From the time I was a freshman in college, I drove OLD beaters. My college was two hours from where I grew up. I broke down too many times to count, in the dark in a Sunday night with nothing but frozen corn field for miles in sub zero Minnesota winters.
My poor mother would go crazy, my father could have cared less, unless he had to pay. It was a Ford Falcon. Later recalled!
I have been terrified of car troubles ever since. My deepest sympathy. I’m sure you’re fine and you’re together!
I am always so touched by the pure kindness of strangers when you are in a bad pinch. How kind of them 💕
I’m 73 now and never gotten over it, even in a new car.
Awwwww, Lando! Dan loves him so much!!
WOW!!! Who would have thought one problem would reveal another….potentially worse!! Glad to see you got some good folks to help you out!!
Yes. We are so thankful they found the other issue before it became a serious problem. Have a great night.
Glad to see you folks benefitted from the kindness of the people of Sheridan and got back on the road. I just sigh when I hear people complain abut the quality of Jeeps whenever one breaks. The fact is that Jeeps get used harder by more people. They get loaded up and rode hard. Guess what? When you do that a lot things will break. It doesn't matter what make or build - things will break if they are used enough. Stay safe. ~dale ('21 JT).
So true. We definitely use them harder than normal. They’ve stood up to an awful lot.
In a world full of such negativity, isn't it wonderful to find such pleasant people? So glad they got Worsley up and running for you! Last year while traveling the Trans America Trail I had to limp Becky into the town of Gunnison, Colorado. They were so nice to me. They pulled me right in the shop, found the parts I needed, went and got them and had me back on the trail in a few hours. Great video! Happy trails!
So glad everything worked out and it's awesome to see folks helping out. Thanks for showing the not so exciting times as well as the good. That's one of the reasons we love you guys, down to earth and real! Hope you have a
great time at the expo.
Thanks for letting us tag along! ❤
Thank you so much. Yes EXPO was wonderful. Have a great day!
God works in mysterious ways.. If your fuel pump wouldn't have failed you would have never found the broken welds which would have been catastrophic on the trail. Carol, your prayers were answered. Praise God! Safe travels Perry
Yes, that’s how we see the situation. We are very thankful God is watching over us.
Sounds like the fuel pump issue may have been a blessing in disguise. The rear suspension problems they found could have caused serious problems or injuries if it failed in the wrong situation. Glad it all worked out. Keep living life to it's fullest.
Yes, that was definitely a blessing in disguise. Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day.
Hows.having fuel pump problems a blessing in disguise? Takes time and setbacks to your plans, even energy . Unless it somehow brings to you a millionaire who gives you money to repair it.
JEEP - Just Empty Every Pocket! Ugh! We love that you travel in jeeps because we have 2 jeeps too! Every time you hear a tick or a Bing we worry that you'll give up on Jeeps, please don't! Glad to see you made your way, sending prayers of safe travels home. St Christopher is the patron saint of travelers ♥See you next week xo
I second that! We've had a Jeep vehicle since the 60's. All vehicles have their quirky issues including Toyota. The Jeep community is far stretching. One thing that irks me is those broken welds, should be a recall.
Small town America has many wonderful people and the people in Sheridan seem to have taken good care of you. Glad you found the body issue in town instead of out in the boondocks.
Jeep really should sponsor you guys, you show everyone what they can do and where you can go in them (Stellantis: hint, hint).
Safe travels, happy trails and trouble free miles are the wishes I send today.
Small town America. Can't beat it. I broke a tooth near Gillette Wyoming, right up the road from Sheridan. Had the same experience. Friendly KOA and a friendly dentist who got up early to fix me at 7 a.m. next day. Blessings all.
Yes. That has been our experience all throughout rural America. Wonderful people.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, read through several comments and didn't see any. Your fuel pump is electric, it uses fuel in the tank to keep the electric pump cool. Do not let you fuel tank run below a quarter tank unless you have to. I was going threw fuel pumps anout every 3 to 4 years, someone gave me this advise and its been 8 years since my last fuel pump replacement. My truck turned 24 years old in May.
Keep up the great job on the videos, watch you guys every Sunday.
We hate that you had car troubles but maybe The Lord set it up for you to have fuel pump problems so the cracks in the suspension could be made known!
I almost fell out of my chair when you showed those cracks! That would have been a catastrophic failure, especially on some heavy trail deep in the mountains! Thank God it was all repaired so well! Safe travels you guys!
Yes, we see it that way too. Someone was watching over us for sure!
the respect of all the good people. and you both appreciate so much. its awesome. much love happy safe travels.
