I love the technique and the finished paintjob is amazing! What I dont like is the shade of blue for Ultramarines. In my mind the are just of a darker, less greenish blue. But this is rather subjective, I guess. The finished Marine looks awesome, though :D
Could’ve said it’s a successor chapter. That’s a completely different shade compared to the canon Ultramarine color. No one would ever consider that color associated with Ultramarines.
I could spend all day and it wouldn't be anywhere near as good as that! Can't wait for Christmas day when I get to use my new Squidmar paints and wet pallette!
Squidly man, thanks for spreading the word on cheap airbrushes, theyre fine. There are compact compressors that still connect with a hose too, works fantastic.
Amazing techniques and amazing results but i think only the most incredibly talanted painters could pull it off in that time frame. I think advertising 30 minutes instead of 10 would be more realistic
i know this is very much a long shot any chance at a painting video with your colours for the new lotr box set i have all your paints but not sure how to go about it :D
Would have been nice to share an actual speedpaint head. I’ve found doing something like bugmans glow all over, then a Zenethal with something like Kislev flesh. Shade with reikland flesh shade can give really nice natural results in about 30 seconds of work. May be helpful to someone. (Using shades through an airbrush is also amazing for making nice skin effects carroburg crimson is my fave) Videos like this can bum out newer painters because they wonder why they can’t get this result in 10 minutes, it’s admittedly obviously not a very long paint job but I wish creators would be a bit more transparent and realistic and just show what they actually do in 10 minutes rather than here’s a 10 minute paint job with extra steps I did to show what you can add so it’s actually not a 10 minute paint job.

@@cyrillyarovoy4230 Its the brand Vallejo, the way they treat workers in terms of their personal safety is appalling. They are currently on strike, demanding better safety conditions.
the face, the red helmet, the base .. I guess these just magically paint and finish themselves lol! with this technique, we can all do 10-minute marines! kekw
Hey I have a quick idea. It would be awesome for me, as a beginner painter, if you could sometimes show what errors you did, and what you don't like and how to repair such mistakes. Because sometimes, I guess even you, do some paint stroke on nearby elements. And when I do it, even when I know the paint I still see this error. Also other mistakes happen too xD. So if you could sometime show some of your errors and your ways to repair them I would greatly appreciate it
The biggest one I can suggest is to always have another clean brush & clean water nearby. If you notice any paint 'spilling' onto other areas, get the extra brush with a ~little~ bit more water than you normally would, and use it to wipe away the spot. Doesn't always get the spot completely, but it'll usually get enough of it to make it less obvious
I haven't seen the video where they mention that, but I can also say it has never happened in my experience and I've been using metallic paints on my palette since I started. If you have flakes getting into your other paint it's probably bc the paints themselves are mixing. Having different water cups for metallic/regular paints is very important, however. And I usually give my brushes a quick rinse in the sink after using metallics
This doesn’t take 5-10 minutes, you have an 8 min video, but a lot of the steps in the guide is 2 brushstrokes and skip to now every joint is painted black, do one shouldtrim skip to both are done and all the other metal details on the model is done with 2 brushstrokes, highlight a shoulder and the chest and now every part has micro scratches. I’m not saying you couldn’t do it, but the model in the video took more than 10 minutes to paint from black primer to finished result, even if you cut out all the prep time. How about you release an unedited video of how you paint a model like this in less than 10 min, just get Lucas to film you doing it and I will eat my words. Edit: You claim to be able to do these in about 5 minutes if they are assembly line, how about you do a video where you paint 12 marines that looks like this in 1 hour, should be a quick video idea.
@@squidlybits1985I just went back and looked at the first 24 hour Challenge that I could find, Emil paints the first 10 elves in 7 hours and 30 minutes, and Lucas did his first 5 Terminators in around 17 hours. Can you point me to an example where what you said is true?

Yep, bs is bs. And besides, even it an army of them did only work out to 10 mins each, who would want their ultramarines to look like that? The colour is awful.

But what about the face and the helmet, they belong to the mini, not within that 10 minutes i guess, take another 20min. But the drybrush steps is very convincing
not in this video, not so much, at least, I see that, especially for metallic, you paint the highlights like: "yes," "no," "yes again," and "no again," but I'm missing the ratio behind it. I've seen it, especially on metal and weapons, even if those aren't metal-based. Can you explain better the process? To me it doesn't seem directly correlated with light
Wish I could actually use an airbrush. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment and there's simply no spare room to airbrush in safely. No way i'm doing it in rooms where my daughter spends time.
The technique itself hown is good, but the colours are just wrong. Just don't call it an Ultramarine. I enjoy a tealish highlight on them, but this just highlights that there is no proper blue in the paint sets. If someone is planning to do an Ultramarines army, it is reasonable to expect them to buy a bottle of blue.
