Lawnboy carburetor types and adjustment.

This video shows three different types of lawnboy (lawn boy) carburetors and how to adjust the speed , and main jet , attitude screw adjustment, also air vane adjustment. Did talk about the older C and D governor system. My advise is if your old C and D model runs good, do not mess around the governor system. It will need a special tool to adjust it. It is very hard to find such tool, almost impossible. So do not touch the the governor connecting rods if it works fine.

oh Come ON! am I the only one to see "PRM" in place of "RPM"?
Thanks for the video. I made my first LawnBoy run today, but didn't have an clue about the carburetor. It only needed the kill switch defeated because of stuck cable. LOVE how it cuts and pulls (and it's 22 years old). Will adjust carburetor next.

Although I didn't see what I was looking for I watched your very clear video. It covered a wide range of lawnboy history as well as excellent concise information on how to make speed adjustments on these and how they vary.
If you should ever do a video on how to do a proper float adjustment I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Yes. Especially the old one without throttle cable. Remove the 2 screws you can take off the whole carb. No governor cable or throttle cables to worry about.

Light weight and simple, I still like to run my 10601 ,simple and very light weight. The 22270 and 22271 have the lawnboy cast into the deck but Very Heavy. !!!!!!!!!!!! To push and turn .lawnboy lost there soul since TORO..take over.

I have one with the jet adjuster on top. You didn’t say how much to turn out the jet screw. I’ll never get that 15 minutes back.

best 'repair' for the late model DuraForce plastic carb is to insure main jet is clear and that the pilot jet on the side is clean. some folks think pilot jet is adjustable...it is NOT. change the needle valve...these carbs will leak into cyl if you don't. some folks will make the pilot jet metering orifice a tad bigger with a #78 drill if the engine surges because age. fyi,s/b's are cheap now at least til Toro runs out of the 2004 stock.

The pilot jet IS adjustable!! It is located under a sticker that can be removed. Try it before you make other changes.

i have the lawnboy 10601 with the round adjuster wheel
also have the 22270 and 22271 with honda gsv160 and gcv190 engine
the honda run alot cleaner less smoke !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is why the government banned 2 cycle lawnmowers. Beside the more pollutions, 2 cycle engine has a lots advantages over the 4 cycle engine-- light weight, more power, less parts, can run in steep hill without lubrication problems since the gas-oil mix.

I have a lawnboy model 10604 and it starts and runs for about 30 seconds and cuts off, i dont see any idle adjustment screws

I have the same thing - I just tweaked the altitude adjustment that he showed in the middle of the video and it helped a lot.

I do not know anything about 10604, since it has the newer 4 stroke engine. It seems the engine burns off the gas in 30 seconds then die. Most likely you need to clean the carburetor if the carburetor is not adjustable .
