  • Footage of me appearing on the news during the ongoing Luzerne, Pennsylvania subsidence disaster in Toby Creek, Luzerne County. The King of Coal was out and about surveying his Coal Dominion and the media kept begging him for a rare interview. The media has slighted me however and will not be getting further interviews due to their lack of proper respect by addressing me as the King.

    Your sense of humor rocks, my friend.
    You should also know that you're my favorite "mine enthusiast" on TH-cam 😂

    Hey Jude, "Coal King," I was perusing TH-cam yesterday when I came across flooded "Mine Subsidence" problems effecting Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley. Naturally my curiosity peaked and watched several local news clips to find out more. Low and behold, the next thing I saw was "The Coal King" himself, being interviewed by the reporter and said to myself, whoa, that's Jude, I know that dude. I didn't like when she referred to you as a "coal-mining enthusiast," as opposed to a local coal-mining historian. Nevertheless, you are now officially famous throughout the Wyoming Valley! Great interview, great video, brother from another mother!!

    Im glad people like you were there to fill out the story. I'm the "I thought it was a pothole" guy and they cut a LOT of useless crap that i said. In my defense, I told her off camera that I wasnt really aware that anything was happening and that she should probably ask somebody else.

    • @AnthraciteHorrorStories
      @AnthraciteHorrorStories  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey man! Hahaha! I loved you on that clip! That's why I laughed! It was funny because I bet that was just a pothole too. The way they were hyping it, they acted like it was the apocalypse. The other two guys though 😆, man, he said it hasn't rained (poured for like a month), he said nothing happened out of the norm lately (earthquake) and his friend then said nothing happened like this before, but it did right near where they live (the Knox Disaster of 1959). Trust me man, the media is cringe. How the hell did you find this video?!

    Rewatching this. You probably should’ve told that female news reporter that you were part of a large community of people on TH-cam who explore and document abandoned mines around the country. If she had heard that, she might’ve been more receptive to using “King of Coal” in her report.

      @AnthraciteHorrorStories  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The water table is usually pretty stable. Ya, the hydrostatic pressure keeps a lot of the Valley in check vs. subsidence. Check out my full length exploration videos if you're bored.

    Why can't this happen with Centralia mine. The flooding would put it out no?

    • @AnthraciteHorrorStories
      @AnthraciteHorrorStories  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Isn't that high in elevation? Also, I wonder how epic those steam explosions would be lol. It might cause anarchy when that steam tries to escape. The best course there would be to dig out the fire (imo). You could at least get coal too (mine it) while chasing the fire.
