  • Understanding how a street light works can reduce the cost of an outdoor lighting installation. The clever optical system can reduce the number of lights, mounting columns, give better lighting with lower glare and light pollution.
    We show the differences using the Magnaled led streetlight from Ansell Lighting.

    I may be wrong but i remember from college that street lights was ment to be orange for colour rendering purposes and its low reflective light. Is this true or my imagination? I certainly notice a diffrence on a foggy night.

    • @efixx
      @efixx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Orange was because sodium lamps were the most efficient before LED. The eyes perform better with white light and it’s easier to identify hazards.

    • @donkinghan1
      @donkinghan1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was kind of the opposite...the sodium lighting was orange but had poor colour rendering which was deemed not important for street lighting as having more light output per watt was more important than its colour rendering ability

    • @jenscristian4804
      @jenscristian4804 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@efixx Just because the eyes perform better with white light does not dismiss the fact that LED lighting above 2700K color temperature is harmful to humans with the blue hues present in the spectrum, which disrupt melatonin production. The AMA released a position statement initially for any LED lighting not to exceed 3000K, but recently said it should be 2700K or less.
      Furthermore, cool white LEDs at 4-5000K are very disruptive to nocturnal wildlife and their migration patterns. The most suitable for residential is PC Amber LED 1700K and 590nm spectrum LEDs for proximity to sensitive wildlife habitat areas.

      Can I ask I did a emergency job on a CU just to get the power on as the neutral bus bar was burned and the wiring as it was loos I has to move every thing over and use the RCD as main switch and strap the live Bus bars to each other. This was just a emergency power job. Now the owner will not let me put it right I did feel it was safe for a short time but as a RCDs can lock up if over loaded or heat you. Should I report this some were as he will not let me change it and put this right.
