Personally I go by gameplay so Tiberian Sun is like Part 1 for me, Red Alert 2 is a prequel sequel to Tiberian Sun then finally C&C 3. 🤙 Though I absolutely miss applying concrete 😁 and if I'm not mistaken it's not in C&C3. Concrete was so satisfying to add and tactical. it prevented craters from explosions and stopped underground forces. 🤙 The terrain is my favorite. The dark war torn wasteland of a world is felt furshure. It's why I can't get into the other games. I like the future setting too much.
I used to go to the Boys and Girls Club as a teen and met a kid who wasn't supposed to install anything on any computer but he installed and connected all 10 computers in the room. 😁 Some people had no idea what it was. Smart kid. Because of him I got to play Tiberian Sun, Age of Empires and the Star Wars one with Age of Empire graphics.....and StarCraft of course. I remember that one being the hardest game. Now it's all in limbo. 🤦
While I absolutely love Red Alert 2 to bits, I think Tiberian Sun is the game that needs a lot more quality of life improvements and possible streamlining of some of its gameplay elements. But I'd welcome a remaster/remake of them both.

Gen challange was good would have been better of some of the matches where not piss easy. Like fights with the air force gen and auch they just stop doing stuff after awhile
@@LunaPPK airforce general and tank general seem to suffer a lack of longterm staying power, once you defeat their initial waves they seem to almost give up because they have not really expanded their resources.

CNC 3 was the first I ever played. I still play it. I first played when I was 8 and my uncle showed it to me. I would play for hours and hours in a dark corner of the house just to not get caught playing at almost 3am 😅 it will forever hold the tort h in my book
For me it has got to be the Remastered Collection because It has both Tib Dawn and Red Alert, otherwise I'd be picking one of them as the best. The first C&C was one of the first games I ever played and Red Alert was probably the game I've played most over my life! 27 years later and I still love playing them!
My first game when I was like 8 or 9 was Generals ZH, the challenge mode still is fun. Now I really enjoy RA2 and Tib Sun they feel so filled with depth.
When playing tiberium wars I loved it for quite a while and would play it for hours on end although I eventually got bored and almost moved on until I discovered Kane's Wrath which completely revived my entire outlook on the franchise. This made me go on to get other games and start getting involved with the community to the point where I would not be here watching this if Kane's Wrath didn't exist and I easily have at least 2x as many hours on it compared to tib wars. Tiberium wars is good but for me Kane's Wrath is just so much better
One big thing with Tiberium wars is it’s incredibly easier to mod and use these mods , so I can just recommend trying them out and replaying the campaigns with them they get insane and a lot of fun very quickly if u play with Tiberium advanced on the gdi White House mission be aware that the MCV gets stuck outside the map but can be selected and commanded inside by rotating the camera and pulling a selection field towards the black edge
I think a detail that should have been included in the Yuri's revenge segment was that it was (if I'm not mistaken) the first C&C entry to provide unique VOs for every unit. RA2 had standardized VO for all of each factions land vehicles (Rhino tank VO applied to all soviet vehicles). It was Yuri's revenge that gave each unit a unique VO, a trend that carried on to all subsequent series entries. The expansion gave us that great Apocalypse tank voice.
Really, admittedly it's been a very long time since I've played RA2 (once I got Yuri's revenge, I didn't look back), but I'm pretty sure I remember different voices for different units. And I _know_ Kirovs had their own voice.
@@Nukestarmaster Tanks and ships each shared a voice in RA2, and were changed in YR. But all infantry and air units always had their own unique voices, so that's probably what you're remembering.
You know, nostalgia had me fuming a little seeing Yuri's Revenge only coming in at #2, but I have to admit Tiberium Wars was a stellar effort, and a fantastic addition to the series, long awaited. I'm gonna play that one again thanks to your list!
I agree with your list when we now look back on the saga. But at the time of release, C&C classic was the best. The C&C3 campain was the best experience for me. After playing GDI and NOD I thought that was it, and as a surprise, a new faction appeared, one more campain! One of the best moments in gameplay history of my life. I bough the complete saga but every single game had issues running on Windows 10. Not sure how they can even sell it...
We all know which is worst right… 4 made me cry with despair. Had the developers ever played a single second of a previous C&C? I lasted till halfway through the second mission. Never again.
For me Dune was probably most played game ever on my A500. C&C 1 when first released was a fascinating game that defined the genre. I didn't have a PC at the time so would occasionally go to my friends house who had a 360SX pc that could boot the game. RA was the game we would hot seat with classmates after school, it was good but nothing less, nothing more. So.. Generals was the prime of the genre. It combined the old and the new mechanics very well. Not to mention it was the first game that introduced a lot of people to MP rts.
I might be mistaken but at the moment, it's Zero Hour that has the biggest multipleyer community. Thousands of active players, a lot of streamers that are active every days and big-prize tournaments. Quite good for almost 18 years old game!
You are missing a game: Command & Conquer: Sole Survivor. It was an attempt to turn the game into a battle royal type game. In the game you played a single unit from the first C&C game against multiple players(I think up to 16). You had to grab crates from around the map to boost your character, but there were still mismatches like the commando vs a mammoth tank. It probably would be at the bottom of any game list.
It's too bad that the sequel to Generals was cancelled. It was then replaced with a free-to-play online command & conquer game just called Command & Conquer. But no one liked the beta because it was free-to-play, pay-to-win so it was also scrapped. I remember trying to get in on the beta, but after registering my log in would never work. EA support didn't bother responding to support requests. Note that what I am talking about here is not Tiberium Alliances. T.A. was released in 2012 but the one just called Command & Conquer was slated for a December 2013 release and was under development by Victory Games. However my memory of trying to play the beta might be for Tiberium Alliances.. Hard to remember when it was a decade ago :|
I would personally put RA2 and YR in the first and second spot on my list, followed by Tib Wars, KW, RA 3, the remasters, Renegade and then basically the rest after it. Scrub Rivals and Tib Twilight from the list entirely.
hahaha. i'm playing #3 again right now. fantastic game, wspecially after trying to give 4 another try and hucking it away after 2 missions in disgust. my two are always going to be #2 and #3. That was the peak of this series, and those were great days for the industry as its golden era was winding down into the crap we have now.

