Funny thing every painter I’ve known an let just say being a mechanic for 40 years it’s been a lot. They all complain about everything. It’s almost like a job requirement.
You did a beautiful job. I’m gonna do my van this spring. To many other things to worry about before I care about the paint. Of course I’m not doing it for a job I’m doing because I love the van.

Thanks for the feedback, if you review my other videos you will see I rarely "complain' this particular job was a case of everything going wrong that could go wrong.
This is a hobby for me, not an occupation, so I'd rather focus on classic restorations and restomods, my time is more important than any monetary amount of compensation. The introduction of this video was more accurate than I thought when I said "Against my better judgement* 😂.
This van in theory seemed like a good idea, but as the scope continued to evolve to more time, it became less and less enjoyable. 😆
Thanks again for your feedback I really contemplated putting this video up because I'm typically pretty upbeat, but I will always keep it real. 😎

@@3Wheels1Block please don't take me wrong it wasn't meant to be mean it's just a funny observation. Kind like everyone said us engine mechanics (guys that do diesel inflame rebuilds) all talk to ourselves. While cussing out engine parts.
Anytime in a shop you'll know what I mean.

I get it 😆 there is most definitely a conversation that takes place when repairing or painting anything in the garage. I appreciate your feedback, it helps me remember I'm not the only one in the struggle 😎

I was looking into the move bumper for my van. What is your opinion about it?

MOVE has a very nice product line. It is well with the money and time. If you like the look you can't go wrong for the price. If I was building an overland or off-road vehicle I would look at a MOVE or like bumper.

Doing the lord's work. Now I know why the shop owners sound like I murdered their dog when I tell them I have a Chevy Express. Also, why they ghost me. I guess everyone has been bitten by a demanding billboard/Eagles fan before me. I just don't want a meth head breaking in while I sleep, cause it looks like every other cargo van. Is it enough to sand around current spots before priming or do I need to find someone that'll take it all the way down?

Thanks for your comment. If you have paint that is lifting I highly recommend that you sand all of those areas down. You typically do not have to strip an entire vehicle down unless it is all compromised. I would recommend spraying the entire van with epoxy primer. That will give you the best adhesion. Good luck with your project 😎

@@3Wheels1Block At this point, i think painting it myself might be easier than finding a shop to do it. I'm on YT trying to learn car paint. I've only ever had classic restorations and they always sanded, primed, and painted the whole thing. One and done. I feel like the shops are burying me in jargon and complicated multilevel options followed by "unless you want it done right and that would be a waste." I suspect no one wants to paint it.

@@DeadWeightGaming2020 I understand, cans are a lot of real estate. Basically like painting two small cars or a crew cab long bed dually. If you are doing raptor or T-Rex line, I would recommend rolling the top, if not the whole thing, it will be less mess and take less time.

@@3Wheels1Block I'm just trying to get a regular paint job.

Ohhhhh, ok I got you now. Sorry, I was thinking that you were trying to get it raptor lined.
For a standard paint job on a full size van I would see between $4,000-7,000 depending on bodywork needed, paint type, etc. from a DIY perspective you could go with a single stage if you are doing a solid color, sand paper, taper and your material would be about $1,000 maybe. Then it's all up to you to make it happen. The biggest thing if you are painting is a tall ladder and some knee pads to prep the top of the van, unless you have really long arms.
