Always nice to watch you Jamie :) my son is 30 now, he was 4.5 years old back then. As a father raising him alone, we would watch you on TVO. Needed all the help i could get and you where a big influence. So much that my son is a Chef in high end restaurant. Thank you :)
Dear Jamie, I watch you for years now ,and I like your simplicity. To make this recipe start with the Garbanzo beans, garlic, Tahini,no yogurt this is the original recipe, and Lemon. Also, use the hand mixer instead of the blender to remove the peels of the beans. Put alot of olive oil and some cumin, and Paprica little sprinkles on top. Then, you will have the authentic dish from a Lebanese follower from U.S. Good Luck Stay safe.
Our greatest chef and cook in the entire world. Your hummus recipes are fab. Love your program and all your books are great too! Greatest food of all time. Thank you for being a down to earth guy, who is blessed with a beautiful and loving family. May God be with you and yours always. Love, love love.
I love this man so much. He makes me feel so comfortable with my mistakes. Love being someone can cook in America because of someone like him. Love this man, seriously.
I literally saw this video today, went to the store and made the Hummus a couple of minutes ago. I love how creamy and decadent my hummus is. Thank Jamie this is a keeper. : )
You study the original recipe then you make your own version Some people never change the way they cook, more than that when they see some one beeing creative, they get mad " No, this is not the right way !", relax people he is just trying to gain the flavor that he likes ! Love your way in cooking ❤ creative, easy and simple
Jamie has children... And is making hummus for the whole family...(omitting garlic) (introducing red chilies) Cooking is all about making the same dish with a twist... Being creative... Everyone plays master chef at home with what ingredients are available... Doing without an essential ingredient... Or adding an unfamiliar one... Love you Jamie...
I never thought of adding yogurt-good way to make it creamy. And you can add so many things to personalize it! Love your videos Jamie! Keep making a healthy world
Don’t know why this came up on my feed or how....but I love watching Jamie create meals! Have been looking for something like this for a few years! Sooo happy!!!
Try adding the following to your chick peas for hummus: a green chilli, cumin, red chilli powder, fresh parsley, lemon juice, 2 garlic cloves, and olive oil. Enjoy.
I smiply adore your recipes and the knowledge you provide through your documentaries. The day you publish a plant-based cook book I'll be first in line!
I love watching you cook Mr. Oliver. You are such a good teacher. You are very informative and cover everything in a short amount of time. Thank you for sharing and coming up with Food Tube.
Jamie Oliver was one of my favorite chefs. Now he's definitely my favorite after making hummus. I love everything he does. This petition is only for the people in the UK, otherwise it would have a lot more signatures
I wish I could sign the petition, but I live in the U.S. And it's only for British people. I wish the U.S. had more caring people like Jamie Oliver to promote cooking at home which is always healthier and cheaper. And it's "always" because at home people choose the quality of the ingredients/ products they cook with whereas in a restaurant the quality of products used is unknown. Great job Mr. Oliver
Need to try out this recipe! When I make hummus I change out the olive oil for sesame oil since I rarely have tahini and so I get the flavor with the oil. Works brilliantly. I just use the chickpeas, sesame oil, lemon or lime, pepper, salt, coriander, a bit of cayenne and that's it. Super easy and delish!
Guys if can't find tahini here's a little trick. Get some sesame seeds and roast them on a hot frying pan. Not too much, if they get dark they taste bitter. Cool them down and throw them into food processor. Make a smooth paste. Guess what you've just made your tahini. Ta-da!
I tried hummus for the first time today and absolutely love the stuff but that flatbread was the best thing to come out of this video as far as I'm concerned, so quick and easy!
Every school should really have a class dedicated to gardening and to learning exactly what food does to your body. We need to teach them healthy habits to fuel their bodies.
Love your work, Jamie!! Have followed you since the early Naked Chef days and love how you are prepared to stand up and be an advocate for health as well. Keep doing what you do 😊👍🏻 Cheers from Oz
I can tell you that whole wars are started over hummus recipes! I have eaten so many varieties in so many countries. There is no „one“ best hummus recipe. I like mine with tahini, garlic, lemon and spices but I have had Persian, African and Asian versions, too. All good. Variety is the spice of life
For those complaining that this isn't authentic hummus, remember Jaimie is a chef. There are PLENTY of people with traditional hummus recipes, one even on Food Tube. Jamie need to create and reinvent and inspire people with his original recipes. Generally I'm a food purist, and don't care for fusion, but I'm always open to try the damn thing first.
My dearest Jimmy I’ll be watching you right from the first time you start your show on TV, then you got married now you have five children I’m still watching you and enjoying your delicious cooking you’re the best always for me love you sweetheart and now I’m using your recipe for cooking the food for my grandchildren❤️🌺❤️💋❤️🌺❤️🌺
I never even knew that hummus could be bought in stores. We always made these on our own and spread it on a plate and decorate it with celantro, spices, olive oil, pickles and tomatoes
A normal humus would use: - chickpeas (if boiling fresh they should be soaked with baking soda) - tahini (Jamie here substituted half with yoghurt, which will totally change the taste and texture) - olive oil - seasoning. Besides salt, here in Israel we'd classically flavour it with a squeeze of lemon juice, pinch of cumin and pressed garlic. (JO didn't mention his seasoning other than cayenne pepper, which is quite unconventional.) Like he said, extra flavours would be added as a serving topping. At home we usually dress our humus plates with olive oil and za'atar (a hyssop-based herb blend). Paprika would also work. If you're adding peppers like he does, the cumin is a must. Good luck Simon!
Making food at home is a great treat to be shared with family and friends forever. this recipe seems to have been a delight, I will write down and do. It is very important to reduce the consumption of sugar, a great idea Jamie, I'll sign your petition and will spread among friends. Our health can always improve through initiatives like this. Congratulations again Jamie expect to see his new book here in Brazil soon!
I just made the hummus and it is so delicious actually it's much better than the one i buy from the supermarket ! Thank you for sharing this great recipe
I absolutely love Jamie Oliver and I adoro his enthusiam and passion for food. As a foreigner I get a high every time he uses the most sexy adjectives to describe food. You are incredibly espetacular Jamie, an inspiration!
Dry quick peas tip: NO SOAKING -> 1 cup peas + 2 cup water -> 20-25 min pressure cooker (medium/low heat) -> taste like Jar quick peas but doesn't hurt wallet + easy to store/handle quantities Thanks for this essential recipe!!
Well I think it's worth it as I do not have a microwave and it replaces it to warm up soups, steaming,... (in minutes). It depends if you're used to bringing water to boil and wait (eg.: potatoes). Sometimes it's tricky to know the times it takes because you can only open it when the pressure is down (i let a time table sheet on-hand in the kitchen). You probably can store the uncooked dried quick peas (and other legumes/pulse crops) for two years in a jar or bag.