C&C 3, oh man I played so much of that game with my best friend online on the Xbox. Yeah the Xbox port was actually good and played well. Good pick for a number one.
My vote is C&C 3 Kanes Wrath followed by Generals zero hour), then Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge. Renegade is an honorable mention, especially considering it's not an RTS. Absolutely agree that Twilight was garbage.
Weird. I remember loving C&C as a kid, playing red alert 2 the most and Generals being one of my favorites. But when C&C 3 came around I remember I really didn't like it at all. Maybe at some point when I come back to these games I will give it another shot. Great video.
Same here. I remember playing for a couple weeks, getting top 100 on ladder and then just quitting out of boredom. C&C3 was the beginning of the end for the franchise ~ I don't know why anyone would have it in their top 5 but to each their own.
@@Zaghi1337 Kane's wrath did far more revitalize C&C3 than many remember. As a standalone C&C3 was decent, but was quite boring and was blown out of the water by RA3. If RA3 got an expansion as good I really think it would have shifted conversation significantly.

Wait, EA never made a fourth Command & Conquer in the Tiberium Universe. C&C4 has to be a terrible fan game. The last C&C game EA made in the Tiberium Universe prior to the C&C Remaster was C&C 3: Tib Wars and Kane's Wrath.

Just curious... what was the reason for placing the DLCs Zero Hour and Kane's Wrath below their initial game? With that said I'll stand with you on you're pick of C&C3 Tiberium Wars as top. I played them all... loved them all, but kept loading Tiberium Wars when I needed a comp stomp fix. Sadly back then I had a potato, but overclocking my AMD (8250?) and blowing a small box fan on my PC case with side cover removed did the trick for years. Huh, so the game was actually only 30fps? I guess that makes me feel a little better in some strange way because I would've never known the difference. True story, the box fan worked. I found out by cutting it off one day and the PC shut itself down after 20 minutes or so. Let's just say I got my money's worth from that cheap fan. I do remember online play was very laggy when I finally talked a friend into playing. It could have been my rig or internet at the time too. I just remember how miserable it was to know I would be stuck stomping comps alone. Yeah we need some remakes. It's been 14 years and something gave me the urge to dive in. Looking at mods right now which led me here somehow. Take care and thanks for the videos.
I remember the absolute rage to comically levels now I look back at the reveal of Rivals, but a few months later I did try it and its a great time waster when you're sat at work with nothing to do. I guess its like a lot of mobile games, something bitesized to waste your time while you're waiting for something, just pick your flavour really.

I'm really hoping Tiberium Sun and RA2 Get remastered together. I also wouldn't Mind a Generals Remake. I would pay full price for a remaster/remade of any one of those games if they extended the campaign a bit.

