    As somebody who grew up eating Thai food, I love these kinds of recipes because they are for special occasions and rarely eaten. They also show an elegant side to Thai cuisine, where the presentation takes it up a notch.
    I would love to give this a try perhaps for the holidays at the end of the year or for a dinner party sometime.

    Oddly enough, I've learn about this dessert watching Until We Meet Again, a Thai BL series. 😍 I went to research it and made a batch for myself, although I felt I needed to taste the actual dish in Thailand someday soon.

    My brother and I just made this filling recipe to eat as a normal stir fry, but with a few twists: we used diced eggplant and zucchini instead of meat, brown instead of palm sugar (we also used much less sugar since we wouldn't form balls with this -- I eyeballed it, probably around 1-2 tablespoons), soy sauce instead of fish sauce, plus a splash of vinegar. It turned out sooo good!!! Savory and sweet, with a bit of a mild heat that builds up as you eat it. The white peppercorn + garlic + cilantro stems paste is absolutely delicious and it goes super well with the crushed peanuts and sesame seeds!! Thank you Pailin for this recipe :) I can't even imagine how tasty those dumplings must be, that dough looks incredible

    I had come across butterfly pea flour on Amazon one day and saved it to my "foods and cooking" list because I thought that it was such a beautiful color, (blue has always been my favorite color) but I didn't know how people used it, other than as a natural food dye. This is the first recipe that I've seen to utilize this intriguing ingredient and you even used the actual flowers!!! Your dumplings looked very, very beautiful!!!

    • @silvermeasuringspoons6462
      @silvermeasuringspoons6462 ปีที่แล้ว

      Traditionally, the butterfly pea flowers are also heavily used as hair products like hair treatment. My grandma mix it with kaffir lime for shampoos.

    • @susansparke3462
      @susansparke3462 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@silvermeasuringspoons6462 Does it give the hair a bluish tint? I'd imagine that it would look quite pretty on ladies with dark brown/black hair. I'm a natural blonde and a very pale one at that, (as a child my hair was nearly white) so I'd imagine that putting that gorgeously colored butterfly pea "tonic" would have a very different effect on someone with my coloring. Do the butterfly peas have much of an aroma or scent? I'm trying to imagine that with the lime... :)

There's another food which is similar to this one called SA KU SAI MOO. (Tapioca dumpling) The filling is same with this one. I think her next clip might be Tapioca dumpling, because she still have leftover fillings. Let's see!

    This dish actually exists in Vietnam too and it is call rose dumpling bc we shape it to a rosebud shape. I made this once with my mom and it is a tedious process but it is kinda fun if you enjoy the art of it. If you don’t have the special tweezers, which I did not have, you can try to find tweezers in household tools section of the store. I see some set at my local Dollar Tree that definitely has the flat and pointed tips to do this.

Watching your painstaking construction here made me chuckle, remembering all the things I've cooked in the past which took me HOOOOOUUUUURRRRS and then was eaten by people in approximately 8 minutes. Hahaha! People really need to take their time when eating home cooked food like this, not just out of respect but to really appreciate the aroma, the texture, the flavours and the beautiful visual component. I learned to do this more when in Japan and I'm like that with everything I eat now. Also helps you not to overeat, so hey, bonus.

    I had these in a Thai restaurant many years ago and they tasted so good! So, when I saw this recipe, I had to try making them. Yes, it took a long time but it was worth the effort because they were so delicious and most of all, so pretty, just love the vibrant color! It's best to steam them right away but I did freeze some and then steam them the next day and turned out great! Thank you for sharing your detailed recipe!

    Thank you for the efforts. I guess I’ll be too lazy to make them but just watching this really is appetizing.

    Yes! Love seeing these types of dishes! Will I never make it? Most likely not. But it's a part of Thai culinary culture that we rarely get to see outside Thailand, so I appreciate you making this video. Thanks :)

    You can get dried pea flower in middle eastern or Iranian grocery shop.
    It comes in small packet like herbs and spices. Most Asian shop do sell all sort dried flowers like rose bulb or pea flower for cooking or as an inclusion in drinks.
    Do check it out next time you pass by a Asian grocery stall as it will sometime like a new found land for cooking.

    They look gorgeous! I think I'll try to make them sometime, although I'll probably have to sub food coloring for those lovely flowers. I have a bunch of different-tipped tweezers that I use in craft applications which may give nice results too.