Cooking and sharing food togeather to save money is a great tip, did that myself when in college and worked very well for me. Love ur recepies and simplicity. Always looking forward to see more of your videos.
A sugar impact story for you... when I was a child, in fifth and sixth grade, I was a competitive swimmer with the local chapter of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) - we trained at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta California and one of our coaches also coached Olympian swimmer Mark Spitz. I was fast for my age group and our coach moved me up to the older age group. My father was a PhD student in Sociology at UC Santa Barbara and he decided to test my reaction to sugar before a swim meet in Atascadero, which was approximately one hour and fourty-eight minutes north of Goleta by bus. Dad poured a heap of sugar on a boxed cereal for breakfast and insisted I eat the whole thing about an hour before our bus left for Atascadero. I didn't win any of my heats and felt like a slug the whole time. It was the dumbest thing to do to an aspiring athlete.
Pia Jensen wow. well, at least you have a good story out of it. I like Jamie, dyslexic/special needs class in school, and found his niche. A great success, always a jolly positive vibe.Tv land is a horrible landscape to work in, for long periods, very wearing on real people. .He is the only mainstream chef his age who has tried to show people how to eat a lot more healthier than the average diet. I would not add any dairy to hummus. Beetroot makes a nice pink colour. 😘
Made this yummy hummus while watching your instruction, and it's wonderful! I always check your sites first when looking how to make something. You're the best. ;)
I learned making hummus from my israeli friend and she Never put the evo oil during the process, only in the end for garnish together with pinenuts, paprica and parsley. Simply delicious
Looks like quite a lovely twist on a silky Israeli style hummus. Which I adore! Thanks for this and for always teaching good habits and for standing up for the health and welfare of Britain's children. I live in the U.S. and your message reaches and effects us as well! God bless you my friend
I wish the camerman would have shown his hands more than his face while he was making the dough :/ And just more of this hands so I could actually see how to make it! Really love the simplicity of the dish and looks delicious! Thanks! :)
Great stuff as usual from Mr Oliver. I've been making hummus for a long time and he's right about the possible variations - I use garlic and olive oil, sometime skip the tahini etc. Children love it too, my grandchildren love it. It's easy, try it.
Great video Jamie, if you had added the garlic, it would become a traditional Musabaha, which is a must have dish in every home in Damascus on Friday morning
Wow Jamie! You are simply authentic and incredible! Just like our Spanish Karlos Arguiñano in, you are the British version! A great informative and really concerned and commited. I admire you so much. Thanks a lot for sharing. Laura from Spain :-)
Loved your recipe Jamie, nice, easy and yummy and also love what you are doing with the sugar thing. And also want to add, I have seen some of your shows, I can see the passion, the way you interact with food. You really love what you are doing and you can see that on the screen. Very inspiring! Love you and your shows. Thanks :)
If hummus needs garlic or not is like the pack of rice in china, the really important thing in this video is the discussion about sugar and nutrition in general, starts at 12:25
This is by far my families favorite snack. We love it, it freezes great too so I always try to make it in large batches (it will burn out a food processor motor quick though). I use some smoky and grilled hot & sweet peppers in it and LOVE! Also, a GREAT time saver for dishes requiring dry chick peas or beans - the crock pot works wonders! Pour them in and turn it on. We can eat them as a side item all week. Why are these wonderful videos not shared on Google +? All the other Food Tubers videos are.... I always miss Food Tube videos (I'm not good at checking my e-mail I guess).
J.O. looks well rested after his summer holiday and back with another important mission! Good on ya..and I am really excited for the new cookbook, would love a signed copy ;) #SugarPetition
Thank you for all the plant based recipes of late and for setting the dairy off to the side as an option instead of a main ingredient. Your really an inspiration. I saw your interview with Tim Shieff. Much respect to all your thoughtful efforts. Carry on, friend.
I am a RN in USA, and I agree about the sugar problem of today. Good for you that you are trying to improve the situation. Education is the key, but you should be educating the children as well. 👍🏻
I missed the live stream again:( Never seen the those beans in jars , I always cook dry garbanzo beans for my hummus , works really good , Thanks for demo, love the real time videos!
Love your care and motivation Jamie! Barbara O'Neill has amazing health videos and good food advice - many videos on You Tube. Many blessings and continued success to you xx

