Thanks for making the vids. I have sold hundreds of Velo-Steel hubs and I rebuilt every one before shipping, and they were new. Too much grease and some had crummy balls in them. I also collect all brands coaster brake hubs. Torpedo is the best, and my favorite. I wish I could find one of those driver tools, I really need one!
Good morning Schwinn, today I upload a video about Favorit and Velo-Steel, Yes the Torpedo is the best, but we have to take what we have/find. I wish you to find the tools, after some years it comes the way to you. I repair now over 40 years and did not have all I want/need. Thanks for writing me. Regards
Thanks so much for this video! I plan to overhaul my sachs torpedo hub and this helps immensely since I have never owned a sachs hub before. I think my model is from 1938, at least there is a "38" stamped on the hub body and from what I can find online it looks like it's from then. I love the old classic stuff....built to last and last.
hello, the early hubs, until 1920 are a little bit different. a Torpedo 1938 is standard and the parts are interchangeable with parts of the 40-60th, regards
Perfect. Thank you for you answer! Then I suppose it´s not that difficult to find some spare parts if something is broken =) The brake as it is now, first kick in with a pedal travel at maybe -85 degrees and not +45 as it´s suppose to?
@@artjomaltenhof9691 the vaseline is meant to be used on the brake and also should be smeared in vasaline but grease can also be used in the same way,and the grease and vaslaline both melt on the brake

Yes 38 means 1938, drive it until 2038 and longer 🙂
I have a 1930s Perry shell with F&S parts and a rare Torpedo handle, a quite unique piece of work that is.
Thanks, I bring in some days a video on youtube, about the cloned Perry coaster brake, it is Torpedo, regards Jens
I’ve damaged two dustcaps trying to remove them, thanks for the tip about removing the assembly from the backside!
Thank you for your feedback :-)
😮
Some people advise to you car brake grease for brake shoes instead of vaseline. Do you agree with that?
Hi =) Thanks for a great video. Did the design change a lot through the years? Mine is a 1938 K.

@@Simeneryou need new brake parts, most important the brake cylinder: www.torpedo-coasterbrake.com/images/partnumbers/torpedo-coaster-brake.pdf
will it be ok to use grease on the brass brake because had no vasaline
I would buy vaseline!
It will melt on breaking.
@@artjomaltenhof9691 its high point melting grease mat, also vaseline melts more so,so if the grease did melt that is a good thing realy
