Glad to see a video of someone other than Shane, Efren, or Orcollo, guys like Dick Lane also played on the Pro Billiard Tour, wasn't just Sigel, Earl, Hall, Archer, Varner etc, like to see some Leonardo Andam, Luat, Luis Roberts, McReady, back when pool was pool, no arguing over the rack, no crying, just pool
I attended this tournament at Roseland, I played there often as a musician with many bands. The ballroom was a great venue with the stadium seating. The return of Sigel was less than inspiring, he behaved like a jerk most of the time if you've seen the match against John Schmidt. Efren ran 140 twice, got beat to the shot by Souquet in the semi's and Ralf just shut him down. I ran into Nick Varner and he told me Ralf just played perfect pool that week, calm, great speed and patterns. Mizerak was in his final days and looked terrible, such a shame. On Dick Lane, Dick had nerve damage that caused his arm to waver, he found a way to make it work and was just great at this tournament.
I can't tell you how many hrs. I watched Dick shoot pool at Clicks on Abrams Road in Dallas back in the 80's. He used to regularly play a guy named Dusty 150 no count straight pool, which meant Dick had to make 150 balls in a row without missing a single one in order for those 150 to count towards his score, watched him run 10+ racks many many times, also saw him shoot 140 in a row and then miss the next ball and have to start all the way over back at zero to get his 150 again and more times than not he would win this matchup with Dusty!
Thank you Accu-Stats for uploading these matches on YT. Is there any way you could also upload the Mike Sigel vs Efren Reyes match for this same tournament? I saw the "Thank you, Mr. Reyes" interview at the end by Billy and he said that it was such a great match.
Dick started and owned Clicks Billiards. I heard recently he sold his stake or whatever ownership he had. I noticed that Dick still shook really bad with his right hand.
Always heard good things about Dick Lane but this is my first chance to see him. Thank you!
