Explore Plovdiv with me video: th-cam.com/video/cEp3RWWVLsQ/w-d-xo.html Today I'll be discussing a number of reasons why I believe Plovdiv, Bulgaria may be better than Chiang Mai for EU citizens (and those with access to EU visas) as a digital nomad/expat/remote worker location. Plovdiv offers fast internet, great weather, interesting culture, awesome food and a cost of living that rivals Chiang Mai and many other digital nomad hotspots.
You've basically answered all the questions I've been trying to research. I've made a move from classroom teaching to online teaching and looking for a place where me and my Chinese wife can live for a bit. Plovdiv seems perfect. Thanks for uploading a really helpful video. I definitely owe you a beer if I see you in Plovdiv in the next few months!
Hi Jamal, you are delivering some great content on this country so a big thanks to you! I was born In the UK from Caribbean parents who liked exploring themselves. I discovered Bulgaria several years ago through the love of mountain sports, now I try and visit at least once a year as there are lots of places I still haven’t visited in this country yet. I now have a property in the Rhodope mountain range because this country keeps growing me! I think Bulgarian people need to stay proud of what they have as quality of life will improve for them over time, and it’s people like yourself also choosing to settle in Bulgaria that contributes, encourages, and will help the country to become what we know it can become. Keep up the good work man😀
I am so happy you like Plovdiv so much. I am really frustrated when someone shows the country in a way which only reveals some problems which many MANY countries are facing as well. I would recommend you to visit my home city - Shumen. Great places to visit there - Shumen Plateau Nature Park, Madara Rider, Golden church in Preslav, Pliska, Monument to 1300 Years of Bulgaria and more. Enjoy life.
Thanks Djamal I currently live in London but I'm born and grow up in Plovdiv. I really appreciate your video. That warm up my heart and make me proud with Plovdiv. It is really pleasant place to visit like many other in Bulgaria. Love it.
Been to Bulgaria once back in July 2012. It is an amazing country. Beautiful country all around and the people are awesome and hospitable. Unfortunately I only had a bus ride through Plodiv so didn't get to check out the city as most of my time was spent in Shumen and the surrounding area. However I do want to go back one day to visit again. I'm so glad I found this channel. I subbed and look forward to this channel growing. Keep up the good work.

Nice job, I just stumbled on to you and this is the first video we watched. We're traveling the world doing our own channel and are considering Bulgaria as a home base when we get to Europe in May. Maybe Plovdiv is better than other parts of the country. I'm bulgarian and my boyfriend is from the Caribbean. We come home every summer and have holidays on the Black sea. I mean I'm pretty sure that crime in Bulgaria compared to many westerner countries is not what you'd expect, here aren't that many murders or some serious shit like that, usually it is vandalism and other stupid shit that like 99% of the time does not end up with people being hurt, but yeah there is crime, I've had friends robbed, and friends beaten, however that usually only happens in late hours, in some remote regions in the bigger cities, during the day, and even during nighttime in bigger cities, around the more central regions it's pretty safe. I've gone drunken hard time at late hours like 4-5AM, I literally can't remember shit, friends have told me I couldn't have walked straight, all the way half the city to my home on foot, and not been robbed or anything, more than once, however that is in Varna, in Sofia I've only once gone very, very drunk all the way to the place I was staying again without issues, using my phone as GPS(not sure how I managed tbh), lmao. And as far as racism goes, yeah the usual stares are normal I mean, I beg your understanding, but black people are not common here so it is normal for people to stare sometimes, however as time goes and people get used to it, less and less will that happen. But verbal or physical abuse, that's another thing, that happens everywhere around the world, we can just hope it gets better with time. Anyways, love your video and what you do to promote our country, hope you will stay for a long time.
" It doesn't rain much here " - Meanwhile in Varna we're drowning all summer long cuz it rains every day, it's like a rainforest, you have those downpour hours in the early afternoon every freaking day, it might be short for like an hour, but holy shit it's always a total shitstorm, today a freaking I don't know how many tonne crane, most definitely over 20 tons, got fucking flung by the wind, and crashed into the end of the rails and for a moment I thought it will topple over. I love the weather over here, it's like I live in a different country during the summer.
I feel like life in Bulgaria looks cool for foreigners, but it's not cool for people who are actually born here. There's a lot of upset and dissatisfied people here about all kinds of things. That's what I'm hearing from my Bulgarian people. Maybe foreigners would like the life here because they don't need to care about what has been going on in the past. The things is, I don't know much, but I know that euros are better than levs.
Thanks for the comment mate. The past is irrelevant for hard working Bulgarians. It's time to focus on the future and build the country up. I know many very very happy young hard working Bulgarians who love the country and know that it is objectively better than Western Europe if you're creative/work hard.
Well most countries we are born into is never nice for someone us. Hence why people move alot where they treated right. The country your born in because people know you and see you as their country man they believe you owe them and then they believe they can say and do to you as they feel. But when people see foreigners they then to think before they act in most cases and give them space also. Just my experience from living in 4 countries and still not liking mines in the Caribbean islands.
Bulgarians complain a lot. They think they're super poor and it's just not true. There's some real poverty in the world and Bulgarians are definitely privileged. However, while Bulgarians love to hate on their own country they're indeed lovely friends and have a lot of fun
What's wrong with the alphabet. It takes less than a day to learn...First of all it's far from weird it's simply Cyrillic (an alphabet used by almost over 50 countries). Aside from that using something so superficial and easily navigated (alphabet) as your measure of whether or not you should visit a country isn't the smartest thing...
If you mean the alphabet that cost the life of the brightest minds in Europe, was subsequently adopted by the largest country on the planet and preserved several nations from cultural extinction - it's not going away. If it didn't surrender to two empires, there's no reason why it should be abolished. That being said, you are still welcome, if you change your mind.

Unless they change that weird alphabet . never going back there !!
Please stay away if you can't even learn the alphabet
