I did an extended test drive of this car and was really suprised how great it drove, coming from a BMW 340i. Power is great. It's not a Lambo but the HP does well and the car feels that it has a lot more HP than it does. Love KB's reviews all the time but disagree a lot on this one. Best SUV in the segment, IMO
I got my CX-5 GT on June 12, and I love it! My only disappointment is that for a 4-cylinder vehicle with 187HP, the mileage does not live up to Mazda's advertised numbers, particularly in the city, as I struggle to get 19-20 mpg. I haven't taken a long highway trip yet, so I cannot comment on highway mileage. Other than that, it is a great car! Stylish (my friends love it), quiet, feels upscale, great handling and driving dynamics, lots of technology and a great Bose audio system! What more can a girl ask for??? :-)
of course it includes highway miles. here in NYC we get on the highway as often as possible. Lets say 40% highway, considering we're mostly stuck in traffic.
Update after owning car after 5 months: still love it, but I have noticed an increase in wind noise when using the car in the highway. Still happy with my lease, just wish I had chosen the touring model with white leather and all tech stuff.
I have two cx5's and I love them. They drive nice, they are fuel efficient, and they look nice. Yes, I would like a little more lumbar support. Add memory foam on lumbar section and it will be a winner.
Love how you filmed this at the Laguna Niguel lake, Moulton, Avery, Niguel, Crown Valley, etc. All around my backyard. It made watching the already good review that much more entertaining.
We just purchased a 2020 Mazda Cx 5, so far I'm very happy with it. I miss my Lexus but it was time for a SUV and I don't regret it. I do miss my speed of the Lexus but I love the roomy interior and gas mileage
Chris TheCarGuy King I see a lot of them on the road already maybe because I like to own one in future. I love the design on this car but I will Test drive that car, when it comes to good looks I give it Mazda CX 5 this car beautiful I hope you agree with me.
Just dont understand what people are complaining about the power, IMO plenty of power and torque, more importantly it comes about in a lovely linear fashion. Very fun CUV to drive. For the information, I own a stage 2 GTI and THIS is the one I prefer to drive!
"And the blatantly unrefined RAV-4" Lol that's perfect. Toyota is trailing a bit behind with many cars, such as the Corolla, Camry, and a couple others. Even my car as well. I hate how they deliberately did not put push button start, or keyless entry in there on a 25k car, when even the Mustang offers it as standard. And I've also got the RC knobs for climate control. But of course, I didn't buy the car for its features.
Don't worry. Toyota got their act together with the 2018 Camry. Looking at the specs, and reading the reviews I can honestly say the new Camry is best in class.
It's because the RAV4 (nor the Corolla) is not offered with leather upholstery. The best you can do is vinyl. On top of that, most trims of Lexus have vinyl. At least the 86 is offered in leather.
cadsux I don't know about Toyota, but most Lexus vehicles will have real leather. I heard Nuluxe was the best in the business, interms of imitation leather.
The CX-5 is definitely a great CUV alternative for people like me who want something a little bit different than the compact CUV stalwarts: the CR-V and the RAV4.
such a beautiful vehicle mazda has made, but still need some improvements in order to complete with others. for me the crv is the best overall car in the segment. reliable, good looking, spacious and practical cabin, decently powerful, good fuel economy, and well equipped.
I just rented a 2017 Nissan Rouge having less than 12k miles, the rattles and ridiculous mpg in this car made me ponder why would someone purchase it! I'm in the market for a new car and this red gem is on the list, great review!
I watched many reviews on this car and there is one thing everyone is saying...that it's under powered or that it should get a turbo charged engine...but the truth is I think this car is just fine exactly how it is for starters how many crossovers have a proper 6 speed automatic not many that I can think off...the rogue which is a class above has nearly the same amount of HP from its engine which is paired with that horrible CVT transmission and yet it sells like hot cake and people don't complain about it's horrid engine and heavy frame...so I think Mazda nailed it for a day to day drive it's perfect...plus it handles well which I can't say that many cross overs could