Pretty fair summary, with the exception of Generals. I just never liked it from the start.. but I'm probably in the minority on that. I started out on the original C&C when it was released and obviously moved on to Red Alert, Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun when they came out. Of these three, Red Alert 2 was my all time favorite, but hard to pick now between that and the new re-masters of the originals. I've got both C&C & Red Alert 3 titles, but just haven't had the time or inclination to get into them... yet. I think that speaks volumes on how good the originals were and still are.
This is so on point and exactly how I would have graded it. Except I would have put the RA3 lower. Some people put Red Alert 3 very high but that game's popularity was mainly based on its predescessor RA2's popularity. RA3 felt way over the top and too cartoonish and bafoonish. Too much colors and little atmosphere. The Futuristic Empire of the Rising Sun just never felt believable compared to to the RA2's Commie vs Capitalist factions. Also Yuri was menacing as a villain. RA3 felt like overexaggeration of the previous units and that seriousness was kinda gone. CnC3 was the last game where they got that dark yet believable alternate universe with its own idosyncracies done well. Its just sometimes even a soundtrack can kill a game's vibe. If they only kept the atmosphere of CnC3 the same in Red Alert3...
I think it depends. For me it was tiberian games. I disliked red alert series as I found them too goofy (the second one was okay despite being goofy). Tiberian sun was my favorite and firestorm. Generals was good though. I wish petroglyph would make a generals type game but call it something else.
We can all agree that EA absolutely failed and lived up to their reputation when they dropped production on the sequel to Generals last decade. Could have had a General 3. But NOOOOOOO! EA being EA. For those of you that don't know... there is a decent mod of RA3 called Generals Evolution that is worth playing. It is not bad, and don't remarkably well. 🐄🛸

I came ro this video after having enjoyed these rts games, my first c&c is generals and zero hour but now i believe so i love RA3 the best although i only have played those three, still ra3 is pretty good.

On a more serious note: while I would put Red Alert 2 and Generals above Tiberium Wars (with their expansions of course, super critical in the case of Generals) but it's quite a solid list, RA2 was my first RTS (heck might even be my first video game) and I have serious issues playing its predecessors, they feel jarring even with the remaster (which improves things a lot) and I can see why they've changed them after Tiberian Sun (which is also jarring to play for me). Probably my favourite game series, how bad it died such an ungraceful death. I've been part of the Closed Beta, it had some really serious issues and felt like Ground Control more than a C&C game, something was off even back then. It wasn't even supposed to be a mainline C&C game apparently but sort of an Online Spin-off, which it might have done well as, but it was forced to become a mainline (and a story ending) to the series by EA (which announced it would close EALA at the game's release during its development, which it did) so it never really had a chance...
As my current profile might give it away, I love the xeno force mod for zero hour. With that said, I was first introduced to the rts genre with generals deluxe (generals and zero hour). So I guess I am going to say zero hour. I haven't had the opportunity to fully get into the other cnc games but I just recently bought the games from origin. I might even update on this later
edit: I first played mayday(boris games) but I wasn't aware of the genre as I was about 5 when I first played it... so technically, that was my first unofficial rts. although I didn't play it, I watched my cousins play starcraft 1 and was introduced to rts without playing it. Still, my previous statement is still valid because that was what got me to play all the rts games I came across.
This personal for me worst to best: c&c1 to 2 and red alert, red alert 2 and Yuri revenge, c&c3 and Kane wrath, Renegade, c&c4 and rival, the best is c&c generals and zero hour also no one can change my mind oh yeah i forgot red alert 3 and uprising is the real best if anyone one wondering the first c&c i play is red alert 2
I agree, its one of if not the best RTS imho. Being able to be self sufficient resource wise is great, that's what I hate about almsot all other RTS games, that's why Supreme Commander is also a great game. Would love even a great remake of Generals ZH
Generals and C&C3 really came into their own with their expansions. I've probably played the Generals' Challenge mode more than any other single C&C game. C&C3 was pretty great in multiplayer too. Really the apex of the series and I'll agree with you on that one, which makes it all the more of a shame that they never produced any C&C games ever again after that, shut up
I would say RA2 would be my no 1, even if it is a game that introduced me to C&C and RTS games as a whole. it is also the one game i never actually get tired of. Despite the old age making it difficult to run, once you do it just fun. thats the things, the whole game is enjoyable and fun to play and i always fall back on it from all the C&C games.
I am somewhat intrigued to see what a strawpoll or some such would show off as a C&C ranking in your fanbase. I disagree a little, I'd put Tibsun higher than Tibwars and all that, but you prefer what you prefer and all that and I've enjoyed (almost) all C&C games as a whole with their own little niche
My all time favorite was Red Alert 2 ,and Yuri's Revenge. Loved them and literally have never even played the newest C&C's not once lol! I liked generals ,and zero hour ,they were okay. I did like the old Tiberian Sun ,and other as well. Not the newest ones though.

