I grew up with the railroad 75' behind my little country home and farm in Connecticut...you seriously get used to the noise of the train.
I spent my early childhood living across the street from the Santa Fe line that went through the middle of Pasadena in the '40s. I not only got used to it, I love it. It's like a lullaby, sleeping by a train track - or in a train.
My wife and I are engineers and it is so cool to see your son so inspired by engineering! Kids like him are the future! 🙂

I'm afraid I couldn't stay that close to some train tracks. The derailments that you see on the news make me feel unsafe being that close. Glad your stay was "uneventful". ;)

I have been looking for a campsite in that area for months, You're right everything sold out. Fortunately we down sized and can mooch dock in our Family's drive way about 8 miles south of there. I don't think I could handle the train. The one at the Hershey park campground was bad enough @ 100' feet away

It's possible to be grateful and appreciative without actually liking something. I'm sure they were grateful to have a place to stay considering the difficulty they had finding something.

We just got back from a weekend getaway RV camping trip about half an hour from home. Ummm it was on a lake/marina but they didn’t have a bathhouse or laundry or free book exchange. There was an expensive restaurant on site but “no there, there.”
You guys are awesome! We will no longer take for granted that we can make mods and fixes at home.

When I would camp with my parents when I was young, we pulled into an overnight site after dark on the way to Florida. Our site backed up to a berm/ embankment. We didn’t think anything of but in the middle of the night we find out that it is a train track and a train comes barreling through blowing his horn. It felt like it was coming through the middle of our trailer. I don’t think I’ve laughed harder from shock and surprise!

Hmm... you might be camping on railroad property. We found this out when CSX wanted to close the private crossing that we use to access our property. The railroad owns the land 100' out on both sides of the track.
On a different note, sounds like I need to open my kids old rooms to guests that LOVE railroad sounds. 😅
We’ve used Airforce One for the last 2.5 years with our Newmar Dutch Star and a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4. The Airforce One has been flawless in over 29,000 miles. Our pedals are adjustable and they need to be adjusted all the way out to work correctly. Love your channel, thank you!

To each their own, I guess, but you didn't need to bash the place. It's the sort of place we would seek out. We love to park near trains - our favorite spot is in Caliente, CA, near the Tehachapi Loop. There's a place you can park where the train loops around you, and we go there as often as we can. My husband's a rail fan and I grew up in love with them because there was a Santa Fe line right across the street from my first childhood home. The trains clacking by are like a lullaby to me and I sleep better than I ever do at home - as long as it's not near a grade crossing where they're sounding their horns all night long. That's a different thing. But just trains clacking by? Zzzzzz...
Love this video - and your way of turning lemons into lemonade. we just completed a project with Y2V literally boondocking just past the end of the Ft Laurderdale airport runway - planes taking off overhead every 2 minutes. We had a blast, and did lots of good work - but never realized how many places take off every day/and night. We looked into that very flea market site for our trip back to PA -but chose to go to Ocala for some deep quiet sleep :~) hip camp will be a great new tool, they had some interesting alternatives.

When were you guys in Cocoa Beach? We were in that area for 9 weeks. Interesting find for a location to stay! Lots to do and some great restaurants there. So sad that the launch you were going to finally get to see, didn't happen! We got to see from our campsite, the Falcon Heavy lift off the first night we arrived. It was incredible! It was the first time we had seen a rocket launch in real life! Glad you got it started and back on the road! - MIchelle
Did you get any sleep? I camped on the Columbia river at Cascade locks, it was right next to the RR tracks. I was never so sleepless and uncomfortable for two nights. Hated it. Never again.
And being down there at the bottom of the Columbia Gorge the sound just reverberates!!!

That motorhome has more than a battery issue. Sounds like a fuel pump issue, maybe glow plugs.. That $50,000 solar system should be keeping the starter battery charged up better. With all them batteries, you should NEVER have to use cables or one of them boosters.
The problem is that the slides run off of the 2 coach batteries and I ran the slide in and out without the rv running, which took most of the juice from them.
Our coach batteries are going on 5 years old and need to be replaced. We had the HEUI pump replaced a few years ago.
Williamsburg, Va is a excellent place to visit. Loads of history! I grew up. They have thousand trails in the area love you guys. Eileen and Don LaMarque
Oh wow, we live 45 minutes from that campground south, also not to far from train track. You know when the Brightline goes by. It’s nice I can rockets going up near my house. Have to say you had an experience. Thanks for sharing.

One thing I learned living near Kennedy is never count on a launch to be on time or even the day it is scheduled. S when you decide to come see a launch make arrangements to be here a few days.