Jamie is a doer not just a talker. His social awarness is what his greatest gift is other than his talent as a chef.
British food is like Chinese football
Social awareness just makes the 90% none sjw population think you're a tw@t... take prince harry for example..... please.
Hummus is Middle East dish and I am from Middle East & i love how jamie do his recipe , Guys it's food ! You can make your own twist.
Love you Jamie. God Bless you always in all your endeavors. You're a great example of love and togetherness.
I make it with olive oil, a bit of water, cumin, lemon, a bit of garlic and toasted grounded sesame seeds.. and it is delicious!!!!

You don't have to stick with the traditional. You can make a recipe your own. This is his version.
how dare a chef, a career where innovating with food is a focal point, dare innovate with his own recipes
Did he say he was making the traditional recipe?

Doing without an essential ingredient... Or adding an unfamiliar one...
Love you Jamie...
shireen iftikhar thank you! Everyone else is hating
Except he did say oops forgot the garlic. He didn’t mean to omit. Cool thing is he admits it. He isn’t too proud. He’s awesome.

Jamie the world just wouldn't be the same without you. you are amazing :)
Your hummus is divine. Love the idea of folding in whole chickpeas and herbs.
I love this guy. Delicious, practical recipes presented in a simple, entertaining way.
I never even knew that hummus could be bought in stores. We always made these on our own and spread it on a plate and decorate it with celantro, spices, olive oil, pickles and tomatoes
Tasty ! Where do you live ?
Nice one Jamie! greetings from a Paddy, well done and great to hear you talk about the sugar problem and all that goes with it....
Since we’re in lockdown, I’ve decided to have a go at making hummus.
Would’ve been nice to have the ingredients in the description.
A normal humus would use:
- chickpeas (if boiling fresh they should be soaked with baking soda)
- tahini (Jamie here substituted half with yoghurt, which will totally change the taste and texture)
- olive oil
- seasoning.
Besides salt, here in Israel we'd classically flavour it with a squeeze of lemon juice, pinch of cumin and pressed garlic. (JO didn't mention his seasoning other than cayenne pepper, which is quite unconventional.)
Like he said, extra flavours would be added as a serving topping.
You are such an inspiration, both of my sons are great cooks because of you, good luck with all your future projects 😍
Couldn't agree more with Jamie's preference on texture. Super smooth with a few crushed/whole chickpeas is amazing!
This man isa genius. He speaks like a normal person to normal people who cook everyday.
Dry quick peas tip: NO SOAKING -> 1 cup peas + 2 cup water -> 20-25 min pressure cooker (medium/low heat) -> taste like Jar quick peas but doesn't hurt wallet + easy to store/handle quantities
Thanks for this essential recipe!!
You probably can store the uncooked dried quick peas (and other legumes/pulse crops) for two years in a jar or bag.

spreading ghee on the bread is great too. Keeps it soft and adds a nutty flavour that complements with the rest

+rockchicn Thank you for the wholegrain mustard tip.
good tip thanks!
This is what makes Jamie so amazing compared to other chefs. His food is actually making a difference in this world.
loved the red pepper addition. What a great idea. Next lockdown dish on the table . Thank you !!
Am enjoying Jamie’s show. I live in the US and wholeheartedly agree that sugary drinks along with artificial ingredients are killing us.

Love the "hello lovely people" opening, reminds me of Gennaro's videos!

Jamie Mitchel . There are many hummus recipes going around TH-cam just now , you can basically make any type you like …even beetroot. All delicious!