Good list. For me Red Alert 2 is #1. The game of childhood pretty much.
My favorite is RA3 due to its fast paced gameplay and it's cartoony art style. I get that it's not for some people but to me it's a very solid game.

TW3 has my favorite faction, GDI, RA 2 and 3 have the best soundtracks, Generals is fun for its “realism.”
Maybe it’s because it was a staple of my childhood , but Red Alert 2 is my favorite game of all time.
I would go with generals zero hour being my no.1

hahaha. i'm playing #3 again right now. fantastic game, wspecially after trying to give 4 another try and hucking it away after 2 missions in disgust. my two are always going to be #2 and #3. That was the peak of this series, and those were great days for the industry as its golden era was winding down into the crap we have now.
I'm surprised the little that command and conquer kanes wrath ranked lower than command and conquer 3 I came into this video with the full expectation that command and conquer three take #1 and no less dot
Never played Tiberium Wars, but I loved the rest of your list. Red Alert 2 was the best IMO
I like to sort the franchise in two categories when it comes to my personal worst to best lists.
Westwood: Tiberian Dawn, Renegade, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert, Red Alert 2
EALA: Tiberian Twilight, Generals, Tiberium Wars, Red Alert 3
Playing Red Alert 2 on my brand new Windows XP machine will be the only highlight of being forced to move away from my friends and school.
Dunno bout best but Generals is my clear favorite, and the mods for it are amazing

I'd say Tiberium Sun... thr atmosphere, music, and campaign were on point, Tib3 was good, just a mess with balance. And generals was very fun as fuck.
One of the main reasons I have a retro gaming pc is the C&C series. Have them all.

C&C3 has some of the best multiplayer of any of the entries.
C&C 3, oh man I played so much of that game with my best friend online on the Xbox. Yeah the Xbox port was actually good and played well. Good pick for a number one.
My vote is C&C 3 Kanes Wrath followed by Generals zero hour), then Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge. Renegade is an honorable mention, especially considering it's not an RTS. Absolutely agree that Twilight was garbage.
Tiberian Sun was my favorite. And the multi-player with the bots and map creation was great.

Weird. I remember loving C&C as a kid, playing red alert 2 the most and Generals being one of my favorites. But when C&C 3 came around I remember I really didn't like it at all. Maybe at some point when I come back to these games I will give it another shot. Great video.
Same here. I remember playing for a couple weeks, getting top 100 on ladder and then just quitting out of boredom. C&C3 was the beginning of the end for the franchise ~ I don't know why anyone would have it in their top 5 but to each their own.
@@Zaghi1337 Kane's wrath did far more revitalize C&C3 than many remember. As a standalone C&C3 was decent, but was quite boring and was blown out of the water by RA3. If RA3 got an expansion as good I really think it would have shifted conversation significantly.

Wait, EA never made a fourth Command & Conquer in the Tiberium Universe. C&C4 has to be a terrible fan game. The last C&C game EA made in the Tiberium Universe prior to the C&C Remaster was C&C 3: Tib Wars and Kane's Wrath.

Just curious... what was the reason for placing the DLCs Zero Hour and Kane's Wrath below their initial game? With that said I'll stand with you on you're pick of C&C3 Tiberium Wars as top. I played them all... loved them all, but kept loading Tiberium Wars when I needed a comp stomp fix. Sadly back then I had a potato, but overclocking my AMD (8250?) and blowing a small box fan on my PC case with side cover removed did the trick for years.
Huh, so the game was actually only 30fps? I guess that makes me feel a little better in some strange way because I would've never known the difference. True story, the box fan worked. I found out by cutting it off one day and the PC shut itself down after 20 minutes or so. Let's just say I got my money's worth from that cheap fan.
I do remember online play was very laggy when I finally talked a friend into playing. It could have been my rig or internet at the time too. I just remember how miserable it was to know I would be stuck stomping comps alone. Yeah we need some remakes. It's been 14 years and something gave me the urge to dive in. Looking at mods right now which led me here somehow. Take care and thanks for the videos.

I remember the absolute rage to comically levels now I look back at the reveal of Rivals, but a few months later I did try it and its a great time waster when you're sat at work with nothing to do. I guess its like a lot of mobile games, something bitesized to waste your time while you're waiting for something, just pick your flavour really.
I like that your list has EA Los Angeles-developed titles as book ends. They both created the _worst_ C&C game and the _best_ C&C game. The duality of EA Los Angeles.
Renegade being shelved in favor of Battlefield is a travesty.