Great videos, my wife and I camped and did similar type of activities with our kids while they were growing up (not to the far away places like you) but I regret not documenting them like you have done. Great to see families enjoying each others company, love you channel
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Delighted for you getting sorted out with repairs to the truck. I'm new to the channel and enjoying it immensely. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 ☘💚☘💚☘☘☘☘☘
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching in Ireland 🇮🇪 ca
It's 5am on a Monday morning here in New Zealand and I must say it's always a good start to the day watching y'all while having coffee at home.
Arohanui Whanau ❤
I'm thinking you might be Vapor locking pop the fuel cap let it breathe then put the cap back on and see if it does it still somewhere it's locking air in your fuel lines which is making you vapor lock that's my assumption at least
I’m thinking you didn’t watch half of the video that’s my assumption at least
I love your content Sir and Mrs . Sir the Mrs is always enthusiastic and a positive vide. Kindly keep doing what you are doing. The world loves you both and we are you family now and always on this journey. God bless.
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
You guys are living the dream!!!!❤
Glad you guys were able to get everything fixed and to the Expo on time!
So glad you made it safe and sound! Loved to see how cool and calm you were and how smart your decision was to turn back!!! Safe and happy trails!!!
Welcome to Wyoming!! Everyone here is so kind and always wants to help. If you're heading back, stop in Ten Sleep to see us.
I just was near Casper, driving from MN to Idaho 2 weeks ago. Was overheating and got help on a Satudat night from a friendly mechanic that went well out of his way to help us out. Many, many good people out there!
Too funny! You were having difficulty with gas and I found myself praying for you! Really have enjoyed following you guys since I found your channel!
The JLU rear bracket failure is well known in the Ursa Minor group and you are putting a lot more load on them with the XL AND a trailer. We have them welded and gusseted. Everyone with a JL or JLT should be checking these!!
Thanks for the tip. I will look into reinforcing it as well. Have a wonderful day.
Hi, is this a JLU problem? Have never heard about this on JKU's. But I will put the issue on my Checklist for my UrsaMinor JKU. Thanks.
A wicked day for you. The landscape is very beautiful. I used to go to Colorado and Oklahoma a lot.
In the nineties I was on the road professionally to Kiev, Budapest, etc.. In the week over 5000 kilometers, were possible. I drove at that time a Toyota Landcuiser HDJ80, 4.2 liters and 165 hp. Turbo diesel 6 cylinder. So that it could come to no problems, the tank system was rebuilt with additional tank and equalization lines. With 165 liters of diesel and 2 canisters with 20 liters of diesel each, I was able to drive 2000 kilometers in summer, in winter with the other tires, it was about 1500 km. Any other pumping actions, are too dangerous, via an intake pump it must work and not via an intermediate station.
Stay healthy and take care of yourselves. Greetings from Frankfurt.
Peter and Carol, thank you for taking the time to talk to us this past Saturday at Overland Expo Mountain West 2023. It was such a pleasure meeting you in person and chatting about life, family, and your amazing adventures. We're so glad everything worked out and that you made it to Colorado for the event. Praying for safe travels on your journey home. P.S. - looking forward to the future cookbook. John & Barb (and Gizzie).
#overlandexpomountainwest2023 #overlanding #camping
Wyoming people are good people. Glad you made it to Loveland.
Your prayers were answered in so many ways that could have been an off-road disaster. If they hadn't taken the extra time to inspect Worsley over, you wouldn't have been known about the crack. So blessed!! Stay blessed, friends!
Nawwww that’s so sweet of them to fix Worsley thank you guys. Yea you made it and Happy birthday Carol❤you are a beautiful and humble woman my friend. Take care and stay safe, love you from your kiwiNZfamz🇳🇿❤️❤️❤️
So the full pump saved you from a major breakdown. Spirit works to keep you safe. Blessings!
Good to hear there are still some good businesses out there that were able and willing to get you in, and repair your jeep safely.
Thank you for sharing your epic adventures with us! I grew up on the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. So many of the places you go remind me of home! Love the wilderness. Blessings guys!
It looks like they did a good job welding it back together, but like other commenters have mentioned-those rear brackets are known to have integrity issues, especially with all your added weight. There are a number of companies that sell reinforcement brackets. Would definitely be worth investigating and investing in one.
Thanks for the tip, we will definitely look into that and see what we can find. Have a wonderful day.
That field craft first aid setup is a great kit for quick deployment. I took their empty behind the seat kit and built what I think is a pretty comprehensive first response kit, especially for the size. If you guy's would ever like to see what I stocked it with, I'd be more than happy to share. The thing I run into with the pre-built kits is that they tend to opt for very specific components, when there are options where one component can actually serve multiple uses. Knowing this can help keep bulk down and saves a little bit of money too.
