  • How To Move Sprinklers With Swing Pipe
    Moving sprinklers around in your lawn can sometimes be a huge challenge with PVC. It often times results in a lot of digging and repair work with expensive PVC couplings. I have found swing pipe to be a great solution for moving sprinklers around, especially in difficult areas around tree roots and valve boxes. I'll show you some tips and tricks for using swing pipe to help your next project go a little easier.

    Impressive fence. That's twice as high and twice the cost most people do when the get a fence. Looks great too.

    Really helpful, thank you. It seems like you post videos right as I'm planning to do what you just shot the video about. I appreciate the tips.

      Just starting working on using swing/funny pipe and your explanations are easy to follow, thanks. One question, I also live in Texas (Fort Worth) so how deep do I need to bury the swing pipe. It seems you didn't bury as deep as the regular PVC pipe. Would be great if not too deep as I have some great rocky, hard as concrete clay soil. Thanks

      It’s flexible pipe so the depth doesn’t matter all that much. It’s a perfect application for your scenario.

    Why you don't use clamps to secure barbed connections?

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      RainBird designed this hose barb system and it does not require clamps.

    So one bone to pick. Don’t modify the trenching shovel, the job that it’s tasked to do requires that. Better off removing the dirt with your hand than deal with a dull trenching shovel when you need to trench! I ruined enough tools in my time. Any person endeavoring to do this kind of job should have already considered collecting a few basic tools. Good video though, I just couldn’t resist pointing that out. I’ll hit the button✌🏾

    How do you connect your swing pipe to your PVC pipe

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my situation- I had a 1/2” female coupling on my sprinkler line for a spray head. I removed the sprinkler head and used a 1/2 x hose barb elbow fitting to connect the swing pipe in the direction it needed to go.

      @@ReelTurf thank you just came from Lowes with the right fittings to get another sprinkler head added to my zone!

    Do you have freezing winter? How does the pipe deal with it?

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not have freezing winters. I would assume like any rubber pipe it can expand and contract. You would want to make sure you’re buried below the freezing line and blow out the irrigation system prior to winter.

    Looks like you used swing pipe instead of flex pipe. I’m trying to make a decision on my project. Does it matter which one we use? Thanks.

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey thanks for reaching out! By flex pipe I’m assuming you’re talking about the type you would run in a flower bed for drip line (minus the drip holes). That pipe is usually connected in line with a pressure regulator that keeps the water pressure below 30 psi. Flex pipe is not typically used for normal sprinkler runs. You will want to use swing pipe for areas that you need to add a single head somewhere. Swing pipe can handle the normal pressure that a zone is carrying. Otherwise if you’re planning a zone, you’ll need pvc pipe to meet the proper flow rates. Hope that helps!

      @@ReelTurf I have 3/4” pipe and use it to feed all the sprinklers for each zone. From the pvc pipe to the sprinkler, I’ve used swing pipe. Now, I am trying to add another sprinkler from an existing head rather than from the main pvc pipe. The distance is 10’ and was wondering if I should use swing pipe or flex pipe. Home Depot’s website says flex pipe is rated a max 100 psi but the swing pipe is only 30 psi.

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see what you’re seeing as well. The swing pipe I used in the video is green. RainBird swing pipe. Look it up on sprinklerwarehouse. Rated at 80 psi. But with that said the HD flex pipe shows to be rated at 100 psi and would also do the job.
