Transcribing Intonation: Peter Roach introduces the ToBI system

Peter Roach is Emeritus Professor of Phonetics at Reading University. He is also the author of 'English Phonetics and Phonology', the fourth edition of which was published by Cambridge University Press in March 2009.
Here, Peter Roach introduces the ToBI system for transcribing and analysing intonation, explaining how it was developed.
