    -If they don't want you to get stuck by touching the metal handrails, then they should have them covered with material that won't stick. I might automatically grab the metalic handrail, out of habit, and get pissed at myself as well as inconveniencing other people. Or I might lose my balance slightly, while ascending the ladder and grab the metalic handrail out of reflex. I saw the wooden posts that you can grab, and that is perfect for regular people. But, habit and reflex will have me grabbing the closest object to me. Those handrails looked to be closer than the wooden posts. I'm wondering how often people get stuck, annually, because they accidentally touched them. This expectation of not touching them, when they are so close (or are even there at all) is crazy, to me.
    -I cannot do this, but for medical reasons. I do have asthma, but it is controlled. It is from exposure to asbestos until I was seven years old. It was in the floors and ceiling of the low income housing I lived in. My mother and brother have it, too. But, my mother's turned into COPD. I could control the asthma and evening the breathing, but I would not be able to control the pain from the cold. I have Fibromyalgia. We have more nerve endings than normal people. So, like a dog can hear more acutely, we feel more acutely. It used to take me thirty minutes to get into a public pool that was cooler than 26.7C. (26.7 is cold, but barely tolerable). I'm found ways of speeding my introduction up. But, I also have Reynauld's Syndrome. For most people circulation breaks down at under 7C, their hands and feet go pail and numb. My circulation starts breaking down below 18C. My feet go pail and numb. My hands turn purple and very painful. It feels like arthiritis, but it's between the joints. It feels like my fingers are being squeezed and crushed. What I'm feeling is the capillaries contract and squeeze closed. So, I prefer not being in weather below 23.8C. Even having my hands in front of an air conditioner hurts after a while. I don't make my own heat, so I have to use a heating pad at bedtime or a heated stationary feet covering when I'm awake but watching television. Gloves only keep the cold in and only work if my hands are already heated up. But, after a nice hot bath, my mother will go outside, in the cold air to close her pores, again, for health.

    I'd give it a shot! We have traditional saunas (very enjoyable) in Northern Michigan, USA -- where lots of Finns settled -- but the opportunity to try a dip in icy water has not yet presented itself.

      I was raised in the Upper Pennisula and I remember that Lake Superior is about like ice hole swimming.....even in summertime it is frigid! We use to go down near the power plant discharge just because it was warm.

    I tried this on a cruise ship after a couple stops in Finland. Did the sauna first and then a dip in an icy bath. It wasn't as cold as an ice covered lake. But it was very bracing and I did feel very relaxed and comfortable afterward. Would definitely do it again. I think I need to see more of Finland. Thank you for your videos.

    Why is it easier for you to go ice swimming without a sauna? It seems to me that going into the cold water straight from the sauna would be easier as it would allow for a more gradual transition to the cold water. 😎

    • @HerFinland
      @HerFinland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for commenting! 🧡🇫🇮 Sometimes it's easier as you are not too comfortable in the sauna's warmth.

    🥶🤪! I always wonder that you do that after sauna 🤔: as kid we were always told not to jump into water after have been sweating in the sun because of the risk of hydrocution…. 🤷‍♀️?

    • @HerFinland
      @HerFinland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm Yes probably best not to jump in icy cold water but it should be ok if you take a brief period outside of the sauna before going straight into the water 🙏

    Varpu, thank you for being my ice swimming fairy godmother. I will pray for you and your family. Can’t wait to tell my wife.
    We live in Texas so for right now I go buy ice from the ice machine and dump it in the bathtub. The ice melts in under a minute even in cold water. Thank you for helping me with my health. Blessings of God in Christ Jesus
