside of Sriracha...they have a very nice J-Park "japanese mall" there. It is a nice suburb of middle to upper class Thais. Nice parks, market and restaurants, Tiger Zoo...will be nice when the new train is built in a few years. Assumption College is there as well. I prefer Jomtien and Bang San area.

    I remember I once stumbled onto Thaniya Road in Bangkok near Patpong. It, of course, is an entertainment area that focuses on catering to the Japanese. I was shocked when I turned to walk down the street and immediately a man approached me telling me I was not welcome there. He told me this area was for Japanese people only. Being a very big American, I have a bad habit of not listening when people try to tell me where I am or am not allowed to go. I walked down the street anyway and the guy followed me the whole way begging me to leave and said he could recommend many other areas for me to have fun. The vibe on the street was definitely anti-westerner. I eventually left and never visited the area again. As I watched your video here... I was reminded of that night on Thaniya Road. :)

    • @DavidWhitt
      @DavidWhitt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@limirl sorry... I have no idea what nationality the man was. Keep in mind that he was speaking very respectfully to me... and offering suggestions on all the other places I could go... I have thought even that he was trying to get me to go to other bars as he would then be compensated by the other bars for directing me to them. This might be a way for locals to keep the Japanese happy and to put a few nickels in their pockets for doing so.

    Is this city safe for Americans to wonder around all over or is it only safe in the main streets? Thanks

    • @herranton
      @herranton ปีที่แล้ว

      There are very few places in Thailand that aren't safe. You risk the same thing that you would in any tourist destination (pickpockets, scammers, etc), but you are not in a physical danger. Be respectful, try not to be overly loud (as that is the biggest complaint most people have about Americans), dont expect everyone to speak english, and keep an open mind and you will be fine.
      Keep in mind that in most of Asia (including Thailand) there is a concept of face. You dont want to do anything that would cause a thai to lose face (or in sriracha, a japanese person). The biggest way this usually happens is if you complain about something that is wrong. In the USA we tend to just bitch to the manager if our food comes out cold. In thailand you would try to tell you waitress as nonchalantly as possible, or maybe say something like "I waited too long to start eating, could you please warm this up for me." That way the person who cooked it, or the person who served it to you doesn't look bad. You want to handle _ALL_ problems this way in Asia. You never get mad. If you do, you have a much lower chance of having the problem fixed to your satisfaction. But more than that, you are in their country and you should try to respect their traditions. And that means never losing your cool.
