Genuinely rare to find a perfect album, not a bad track on here, goes into my top 3 with Dream Theaters scenes from a memory and Avantasia the metal opera part 1. Absolutely stunning
Been following since the algorthim gave me "Stop Saying We Sound Like Dragonforce" when it dropped, and man did you really deliver everything I enjoyed about your style of guitar with this album. Insanely catchy, cheesy, downright inspirational melodies throughout, with banjos, chicken pickin' and channeling your inner nyan cat to top it off. Your music sure does "make me feel so powerful" and I'm all for your "stupid catchy melodies", keep up the brilliant work mate.
Thanks so much James! All hail the algorithm! I would have liked to have done another album with vocals actually but my singer guy wasn't really available so I took the chance to do an instrumental guitar thing! Now I'm working on new stuff with vocals which is fun! Hopefully release some new songs/videos in the next month or so!
After listening to this album for quite a while now, I can say that I'm still astonished. It's such a beautifully crafted piece of art. I love every single song and I can listen to this album from the first track to the last several times a day. Your feeling for melody and harmony is just extraordinary in my humble opinion. You easily became my favorite musician - I love all your projects that I know about. Ascension, Sharky Sharky and your solo stuff of course. It's so inspiring to me and it hit me at a time when I was thinking about throwing in the towel. This album is like a wordless promise that everything's somehow gonna be fine at some point. If one day you feel like sharing your thoughts, or writing/recording process behind this album - I'd probably watch that video 10 times a day 😁 I wish you all the best and that your stream of creativity never stops. 🤘
Thanks mate! I did do some interviews about the writing process with some publications you might find if you search. I think I wrote the bulk of it in about a month and a half period of massive creativity where I also wrote a lot of other stuff too. I wish every month could be like that haha. That being said, the actual recording process took about 6 months maybe. I use guitar pro a lot to write my songs on, which I think is key, songs of this speed and complexity aren't that easy to 'just jam out' like how a lot of rock people might write their songs.
@@FraserEdwards thank you for that answer! Funny that you mention guitar pro... I saw you using it in some videos (like the crouching comrades songwriting challenge, - love it! ) and already thought about getting it. It might help to break out of these boxes that we (or at least I) as guitarists all too often get stuck in. Either way I'm gonna take you as an example and try to work on writing better, more interesting melodies 🤘
Once in a blue moon, TH-cam will give me a music video instead of a commercial. I saw "The Champion" and was hooked. I love this album. It simultaneously scratches my itch for Anamanaguchi, Eric Johnson, and Banjo Guy Ollie. Also, my Bluefront Amazon parrot likes as much as I do 🦜
@@FraserEdwards 4 months on and this album is still on my playlist, dude you rock on a whole new level; keep an eye open on your Patreon my guy, I'll be seeing ya there real soon!
The recent wave of instru-metal music is encouraging. I gave up on working with vocalists (writing around vocals/lyrics) a long time ago; I see the world is finally catching up :P
I swear to god I click on your videos and I'm instantly lifted to a higher state. You never cease to amaze me. The combination between all that technical shreddy stuff and those beautifully arranged melodies... Its both inspiring and touching. I also love that you combine and borrow so many elements from different genres 🤘
Fraser, my man, love the new stuff. Was recommending you to some guys at the office today, glad to come online afterward and see new content. Gotta love when the universe throws out synchronicity. I may be off base but I detect some Appalachia banjo holler vibes and my inner hillbilly is tub thumping.
Dude you're so fucking good. Music and guitar playing has needed someone like you for so long. You combine the amazing musicianship that musicians had to work for back in the day with the inhuman technical abilities. Not to mention the music is fucking passionate!!!!! You are epic sir
This guy is going to break world records for sure playing like that!!! He might even shred faster than the likes of Michael Angelo Batio and Buckethead 🤘😜😜😜🤘
been listening to this a LOT the past couple months; really well-done, catchy and memorable tracks. great job on the production as well, the mixing is flawless! i do all my own audio engineering as well save mastering, so i definitely understand how much work goes into everything here. do you self-produce for ascension as well? many kudos, really polished album!
@@raffy57 The album does a pretty good job of that already. My first question was really a roundabout way of complementing the dude. Didn't mean to get you all bothered. I'm a big fan of them and this guy both. /woosh
@@starius1154 I hear your point and i respect it. It's just that nowadays people jump on every new thing and feel the need to say the "old" thing is not good enough anymore. That's the feeling i got through your comment and i'm glad that i was wrong.
it is a pity that there is no singer on this CD. Many tunes would make great songs in their own right. they remain beautiful of course, but as far as I'm concerned, a bit incomplete
Currently I have more views than this video on my Apple Music cos it’s on non stop 😂❤been spreading the ascension word dude my mates was blown away by sayanara
@@FraserEdwards I mean your guitar playing is insane when your doing instrumentals but them solos bro are absolutely next level so creative you guys deserve so much more recognition it makes me sick lol 😆 can’t wait dude 🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well, this is a first for the algorithm. TH-cam not only suggested something good, but blew my socks clean out of the room. There's something familiar yet unknown about this album. Amazing stuff! 🚀🪐👾🤘

The guitars sound insanely precise! I have no idea what kind of voodoo magic gets you this kind of sound, but I love it!

I'm not, are you ? Objectively ?