Pretty fair summary, with the exception of Generals. I just never liked it from the start.. but I'm probably in the minority on that. I started out on the original C&C when it was released and obviously moved on to Red Alert, Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun when they came out. Of these three, Red Alert 2 was my all time favorite, but hard to pick now between that and the new re-masters of the originals. I've got both C&C & Red Alert 3 titles, but just haven't had the time or inclination to get into them... yet. I think that speaks volumes on how good the originals were and still are.

C&C Generals should've just been called Generals. It has nothing to do with Command & Conquer.
This is so on point and exactly how I would have graded it. Except I would have put the RA3 lower.
Some people put Red Alert 3 very high but that game's popularity was mainly based on its predescessor RA2's popularity. RA3 felt way over the top and too cartoonish and bafoonish. Too much colors and little atmosphere.
The Futuristic Empire of the Rising Sun just never felt believable compared to to the RA2's Commie vs Capitalist factions. Also Yuri was menacing as a villain. RA3 felt like overexaggeration of the previous units and that seriousness was kinda gone. CnC3 was the last game where they got that dark yet believable alternate universe with its own idosyncracies done well.
Its just sometimes even a soundtrack can kill a game's vibe.
If they only kept the atmosphere of CnC3 the same in Red Alert3...

I think it depends. For me it was tiberian games. I disliked red alert series as I found them too goofy (the second one was okay despite being goofy). Tiberian sun was my favorite and firestorm. Generals was good though. I wish petroglyph would make a generals type game but call it something else.

We can all agree that EA absolutely failed and lived up to their reputation when they dropped production on the sequel to Generals last decade. Could have had a General 3. But NOOOOOOO! EA being EA.

I came ro this video after having enjoyed these rts games, my first c&c is generals and zero hour but now i believe so i love RA3 the best although i only have played those three, still ra3 is pretty good.

On a more serious note: while I would put Red Alert 2 and Generals above Tiberium Wars (with their expansions of course, super critical in the case of Generals) but it's quite a solid list, RA2 was my first RTS (heck might even be my first video game) and I have serious issues playing its predecessors, they feel jarring even with the remaster (which improves things a lot) and I can see why they've changed them after Tiberian Sun (which is also jarring to play for me).
Probably my favourite game series, how bad it died such an ungraceful death.
I've been part of the Closed Beta, it had some really serious issues and felt like Ground Control more than a C&C game, something was off even back then.
It wasn't even supposed to be a mainline C&C game apparently but sort of an Online Spin-off, which it might have done well as, but it was forced to become a mainline (and a story ending) to the series by EA (which announced it would close EALA at the game's release during its development, which it did) so it never really had a chance...

As my current profile might give it away, I love the xeno force mod for zero hour. With that said, I was first introduced to the rts genre with generals deluxe (generals and zero hour). So I guess I am going to say zero hour. I haven't had the opportunity to fully get into the other cnc games but I just recently bought the games from origin. I might even update on this later
edit: I first played mayday(boris games) but I wasn't aware of the genre as I was about 5 when I first played it... so technically, that was my first unofficial rts. although I didn't play it, I watched my cousins play starcraft 1 and was introduced to rts without playing it. Still, my previous statement is still valid because that was what got me to play all the rts games I came across.

Zero Hour in 9th place is just a crime. Its the best RTS content that was ever created in the history of videogames
even though zero hour is a great game(I would rate it atleast above redalert 3) it's not really the best videogame or the best RTS.
I agree, its one of if not the best RTS imho.
Being able to be self sufficient resource wise is great, that's what I hate about almsot all other RTS games, that's why Supreme Commander is also a great game.

Generals and C&C3 really came into their own with their expansions. I've probably played the Generals' Challenge mode more than any other single C&C game. C&C3 was pretty great in multiplayer too. Really the apex of the series and I'll agree with you on that one, which makes it all the more of a shame that they never produced any C&C games ever again after that, shut up
I would say RA2 would be my no 1, even if it is a game that introduced me to C&C and RTS games as a whole. it is also the one game i never actually get tired of.
Despite the old age making it difficult to run, once you do it just fun. thats the things, the whole game is enjoyable and fun to play and i always fall back on it from all the C&C games.

I disagree a little, I'd put Tibsun higher than Tibwars and all that, but you prefer what you prefer and all that and I've enjoyed (almost) all C&C games as a whole with their own little niche

My all time favorite was Red Alert 2 ,and Yuri's Revenge. Loved them and literally have never even played the newest C&C's not once lol! I liked generals ,and zero hour ,they were okay. I did like the old Tiberian Sun ,and other as well. Not the newest ones though.
