  • This 66 Corvette Resto-Mod project chassis gets disassembled down to a bare frame and goes out for sandblasting. The transmission cross-member gets modified so that the center section is removable. It gets fresh paint and is ready for the new suspension.

I am jealous of your skills. You should be in business restoring Corvettes. Many shops are closing up. One very high quality shop closed near me.

Mr. Shaw your videos are excellent! I’m working on a 79 and I’ve stripped the frame down and getting ready to powder coat. Your videos are very helpful and insightful for someone like me who has never done this before. If you are in Texas I’m ready to come by your shop and soak in the knowledge!
I noticed in the video when the frame was upside down it looked like you had fixed the front crossmember dent. I bought a tool to do that and it helped but not perfect. Did you use bondo for the repair? Seems genius now that I see it. Please don’t stop your videos, I’m going to use your videos as a guide to finish my restoration. I’m TH-cam certified mechanic lol. I’ve watched the differential a few times. I also have Ridetech waiting to be put on with Borgeson PS. Thanks again for providing your knowledge!

Thanks for watching and for the comment. Sorry, not in Texas :). I used a big punch and hammered the crossmember dent out through the hole on top the best I could. Then as you have guessed, I used some body filler to make it look nice. I will be posting the progress to the finish. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the reply, did you do anything to the inside of the car frame? I’ve seen on corvette forums folks spray Eastwood internal frame coating. What are your thoughts? Did you do this?

I'm 69 and people want me to work on their stuff, some say WOW you could make a lot of money 😂...been there-did that. Just keep moving and don't fall and break something!! Ya know they made that suspension from 1963 to 1982, I see a few upgrades they did through the years. My '71 had a lot of those cracked gusset areas beefed up! Thanks for sharing 👍.