I have to say, out of everything that has gone on my Jeep? The fuel pump is not one of them. I should knock on some wood. LOL Glad to see that you were able to get it fixed and you weren't stranded up in the mountains. Stay safe!!!!
every time i watch your vlog iam imagining i been there with guys its breath taking the place , be safe guys
Best way to end the weekend ❤️❤️
HI PETE & CAROL 👋
GOD WORKS IN FUNNY WAYS ! THANK GOD THEY CHECKED THE JEEP 🚙 OUT WHILE WAITING FOR THE FUEL PUMP 🙏
Yes, you’re right about that. God was definitely watching over us. Have a wonderful day.
Great attitude when you had the issue with the Jeep, sometime things happen for a reason and if it was not for the issue with the fuel pump you would not have found out about the spring bucket issue until it was too late. All's well that ends well.
Happy that you were able to get back on the road and that you were able to get a little taste of our beautiful mountains. I hope you get a chance to come back and explore some more.
Peter, you have to love the small-town friendliness and the willingness to help out strangers. We had an issue with the Jeep death wobble four times on our trip. We were able to get a wheel alignment and tire balance the very next morning. We had a safe trip home that very day without any further issues. I would like to give a big shout-out to Fountain Tire in Vanderhoof BC.
WooHoo! Glad you made it. 👏👏
Thanks for sharing. I am happy to see those issues were resolved.
My Chrysler was always acting up so I got an OBD 2 scan tool and a light toolbox and dont leave home with out it. Much cheaper and a huge peace of mind while traveling. Good you got it taken care of.
Might be a good idea to check the other Jeep as well, for the suspension problem and fuel pump as well. Just a thought.
Yes, that’s a good idea. We had the fuel pump fixed in the other Jeep but we will definitely check the shocks struts, etc..
Beautiful scenery 🥰.
Glad you all enjoyed Sheridan, Wyoming. I'm 2hr away in Casper. Welcome anytime. That road out of Big Horn and up the mtn... thats a knarly rough road going up. Safe travels.
Its always interesting how one thing leads to another. That break down has saved you from what could have been an even more serious situation. I live on a boat. I herd there was going to be storm over night decided to just check the drainage channel around my engine before going to bed. And saw Diesel spurting out of a pipe and six inches of diesel flooding the engine.
😊Your both very blessed to have found great help. Stay safe and have fun. As always we enjoyed the video. 🌸
Thank you! 🤗 Yes that was another miracle.
Might want to seriously consider one of the riggs at the expo. Jeeps seem to only have so many relatively trouble free miles.
We’re definitely looking 👀 👍🏻
I 1960 a friend and I planned a road trip from Springfield Illinois to Portland Oregon we took turns driving his 1957 WW and it was a nightmare trip with a lot of car trouble
This was before in Interstate and your video reminded this 82 of man of that trip
Hello dear Ones, tell me something about coincidences again... This afternoon I had to think of a company that I really enjoyed working for over 10 years, during my professional life. The company is called HACH-Company and manufactures analysis devices for water and waste water analysis.
And tonight I watched the last episode of your trip to the Expo. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw where you guys are, in Loveland, Colorado! And do you know where this company, the Hach Company, is headquartered? That's right, in Loveland, Colorado... OMG, what a synchronicity! I visited Loveland and the company in Loveland in 1992 and know the Loveland area quite well. This is almost impossible to explain by coincidence... However, I wish you a lot of fun there, all the best and love on your further journey, many greetings, yours, Wolfgang.
Go back to 1:11 and freeze frame. There is a dragon in the shot. 🐉
I saw that too
Sorry you’re still having problems with your jeep. When you guys were in Sheridan, we were on section 7 of the Wyoming BDR. What an amazing State for overlanding.
Yes Wyoming is amazing. We hope to do the WYBDR soon. 👍🏻
Love happy endings 🙏🏻
Pro as pro gets !
Nice running into yall again!
Both families are awesome...met them both
What great service in Sheridan!
Sorry about your fuel troubles 😮. Into each life, a little rain must fall. I never understood that, I love the rain??😂😂😂
Haha. Truth.
i am glad your jeep fixed already ❤❤❤
If you own a Jeep you need to carry a scanner for ECU to read the error codes immeidatley
Check to see if you have a hole in your Fuel tank. What is happening to your Jeep is not normal. Also look into your Fuel pump. Good Luck to you guys. Love watching your videos! Have fun on your Honey Moon! lol. Robert & Patty from Vacaville, ca
Thank you and yes, we are enjoying our honeymoon. 😀
Enjoyed meeting y’all at expo! Quite the fuel pump story! The Vaughns from South Carolina.