I grew up about a half of a mile from a train switch yards. The noise of trains puts me to sleep
Yikes! We stayed somewhere in the west for a month while waiting for escrow to close. The train tracks were across the road but not too close. Only maybe one train in the evening and one in the morning. Noisy but not awful. So, it wasn't bad. We did have a beautiful spot though. Lots of trees and access to pick as many apples and blackberries as we wanted. This was in an area where it's impossible to find spots for months. Kathleen
Our worst camping trip ever was in Louisville, NE when we lived near Omaha. Trains make for a horrible nights sleep 😁
We’ve stayed a month at a campground that was nearly that close to the tracks and a crossing so the train horns would go all the time day and night.
Good to know since I have a Furrion TWH in my new RV.
I once rented a house that was about 15-20 feet from train tracks and near an intersection. So, not only did I deal with the trains, all northbound trains blew their whistle in front of my house. Thankfully, I only lived there a couple of months.

Don't tell the others, but Hipcamp has given me some wonderful experiences. I've camped on farms, ranches, wineries, and even a goat rescue. I want to keep it my little secret though, so we'll tell everyone that all of Hipcamp's sites are on railroad tracks behind flea markets, ok?

If you are in the St Petersburg area you could spend a couple of free nights by the Skyway Fishing Pier area. There is a short stretch where you can camp right next to the water instead of next to the rr tracks. Feel free to hmu if you need more information. Safe travels!
In 1986, we tent camped in a beautiful, grassy State Park site surrounded by trees and bushes. It appeared to be perfect...until about 9 p.m. when the sun set and the bar on the other side of the trees and bushes opened it's beer garden! Freeway of Love by Aretha Franklin was played over and over, very loudly until bar time (2 a.m.) What appeared to be a heavenly spot during the day was hell at night!

There are hundreds of free camping in FL in the 5 water management districts and the fish and wildlife have separate camping also.
When using the NOCO, you have to use the boost button for car batteries or it doesn't get enough power.
Glitchy and not knowing what you're doing (new equipment with limited confidence). Troubleshooting this and learning will help with the confidence when you get this issue or similar in the future. Do not ask me how we know.
I lived in a mobile home park next to a railroad for 3+ years. You get used to it, but it takes more than 3 days!

We visited the Kennedy Space Center several times over the last 40 years. I had no idea when a friend who lives near there took me to Ron Jon that it was a big deal. I bought some Crocs when I was there. Thanks for the memories.
Been so long I don't even remember where in the mid-west it was but we had a similar experience. Many construction delays made us arrive at the campground after dark. Backed into the spot and unknowingly put ourselves about 20 feet from a high speed mainline with freight trains every couple hours. No sleep that night.

Stayed at Anvil Campground in Williamsburg VA and backed the travel trailer up to the freight line tracks... 1st night was bad, after that, slept through it the rest of the week. I will say Anvil was a great campground.
In southern california, most of the rv parks sit on top of railroad tracks!!!! On the 8 fwy in San Diego, most all the rv parks are right up against the fwy. They charge top dollar. Good luck sleeping at night!
We use hip camp alot. One bad. Experience we were misled. In New Jersey. Beach getaway was the headline with a picture of the beach . Well it was a driveway with water and electric. What a disappointment.

I have a great RV mod for you to always keep your starting battery full and ready to go. Buy a cheap PWM solar charge controller. I bought a 10 amp model. Also a fuse holder or two if you want one on both sides of the device. Hook the solar side up to the lithium and whenever there is a charge differential then it will charge and keep your starter battery fully charged. Your battery will last much longer too as it will stay charging even at night. I have had almost zero sulfation on my batteries and they are going on eight or nine years old. Yes they are lead acid. If you accidently leave something on over a couple of days it is likely the charge controller would provide the load, just size the wires correctly, and the whole project could be done for less than $25 more than likely. It might save you two to four sets of starter batteries over eight or ten years.
Noise aside, with the ever increasing number of serious derailments lately I’d be constantly wondering if the next one passing by might come off the rails and take me out being that close. Wow.
Love, love, love trains near the campground. Anvil campground in Williamsburg, VA has the East West track run right beside it. The Grand Canyon Railway RV park in Williams, AZ has a station at the RV park. They are great!
Oh my gosh!! We know exactly where this is. We go to Cocoa Beach every year (the only trip of the year without our camper), and of course, Ron Jon's is a must! We have actually been to the Flea Market in Cocoa.....to shop. We will be in Cocoa Beach the first week in May. We can't wait.

We stayed at the Idaho potato museum and was this close to tracks there but there was a horn. Most of the reviews said they didn’t hear the train much but we were lucky to hear it 4 times through the night 😂 but I’d still stay there again. The museum was great and being able to stay there saved us in a pinch so I can’t complain.

