The subtitle was wrong, he said 17 minutes. He meant that he was only 25 yrs old the next year.

They should try the hour record with one of the old school bikes just to see what time they can get.
Make it fair. 100% identical bike, period. And ONLY after a full racing season with no more than four days of practice on an outdoor track.
I thought that was a lot of fun. I think its great that the modern riders have much respect for the legends from the past. It is because of guys like Eddy Merckx that the sport is so international and the season is so long today.

I always have the memory of Froome obviously waiting for Wiggins on the top of that climb. . .
I always have a memory of Bradley stood on the podium on the champs elysees wearing yellow. It’s a race of of 21 stages.

Wiggins says that only Merckx and him won Dauphiné Liberé and Tour de France on the same year. He forgets Indurain won both races in 1995.
Indurain won five tour of France but didn't ride much else or win much else .
Indurain was a fine rider to win 5 tours is great, but Eddy is a class above the others and so modest as well. The Cannibal,The Best. 🇧🇪🇨🇵

He does not, Wiggins is honestly admiring Merckx and proud he could match at least a few of Merckx's feats. If you were to ask him who is the GOAT he would respond Merckx without hesitation.

Bitter wiggins about Froome still!!Froome worked his balls off for him and helped him win the tour. Wiggins is the first Brit to win it and will be remembered more for being the first than Froome’s multiple wins. What did wiggins expect Froome to stay as a domestic wasting his talent and ambition so that Wiggins could win it a few more times.

With respect, although Eddy Merckx will always be the icon because of his number of victories. The sport, like all sports, is totally different now. It is just nonsense to compare him with todays champions. All he did was beat those of his day.

@@geraldleuven169 The Tour de France ( and probably the giro) is about 1000km shorter now than in Eddys era, and people say the speeds are higher now ......no wonder !! the pros are softies these days .