Check the sock on the end of the fuel pump.
You guys handle adversity better than most.
Really nice talking to you the other day at the EXPO!!!! Good luck in the hunt! Enjoy searching for your Kuiu and Mystery Ranch gear!!!
You were such a big help. Again thank you. 😎
I love camping in my old 1967 Westy VW Bus , This reminds me of some of my trips . LOL . In my Bus that sounds like a clogged fuel filter .
Car issues sure effect travel. Looks cozy..
Awesome video as always Epic Family Road Trip. God works in mysterious ways when things look down look to God and he's always watching over you weather you know it or not.
Thank you and yes, that is so true
Have a safe and fun time in the states .
Thank you.
Hi to Abigail and Lifestyle. Good to see your repairs didn't take that long. Could have been terribly expensive.
We’ll say hi for you. ❤️
glad everything work out bon voyage
Thank you.
I’m so afraid of heights, would be no use to you guys. Have a safe, fun times
Another option if you need to rent a spot is hipcamp. I have a spot here in western montana that does pretty well called bitterroot panorama.
Great to meet you guys in Loveland. To bad you didn’t get the chance to do the Wyoming BDR on the way down. Safe Travels!
Machenical fault during traveling is big issue. How ever you made it in time. Wonderful 👍 vlogue ❤ as usual keep going have a wonderful 😊 journey.❤😊
Do you have a video on the kitchen box set up?
Great video..
I'm glad we still have people out helping people .
the jeep- quitting sounds like vapor lock may be
We love the channel 😊
Did I hear Birthday, next week, have a Blessed one Carol 🎉
Thank you 😊
Hello, I'm new to the channel, saw a couple older videos, where are your kids? great content. I live in Greeley Co just 15 miles from Loveland, just missed you guys, happy and safe travels.
You two stay so cool-headed in stressful situations. We tried to get to you in CO but sold out to stay there. Maybe next time!
Next time 👍🏻
Sounds like a clogged fuel filter
Another Awesome video. So it was meant to be ( the fuel pump problem ). If it wasn’t for that who knows when them cracks would of came apart
Yes you are right. It was meant to be. 👍🏻
Fuel vapour lock? I had problems on a Ford Escort and had to re-route the fuel lines before it was cured. No problem around town - big problem on a long run. Away from civilisation solution - gravity feed fuel form a plastic bottle. Solved!! As it happens it's a fuel pump. You guys give the Jeeps a hard time.
I feel for you guys with that Jeep. As they age their reliability isn't what they should be, even when you're keeping up with your maintenance. Get Clay to help you with a Toyota Hybrid offroad product build, and you'll never look back.👍
I’d be very interested to hear more about those hiking poles… Their brand, where they’re made, etc…
Here is a product review Pete junior did about six years ago. Enjoy.
Always enjoy your travels! I have a Jeep Rubicon and slept in it when I am out on a Search…(I am a Search &Rescue Volunteer in Northwest B.C.) love how you have a key release lock in the inside of your tail gate…..is that an add on? As I do not see it on my jeep tailgate. Would love more info. (also the rope pull is awesome!)
Yikes. That’s some major welding. I guess that’s what happens when you run heavy off road. Now I’m going to check my welds where the spring as are. You think that’s from the heavy duty springs? Hopefully you can find a guy to plate the anchor points and reinforce the spring carrier. Good luck.
o and the gas station had a cool full kitchen. not to shabby of a chicken sammy.;)
Check out your fuel pump my husband said the pump. And sincers.happy trail
Sooo epik
You’re fuel tank filter is clogged up halfway put a new filter in
We enjoy your videos and are sorry you are having vehicle trouble, but I noticed you’re having Jimmy Dean Sausage, that is our choice to eatin middle Tennessee
We love it! So delicious 😋
I mentioned to you guys that it is time to let it go and get a reliable vehicle a while back.
With regards to the spring perches is the Jeep over payload?
EFRT - Does it ride smoother with the new welded frame? I bet that frame weld will last you an extremely long time. Looked really solid. :)
Dang!! Glad you guys were able to find the issue so quickly and be back on the road! Question: We also sleep inside our Jeep. Where did you get the pull handle to open the tailgate door from the inside? Or did you make it yourself?
The guys that installed our JXL conversion added the latch pull for us, but here are some forms that show how to do it if you want to do it yourself.
Hope that helps.
