I replied to your comment on the HH PI video as well. I would personally choose the Garrett Sea Hunter over the Tesoro Sand Shark. The Sea Hunter has interchangeable coils which is a big advantage. Performance is very similar with a slight edge going to the Sea Hunter. Both of these machines have high pulse delays which makes them more suitable for diving than beach combing. The only real advantage of the Sand Shark, frankly, is its lifetime warranty.
The VCO setting was used for this test, which I believe is the setting specifically used for underwater detection. From what I understand, VCO detection cancels out saltwater and black sand interference for better underwater detecting... maybe not so good for open air detecting? I wonder how the Normal setting would have responded to the small earrings.

How can you do a depth test if you don't set the pulse width to max depth?

Test in the water, a pulse uses the water as a conductor to the target.