HI, I have a question: I own a Mazda3 here in Colombia where services are recommended to be done every 5000 kilometers (3106 miles) which I think is waay too often! I want to know the maintainance in the United States. I found out in Canada is every 8000 mi which is12874 kilometers and when I made the conversion I was shocked, but I also noticed that the said maintainance is made to canadian driving conditions which made me wonder that chek ups in Colombia are more often because of the poor quality of our streets... Anyway too much info for such a little info tip I wanna know. And yes im typing this in all KBB Mazda reviews :)
Unless you have a boring life you won't find this fun to drive. I drive a ram 2500 PW and my wife drives a Nissan Armada platinum. So yes, coming from those tanks to driving this little go kart was friggen fun today at the test drive and I'm buying one!
kapsgunner83 Ah. Thanks for the heads up. That's not really that bad of a price increase as it will significantly increase both Torque and MPGs. Maybe even a little towing capacity.
I'm sitting at Mazda now getting service on my 17 6 and I made sure to play this video out loud. In hopes that they would hear it and put a v6 or turbo in their cars lol. (besides the cx-9.)
Hey guys, I will be getting a new car soon, I've been think about getting this car for a long time because it is simply amazing. What i mostly like about it is the luxury it has inside. Now this weekend I had to rent a car to drive from miami to naples, and I ended up renting a nissan altima 2017. It was a very smooth drive, and it made me doubt the mazda. My question is: is the mazda cx5 a smooth car to drive? do you hear and feel the road constantly? I want to test drive it, but my fear is that the seller will push me to buy the same day, and I sell out easy under pressure! thanks!
I have to ask, is Canada the only place to get unlimited milage warranty? I have a 2016 cx5 for the wife and we commute 50,000km+ a year so warranty is a must for us. I am looking to upgrade my 2012 mazda3 to a 3 hatch or new cx5 (wife wants me to get cx5, I want a 3). Both come with unlimited milage 5 year power train warranty here. I love my mazda3 and my cx5 and honestly both have given me minimal issues (cx5 had a axle seal squeak and my mazda3 had the ac compressor chirp) I have the warranty but I don't think I will have to use it. I was looking at Honda and Toyota but their warranties are laughable (milage is too low) and I know Mitsubishi does 7 years 200,000km here but for me that's 3.5 years of warranty
The Boston Bond thanks I leased one a couple months ago and I was surprised with overall comfort in driving and quietness. They really did a good job. My last car was a 2009 Toyota and it was the complete opposite, so I thought all japonese cars were like this. Oh I was so wrong!
do your homework, all these companies make fast SUVs that can compete with the fastest sedans AUDI BMW BENZ RANGE ROVER SVR SRT GRAND CHEROKEE TRAILBLAZER SS (now) DURANGO SRT
2:20 oh shit I know where that is! This is near by my house, off the i-5 Avery exit. And you see him coming back up the same hill at 2:45. And driving around various back roads off Alicia and Moulton.
As a car enthusiast I will always opt for the CX-5 over the CR-V or RAV4, but the Honda comes so well optioned and with significantly more interior space that it might be enough to draw me away from the sportster in the segment. Check out my thoughts on The CR-V th-cam.com/video/bw6UXLTrrdE/w-d-xo.html
Liquidgenerationice According to my local dealer, it's about safety if you roll it. My sister in law has the Rouge with panoramic sun roof and it's always closed and shade is down. My cx5 we keep the shade closed on the sun roof too. Only time the sun roof really gets used is when I drive solo. Wife doesn't like it messing her hair and kids don't line the sun (toddler) so it's easier to keep it closed. I love it but... yeah.
Can anyone who owns this tell me if the road noise is loud? I currently have a 2012 Mazda 3 and the road noise is so damn loud when I'm on the highway. I have to jack up the volume so much to hear over the road sounds.
Okay - those Canada geese at the end stole the show for me!!! Loved how they honked at you!!! Btw, I don't think the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV 4, or Nissan Rogue have ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, or 360 camera systems either. And none of those offers rear heated seats, but the CX-5 does.

