Got this case! Fits perfectly on my AE2. But I have an off topic question here, can you detach the mic on the AE2W and test it on the AE2, I strongly believe it will work.
I have both headphones and I can test it out but I would have to say that it will work. The only difference really is the BT adapter instead of cable and the BT adapter dimly just plugs and unplugs just like the cable. Bose of course want people to buy new headphones though. Which is why the adapter is not sold as an accessory.

Bose make very good quality not junk.
