Aw man, tough deal bro! But at least you accomplished a lot more than most by getting as far and seeing as much as you did, congrat's on that!
I think i'd have been happy camping on that last lake for a few nights. Thanks for taking us along.

I was for sure grateful to see what I did and that's why I think its worth a retry. I thought about doing just that but opted out because of the water filter thing. Next time I will be packing two Sawyer filters. Thanks for following along!

I definitely got took to school on this one lol! Who knew getting your ass kicked could be so inspiring. This is something I can say that forced me out of my comfort zone and made me want to go after it that much harder. Thanks man!

Can't tell ya how many times that's happened to me brother, hat flying off the ole noggin from wind 😆 hiking the at trail. Sorry the altitude screwed things up man but I tell ya what was beautiful for sure!! Coniferous forests are my fav. Beautiful lakes and streams too!!! Happy weekend brother, awesome video

Yeah that saddle was like a hurricane! Still wanting to get in some T miles since its around my home area. I think the difficulty of the altitude is a challenge that i want to conquer and the scenery of those mountains was worth the suffering. I plan on going back sometime when I can dedicate a week to acclimation. I want it soooo bad! You have a good one to brother!

@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 yea brother sometimes altitude just doesn't agree with us, it never bothered me in my youth but overlooks get me now.. vertigo feeling lol. Do they have medication for the problem now days? That would be awesome if you can get past it and return, enjoy it more. Ty and hope you're having a great weekend too man! Oh how much rain did you get down there? We got about 3.5-4 inches up this way. Camp stream is almost flowing now

@@WaltRevenJr They do have some medication that is supposed to help but I'm a little hard headed and want to overcome it with conditioning and acclimation. I wonder myself how I would do minus a few years haha! We got some rain but not as much as I would like. I'm already prowling for the shrooms!

@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Yea man I hear ya, I'm the same with medicine and such. I'd rather push myself or let my body heal on its own etc. That stream in the woods already dried up, soaked all into the ground that fast here!! Didn't find any shrooms at all, nothing! Good luck brother

You gave it your best shot, at least you were smart about it. If you're like me, you'll be more motivated to get back and try again. Beautiful area too.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely try again! I want to stay around 10,000 for about a week doing small stuff and then attempt this again. This would be doable because there is car camping all over around this park. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thank you so much for allowing me to join this mountain hike. It also gave me curiosity to look up and read more about the National forrest in Santa Fe. This must have been a bit of a challenge to get sick alone out there. But you gritted your teeth and finished. Well done.

I'm glad you liked it, I was hoping to show what it was like out there as best I could. I was really worried that night that I wouldn't be able to walk back out at all. I had an emergency device but that would be last resort and even then would have been a huge ordeal. I finished around 20 out of 70 miles of the trail and was grateful to witness what I did. I never knew New Mexico had this landscape even though I have been in the state a few times before. I thought it was all desert. Santa Fe itself is a super cool small city/big town and the people there were the greatest. Thanks for checking it out!

That’s a scary experience, I’m glad that you went back, especially with your water situation. Altitude is tough. I could only ever walk for a few miles up that high and constantly had to take breaks because I’d be out of air (and that was without a backpack!). What you got to see was gorgeous, and it’s nice that you were able to take a different trail on the way back. It’s super cool that you’ve been putting these hikes together and getting out there!

I'm kinda glad to struggled so much and all. If I go back and knock this out I think it will give me more of a sense of accomplishment. I definitely have even more respect for the mountains now. I'm using the Alltrails app and its pretty cool once you learn how to use it. And next time I will have two filters! Thanks for watching, it took me a while to put this one together.

@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 I wonder how a person gets past that altitude sickness. It seems like if you go back that you would feel nauseated again. I don’t know much about how that works. When I go visit my family in Colorado, I end up laying around a lot and constantly drinking water 🤪

    • @paxtianodirtfrog8947

@@kathivy I think if I stayed for a week and then tried it it might work. But I talked to one dude that said it took him 6 months. It seems to be very personalized. And yeah water has a lot to do with it, I couldn't drink enough the whole time I was there.

    • @kathivy

@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 that would be a good idea to get acclimated for a while before doing the hike and having that extra water filter.

Watching your new video, 9-30-23, made me want to watch this video again. I'm wondering if you have any plans to revisit this trail?

    • @paxtianodirtfrog8947
      @paxtianodirtfrog8947  ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah I want to, but parts of it are closed now from fire damage. I was right close to that trail in the beginning of the 9-30-23 video but not nearly so high up the mountain.