Kudos to Mazda designers , it is a gorgeous car that looks and feels way above its price, i own a 2015 CX5 and i still find it awesome after 3 years .
I love where Mazda is going
93AuroraV25 Agreed! Stylish, comfortable, spacious and overall awesome.
I got my CX-5 GT on June 12, and I love it! Dancer810 what city do you live in? My friend drives like Grandma and average is 22 miles per gallon on his 2017 Honda CRV
@@lionintu
No doubt his average of 22 mpg includes some highway mileage.
of course it includes highway miles. here in NYC we get on the highway as often as possible. Lets say 40% highway, considering we're mostly stuck in traffic.
Easily the best looking car in its class!
No doubt. I wonder why it isn't selling that well. Is it because of the low power?
Obi Ezeilo I wonder too, I guess Mazda just isn’t popular enough in the US still
@@ObiEzeilo not as popular
Obi Ezeilo Marketing strategy?

I have never clicked a video this fast. Thank you, KBB!
Unwanted touching. These guys always have me smiling .Best way to do a car review.
Lmao, the way you touched that guy in the beginning. I love the design of the car btw.
Shellyman Vol.2 these guys, cracking up three seconds into the video
Shellyman Vol.2 did you notice he started chasing the guy he touched when the camera started to pan out lol
Update after owning car after 5 months: still love it, but I have noticed an increase in wind noise when using the car in the highway.

This is crazy
Love how you filmed this at the Laguna Niguel lake, Moulton, Avery, Niguel, Crown Valley, etc. All around my backyard. It made watching the already good review that much more entertaining.
Zach, you are a legend! You're becoming my favourite car reviewer
cant wait for you guys to review the CX5 Diesel. I pray the torque makes it fun to drive
We just purchased a 2020 Mazda Cx 5, so far I'm very happy with it. I miss my Lexus but it was time for a SUV and I don't regret it. I do miss my speed of the Lexus but I love the roomy interior and gas mileage
Nice new Mazda. Should start seeing a lot of these on the road.
Chris TheCarGuy King I see a lot of them on the road already maybe because I like to own one in future. I love the design on this car but I will Test drive that car, when it comes to good looks I give it Mazda CX 5 this car beautiful I hope you agree with me.

You can't get the 86 in leather. It literally just comes one way. You can't even get push button start, which is more important in my book.
cadsux I don't know about Toyota, but most Lexus vehicles will have real leather. I heard Nuluxe was the best in the business, interms of imitation leather.
Sorry, my mistake. The Subaru BRZ Limited had leather. Push button start is cool but it is expensive to replace.
this color is SO beautiful in person.
Great looking, needs 50 more hp.
Needs the 2.5T.
The 2.5T is actually coming to the CX5 soon... Was revealed in a leaked Mazda internal document
The CX-5 is definitely a great CUV alternative for people like me who want something a little bit different than the compact CUV stalwarts: the CR-V and the RAV4.
such a beautiful vehicle mazda has made, but still need some improvements in order to complete with others.

This is much better looking than its rival CUVs like the Honda CR-V. Plus it's great to know that it has a 6 speed auto transmission instead of a CVT.
The guys running after the intro was super funny!
lmfao!!!! i love the whole creeping/ kidnaping side joke. you guys are the best!!!
There's a reason why this is the most popular SUV in Australia. The Kodo Design language is really hammering the competition!
1:02 what lumbar support are you using ?
@4:51 A car reviewer actually correctly says "head-up display". Bravo, sir. Bravo. :)
Such a great video and love the intro haha
i gotta say you guys have the best production, cam work of car reviews. Keep up the gw
Straight up, i like these guys
I just rented a 2017 Nissan Rouge having less than 12k miles, the rattles and ridiculous mpg in this car made me ponder why would someone purchase it! I'm in the market for a new car and this red gem is on the list, great review!

Really like these shots of the all new Mazda CX-5. Man, this car is the shittt!!
I like how Mazda includes a HUD in their upper trims but you can't find it in many other cars
I watched many reviews on this car and there is one thing everyone is saying...that it's under powered or that it should get a turbo charged engine...but the truth is I think this car is just fine exactly how it is for starters how many crossovers have a proper 6 speed automatic not many that I can think off...the rogue which is a class above has nearly the same amount of HP from its engine which is paired with that horrible CVT transmission and yet it sells like hot cake and people don't complain about it's horrid engine and heavy frame...so I think Mazda nailed it for a day to day drive it's perfect...plus it handles well which I can't say that many cross overs could
100% agree with you man! Good looks!
The Rogue isn't a class above. It's in the same segment.
CX-5 LOOKS WAY BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION

If you had to choose between Espace Initiale Paris and Mazda CX-5 top trim AWD AT 175 diesel, which car would you pick?
Espace

