Outstanding documentary covering a truly outstanding defensive action by a truly OUTSTANDING infantry battalion. Fascinating to hear the testimony of people I have read about many times. Some outstanding individuals across all ranks. Thoroughly enjoyed this! UP THE GLOSTERS! RESPECT!

Some men. My grandfather was one of the POW, but passed away sadly just before I was born so never got to hear these stories first hand. Can only imagine the thought of being stranded on a hill with 10,000 Chinese/North Korean enemies surrounding

Especially considering the Glosters were using Bolt Action Rifles.

South Koreans have deep reverence for the sacrifice of the men of the Gloucestershire Regiment.

As a Korean I can assure you, the Gloucesters have immortalised themselves into the history of our country.
We will never forget that so few stood tall to defend so many in a land so far from their homes .
      We will remember them.

On April 24, 1951, Liu Guangzi from the 2nd Compay of the 561st Regiment, 187th Division of the 63rd Army of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, who captured 63 soldiers from the Gloucestershire Regiment all by himeself.
Throughout China's involvement of Korean war, the total deathtoll of the People's Volunteer Army was 197653, there is absolutely no way that almost one third of the of this number is contributed by this battle alone.

@@TomGodson95 At the exact same time at Kapyong, 700 Canadians in the 2 PPCLI were surrounded for two days and held out successfully against 20,000 Chinese PVA and prevailed. The Canadians were assisted crucially by long distance artillery fire from 5 miles distant by the New Zealand artillery.

Not much choice when you are surrounded either fight or surrender Bugout means running, retreating US soldiers did it a lot until Gen. Walton Walker put a stop to it

@@ECC-ec A surrender is not a last stand. A last stand is a fight to the death, which is what the Canadians did at Kapyong. The Canadians were fortunate to get artillery support and prevail.
