Ok. I fell out of my chair at around 6:20. Thank you, and Love joey. His enthusiasm and practicality towards DIY'ing fish keeping is why I'm getting into it more. I now see practicality in it and affordability as this hoby gets super expensive buying all these name brand products.
Another of your great ones. You are explaining it very well compared to some others I've watched. (No, I don't play favorites. I just do a lot of research before getting into anything I haven't done in a long while.)
You probably don't remember me but I asked you for a budget light for my tank awhile back. Anyway got my hands on a fluval 3.0 for 80 bucks! Now I'm here haha your vkds are great bro keep it up
Wow another super informative, fun and detailed video. You sir are quickly becoming one of my favorite producers! You convey detailed information in a way that is easy to understand and do a good job keeping it fun without getting too gimmicky. Thanks for the vids!
I think you really have it spot on. It's well produced and I like some of the cool editing you cutting to different shots / angles. Some other folks that do the "sciency" videos go a little too far trying to make it seem light or use dumbed down diagrams or animations that don't make as much sense. I feel like your style is like the science prof that can break down complex info in to a way you can understand and not put you to sleep as opposed to trying to teach first graders with pictures. You break it down in a way similar to Zenzo at Tazawa tanks. I do really like the topics that you cover though and appreciate the "science". You also do a good job of pointing out what is actual science versus "hobby" science and make it clear for both how applicable it may be to the individual. Thanks again!
Excellent! Thanks for the feedback. It helps. Yeh, I wanna try and keep it in the middle basically. Though this lighting series, the hardest part was to try and get it to that level. It's a bit technical. Drove me nuts.

Pliz do reply if u saw this comments....For 1ft to 2ft tank how many blue Red Green yellow n white should I used n how much the kelivin should be.if u don't mind can u make DIY of planted aquarium light.BDW Your video is superb Everytime😁.Love From Vizag India.
It will be too much blue for the plants and species in the tank and it won't be healthy for them either. Algae(a plant) utilizes a higher percentage of blue lighting compared to other plants. So the risk of an algae farm starting, will go up
I'd sell it. You won't get enough of the red and yellow spectrum for fresh water plants on that light . I assume it's atunic blue? or is it the 10k White? I'd have to look at the specs but it still might not be enough for fresh water plants.
Oh. I am getting ready to pull the buy for the Kessil 360x sun because i cant find anything else for a 26Dx36Wx15D. Wanna use a plenum slow moving air to move the water up in the column and a sump below with a reactor to catch and turn over water volume. . Kitty litter/Iron supl./Organic Choice with a Cap or a double cap big then smaller sand. Any concerns? Could i carpet with MC or S. Repins. I dont want a s load of algae but i know i will unless i pack it. Thank You and i hope you are having a good summer.
No concerns, because you can adjust the intensity of the Kessil 360x sun, you should be just fine. You just have to make sure that light covers the tank or at least where the plants will be. Just rememnber, a spot light configuiration light differrent than a strip light config.
So red, blue, green is great for plants and white light has been reported to increase algae growth. This is key in trying to dial in the Fluval LED lights. I decreased the white spectrum and maxed out the red/blue (it doesn't have a green setting). Then decreased the time the lights are at full blast to about 7hrs. Since I'm dealing with a brown algea issue I will see if this works out.
Hello, I am currently using the ONF Flatone LED. The settings on this unit allow a percentage of blue to white, and the power rating. Are you familiar with this unit, and if not, is anyone else? I have been running at 15-25 blue at 80%. The blue makes red plants pop, and more white makes greens pop. I'm curious as to which spectrum would be best suited to the plants. Visually, I like both and have settled in between. I have not been able to attain a spectrum breakdown of the white leds. Great channel btw.
Hey can i use only blue light? I have rgb strip with many colors. I have white with a little tone of blue, nearly unoticable. And also have full blue color. Or maybe purple? Pls help i have only anubia and java fern
I am thinking of buying a 6.5k 30watt LED flood lights and adding a adapter to it and hanging it over aquarium. Would that work!? Tank is 2*2*1.⁵ cube. For carpet plants.
okay, i have a client that is really frustrated with the period of time where the tank light is off during the day. do you think it would cause any sort of severe algae problem if I for example turned off the main big led white light and left a very dim blue or red or green or purple light. and if this will not cause a huge spike in algae which color light would you recommend maybe yellow? I'm trying to find a solution that will keep her happy but will not completely destroy her planted tank.
Yo!! I know you’re busy but Im hoping for a reply.. Do you have any experience with horticulture/hydroponics lights? Like LED grow lights for crops? What are your views on those for aquariums? Specifically a 86w FEIT electronic LED horticulture light. Got it from home depot for like $135. My plants seem to be growing like crazy. But algea seems like its coming back as fast as i can clean it
Yeh but you have to be careful how powerful they are (algae problems) AND the color might be either too warm or just red so it's up to you on if it's worth it.
The Water Box yeah im getting algea.. i raised the light up about 9/10” abovr the water. Imalso inject co2 and feed with nilocg thrive. Will the algea stop coming once a balance is established maybe? Thanks for the reply yo!!
Its a 37 gallon tall. Its 24” tall i think. Plus i have the light off the surface a bit . So total about 30” from substrate. Too powerful? Shit yo thats not good. I sold my 2 aquasky 30” and got this one. Can you tell me what par 100 umol/s means?
I have WRGB lighting for my planted aquarium. Can you suggest the light proportion of these colours. Like, 100% is the top of settings. What settings should I have for these colours to help my plants grow better, specially red plants
Have a planted shrimp tank. And the shrimps seem to be hiding when the light is on. I can change it from a bluish tint to a yellow tint. What would you suggest. Thanks in advance man 🍺

I’ve been watching a few of your videos every night. The light lessons are harder to understand on the lighted tanks. I want to set up some Purple, Red, and Green Plants. The only Blue Plant I found is the Eichhornia Azurea, But everyone that has one only grows it Green. What are they missing? I’m considering a Reef Tank Lighting system, because it seems more Full Spectrum than the Freshwater Lights. The new Fluval 3.0 seems less lights than the old 2.0 You figure?
Some plants can only grow a certain color outside of water than inside. So no matter what you do, you can't change that. 2.0 vs 3.0 are mainly the same just some minor differences in features. No, reef lightning doesn't nessecary mean better spectral range for plants. Depends on the brand.

Not quite right, recent studies have shown that plants ultraviolet as well as infra red need or process, even green what was always dismissed as "unnecessary" is needed. Many modern LED'2 illuminators have already built special chips that reflect these spectra. I'm sorry for the bad english

That's beyond my capabilities right now. I have no knowledge of constructing aquarium lights.
I recently bought a fluval marine 3.0 from a used section not knowing it was a marine version...will this light work on a freshwater planted aquarium?

Hello I'm just trying to grow algae in my freshwater aquarium ... Does any type of light will help me grow green algae?
Pretty much.
This was great info, thank you!

Hi, don't know if this was asked before. But would putting a blue filter, or using a blue light actually put out more of the blue spectrum?
No, you can't just put a "filter" to change the spectrum. It doesn't work that way.
I am thinking of buying a 6.5k 30watt LED flood lights and adding a adapter to it and hanging it over aquarium. Would that work!? Tank is 2*2*1.⁵ cube. For carpet plants.
I don't know. Since I'm not there to measure the lighting I can't tell you.

You should be fine. You can also go lower the intensity of the light and have it on longer. That works too.