very entertaining and informative video with short duration
Glad you enjoyed it!
what would you buy rather?cx5,crv or rav4?
Any word on when the diesel version will be available this summer?
Diego Montoya sometime September. there is a thought on Mazda forums it will command a 2800 us$ premium over gas.
kapsgunner83 Ah. Thanks for the heads up. That's not really that bad of a price increase as it will significantly increase both Torque and MPGs. Maybe even a little towing capacity.
mutt Mitchell Towing capacity for EU and Australia is 4400 lbs. But US numbers will be lower. Probably twice of the weak CR-V
how is the ride on pumpy roads?
What's the song playing in the end ? (from 5:36 )
I love that you guys drive around south Orange County.
I'm sitting at Mazda now getting service on my 17 6 and I made sure to play this video out loud. In hopes that they would hear it and put a v6 or turbo in their cars lol. (besides the cx-9.)
Woaaah! So nice. But yesterday pergi showroom Kia Sorento. Superb! Design sangat cantik.
kelley blue book has waaay too much fun making these videos lol
Is that a bad thing? 😁
The white seats look great for the first couple weeks but they turn dark real fast.
One odd question, but is only the Driver window automatic? If so, that's a pretty big oversight imo
Yes. Only the driver's window switch is fully automatic.
Kelley Blue Book - wow, y'all are quick... thanks! Wonderful review
......Child safety.
When will all cars come with pano?
what was that all about? (the soft touching) ?????

is it fuel efficient?
Looks good
Actually a decent vehicle. Would consider one if I needed a small SUV
You crack me up! Love watching!
I just rented one…I can’t wait🙂
Hilarious start to the video.... funny, creepy!!!
All Mazda seats need extra lumbar - bring your own lumbar support is a must for good back health. Subies are the same way.
Are you gonna review the Eclipse cross when it comes out?
GiovanniRomano yup Jaja, and since merging with Nissan they are getting better
Wish we could have gotten some safety numbers or specifications. Other than that, great info and video. Mazda is zoom zooming on up!
Can somebody tell me if this car is quiet when driving? do you constantly hear the road or the wind outside?
John Arz watch the review again he said that its pretty quite
Ali Alrishawi I was hoping for an owners comment, I know he mentioned for 2 seconds about quietness. Anyways thanks.
John Arz its pretty quiet
It's actually very very quiet. They did an awesome job with the reinforced glass and acoustic glass on the front seat windowss
The Boston Bond thanks I leased one a couple months ago and I was surprised with overall comfort in driving and quietness. They really did a good job. My last car was a 2009 Toyota and it was the complete opposite, so I thought all japonese cars were like this. Oh I was so wrong!
still got that push forward to downshift and back to upshift garbage. Will definitely be going with the manual.
I love my 2015 CX 5!! ANNNNND... its faster than the CRV, RAV4, TIGUAN TSi, MITSU OUTBACK SPORT and ROGUE(raced 1 the other week).

this music is straight out of Tron. Love it
But moonroof is an option for CX-5... I'm confused.

there is maniac between the trees at 5:22
I don’t like the Square panel that sticks up all the time why dosent it go down ???
The base model will be great for most people.
Are you guys reviewing the new Audi Q5?
Haha that guy sitting was like "my personal space?!"
Awesome video sir
Thank you, Richard!
As a car enthusiast I will always opt for the CX-5 over the CR-V or RAV4, but the Honda comes so well optioned and with significantly more interior space that it might be enough to draw me away from the sportster in the segment. Check out my thoughts on The CR-V

These guys are great.
why no panoramic sun roof??

Looks like you make this video after the PANDEMIC
😱😱😱🤪
PERFECT.
I like how you wiped your hand on that guys face lmfao lol at the start of the video ;)
Can anyone who owns this tell me if the road noise is loud? I currently have a 2012 Mazda 3 and the road noise is so damn loud when I'm on the highway. I have to jack up the volume so much to hear over the road sounds.
Road noise isn't bad at all. It was one of the quietest competitors in our compact SUVs comparison. Video coming soon.
non led turn signals in 2017 why
I was going to get a mazda3 hatch but since the new cx-5 is out I'll spring for it. The extra space will come in handy one day
in the first moment that started, the dude sitting down was like "wtf, did that dude just rub me"? 😂😂
I thought the seats have 2 way lumbar adjustment
Why were two guys running in the background at the beginning 😂😂😂
Emmanuel Arthur i thought i was the only one omg 😂😂.
Zach was perving on him LMAO
Can anyone guess what Character >>> "Zach"
Okay - those Canada geese at the end stole the show for me!!! Loved how they honked at you!!! Btw, I don't think the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV 4, or Nissan Rogue have ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, or 360 camera systems either. And none of those offers rear heated seats, but the CX-5 does.
They all have the 360 camera I'm pretty sure
I'm pretty sure they all do not.
Ive never used my sunroof on my car in S California cuz the heat. Therefore panoramic sunroof no need!
Also has a nice design from the bland rivals
I hit the like just because of the intro lol
they scratch if you look at them the wrong way xD
Stop Bullying the Brit! We need his awesome Camera Skills (choke, cough, fart)
