If there was only 4 or 5 turtles it might be easier to see the different designs they have on their shell but it he's got like 10 or more at that point you just choose your favorite and hope he loves you too lol

You feed them so well is probably why it was less than you expected. One year the Japanese beetles were so bad after catching them in the bag traps I took them to a lake & dumped them in. It was mostly made of sand and gravel, it probably got washed away by the rain