LOL .. I would have loved that. I get it though. If you're not used to trains or a lot of noise like that, it's bothersome. But I'm not bothered by it as a general rule. I've lived in some pretty noisy areas with trains, so that wouldn't be any big deal for me.
LOL. All those batteries and you use a jump starter. Yeah, we camped 15 feet off the road. Bikers going through a few times a day.
I wouuld be worried about debris coming off the train and chipping paint. Is it possible to put a large tarp on the train side of your vehicles to protect them?

Its always trains planes and automobiles....rv parks always buy the cheapest land available and that's always along the interstates or rail lines
Gravy Train, I'm still laughing. We stopped one night at an older rest stop. Did have a restroom, and did have 18-wheelers parked on all sides but 1. And the freeway Also, it was very hot and we could only have one window opened oh so slightly, or we would have been completely dieseled fumed. We didn't last long, went on down the road after a very short nap. I'm glad y'all made it through to the other side.
That was so funny...that one battery was dead but there were 8 or 9 other batteries all around it that aren't! And that's the biggest problem with rocket launches. They tend to get scrubbed...you make all these plans, move things around and go out of your way for the launch, only for them to scrub it at the last minute!

We using Invisibrake as our brake controller, yet our brake lights are similar to yours. We experienced the same thing the brake lights on our toad with only the left and right lights illuminating when our RV depresses the brake. Afterwards I realized the brake light controller is only connected to our left and right brake lights instead of our third brake light. We have a 2003 Wrangler as a toad. I hope all is well and continue to RV!

So I have an Air Force one on my Winnebago Journey. My brake lights are tied to the brake lights on the Rv. They should come on when the Rv brake lights come on (including when the exhaust brake comes on. The care brake lights are controlled by the 7 pin electrical wire. The brakes are applied by the air hose to the unit under the hood. There is a light to be installed on the front windshield which can be seen in the back up camera. This light should tell you if the brakes are being applied (along with feeling it. Bottom line, the brake light coming on or not on the car do not necessarily indicate is the brakes on the road are being applied. When the exhaust brake comes on, the brake lights on the road should come on but the brakes on the road will not be applied.
We camped at a park close today to Ohio years ago. Right next to Amtrak tracks. Trains going all night. The worst.

We are small"ish" at a 22' trailer, have one vehicle and pretty much for a reason. We can fit in most places, but Florida is an entire different story.
I owned a store beside a train crossing. There were 36 trains day and night, every 24 hours. I feel for you!

What happened to your battery boost switch ? it's on the right switch panel by the side window. It saved me a couple of times when we had a similar rig. 2006 Fleetwood 39L
It was disabled when the solar system was put in. I know there is a way to link it back up, but it will take running some wire. I figured jumper cables would work for now. Except, I forgot to get them before our trip, lol.
@@GratefulGlamper Isolating them is a good thing because the BCCs in some of these rigs will try to charge your "house"
batteries while you're driving which will destroy your LiFePO₄ banks.
Jumping off your LiFePO₄ bank is for emergencies - they're not designed for it (although it looks like _you specifically_ might have enough in parallel that you can get away with it) - it's best avoided.
Your Solar installer was 110% right. Keep them isolated.
Sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem. I would check my fuel filter and water separator. These can and often give you these kind of problems. You can change them out yourself for around $100 for both. What a difference it will make when you do , but that is my guess. I figured this out then you first stated the motorhome on the video. That is my option but can't say for sure but I would bet on it .
Forget the train, and forget the flea market, watching Bren blow into that tube was priceless. Reminds me of a joke about the Lone Ranger and Tonto, I will not tell it here, but the punch line is : "Kemosabe, you gonna die" My work here is done.

I'm 26:00 mins into the video at the time of this comment. Oh My Gosh! This is bringing back so many memories! Memories form 38 years ago! Yes, that long. I bought my first surf board at Ron Jon's! I learned to surf at Cocoa Beach & at Sebastian Inlet to be exact. lol To see how it's changed is going to be exciting!
Oh Shoot, you didn't get a shot of the sign, . . . . . . And it was definitely not anywhere near that size it seems to be today, lol. It's great to learn that they have stayed as big and popular as they were.

We stayed with some friends up in northern Minnesota but with no hook for the weekend so we though no big deal it was great weather and to just leave the windows open well about 1am the first train goes by & blows the horn I about had a heart attack it was so loud

How the heck does rain mess up the hot water heater?
With the Furrion tankless water heaters, they have a flaw with the exhaust tubing - in heavy rains if it get's wet it gives off an error - It's a design flaw I imagine will be rectified in future models.
Wow how cool a camp spot. Its like the TV show " petticoat junction " with trains coming by your front door.... Nothing a set off ear plugs wont fix so you can get your beauty sleep. Put a few pennies on the tracks and check out how a train flattens them... :-) hahahaha
