"Portuguese Knitting" Lesson - Ribbing 1/1

  • This video teaches you how to do a K1 P1 Ribbing in the portuguese style.
    It does not intend to teach how to purl or knit. I have tow separate videos that have those techniques.

    Thanks for showing this! Most of the village women in Turkey knit this way too, and they are so fast you can hardly follow their fingers.

    I see you need to put the yarn back in knit or purl position at the end of each stitch but it's much faster doing it this way than by other methods. I'm learning and like it much for the speed that is possible. Thank you!

    Today I have done a wide 1/1 ribbed band on a hat using this method and it was much faster than the continental way I did before, and also not as tiring so I could work longer. With the continental my hands became very tired after 4 hours work and I had to force myself to stop.

    The tension is coming from the yarn around my neck and my right midle finger, check out my other videos to learn how to put the hands and yarn correctly to knit in the portuguese way.
