- Today I give my first/initial impressions on two new fragrances from Guerlain and Dior. Patchouli Ardent from Guerlain's Les Absolus d'Orient collection and Oud Rosewood from the Maison Christian Dior collection.

In fact, I have great expectations for Patchouli ardent. I really enjoy Guerlain les absolus d'orient collection. I have Santal royal, Musc noble and Encens mythique. Great fragrances for colder days. I hope I'll be able to try this one at a counter sooner or later.

This is just wonderful news because I didn’t know about these two releases . Patchouli ardent sounds beautiful & I do enjoy this line very much . Oud ispahan & leather oud are my favorites & I can’t wait to sample Oud Rosewood . Thanks for great video !

Like the new standing up style. Fully understand what you mean about doing first impressions, I've filmed a couple recently and felt the same. Though it is some thrill and excitement doing first impressions. Great video as always Raj, looking forward to trying the Dior.

@@TheScentientMan yep i can always convey my thoughts on a scent once I've had a chance to think it through, it's not as much the case of not picking the notes, it's just translating what you pick up from your nose in words. But viewers still enjoy these type of videos and enjoy making them so I'll continue. I hope you continue doing first impressions of any new scents you pick up, I enjoyed the video!

Ahhh hahaha Eugen 🙌 thanks for the first impressions im patiently waiting word on it being available here in Canada. I was worried Oud Rosewood was going to be Dior's take on Oud Wood as thats basically what Oud Wood is soft spices rosewood, sandalwood and little to no oud.
I'd say it's quite different to Oud Wood. Oud Rosewood isn't really heavy on the oud. I'll have to wear more of it.
Definitely want to check out patchouli ardent. Patchouli is one of my favorite notes: kerosene fields of rubus, Dior patchouli imperial, histories de parfum noir patchouli, atelier mistral patchouli etc are all amazing.
It's a very nice scent but I don't feel patchouli dominates. It's not even the main note on me. But to be fair I need to test it more. Thanks for watching, Jud.

Brought the 250ml bottle for £200
There was a tech fuck up on the prices when it was first launched
125 ml was £200 and 250ml was also £200 snapped a bottle in maison gift box

I like oud rosewood but my favourite niche is chanel coromandel 200ml
Thats the only 3 niche i have in my collection
Well let's hope there's a glitch on the Chanel website so we can grab a bottle of Coromandel!
Oud Rosewood is not yet on the U.S. Dior website. The smallest size of the Dior privé fragrances (or whatever they're called) you can buy is 125 ml. We're the ugly stepsister of the Dior world. 🤣Great review, Raj.

I've only tried Santal Royal from the Les Absolus d'Orient line and I also found that the scent did not match the name. Good to know that Patchouli Ardent seems to smell good though. (I didn't really enjoy Santal Royal.)
Yeah for me the patch isn’t heavy. I’d say try it but it could go the way of Santal for you.

I bought patchouli ardent blind, without smelling it. I think it smells more like sandalwood than patchouli and has a very luxurious feel to it. An oriental that smells fresh at the same time, probably from the green fig note. This one and santal royal are my favourites and they both reek of luxury, although they have an obscure side to them. Would suit a character like Vito Corleone to perfection. By the way, I also bought bois mysterieux blind and I really regret it. When it dries down it smells like ...well, don't want to shock anyone but I'll say it as it is: unwashed sweaty private bits. Must be the dirty cumin note in it mixed with leather. It is unwearable in public unless you don't mind getting funny looks from strangers.

I'm somewhat interested in Oud Rosewood, based on the name it sounds like it could go the direction of Xerjoff's Alexandria II, perhaps without the Lavender.

I got a boozy fruit note but I wouldn’t call it fig. Maybe I need to try more fog fragrances.
Getting right in to Patchouly atm. Favourite is probably balenciaga pour Homme
I have a sample. It's potent! Need to wear it more. Patchouli is a great note but I don't feel like the Guerlain focuses on it in this one.

Yeah you mentioned it to me a while ago and I later found out that I actually have a sample. It's really great. So smooth and I love the chocolate notes.
