    ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.
At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine or in person if you're in the Lexington, KY area. We find a lot of undiagnosed Pre-Diabetes or Insulin Resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like Pre-Diabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

    ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
    FORD BREWER MD MPH PrevMedHeartRisk.com
Dr. David Ludwig wrote a book call ALWAYS HUNGRY. Dr. Ludwig is a pediatric endocrinologist at Harvard. He's head of the obesity center there, and has done a large amount of the recent obesity research. His book is not to be confused by the other book on the topic of Endocrine causes of obesity, FAT CHANCE by Robert Lustig.
I have had my own filter, or resistance to learning the problems with carbs in the diet and the endocrine response. I started as an ER doc and became very emotional about the huge amount of preventable disease coming into my er. I went to Hopkins for training in prevention. I eventually ran that program. I had a major filter about carbs. It took me more than a year to focus on it. But it is now clear that carbs cause an endocrine storm resulting in fat deposition. Proteins and fats in the diet do not cause this increase in obesity.

I'm never hungry. Always feel full. Eat once a day only because of medicine I take at night. Only a instant breakfast with yogurt frozen.

Is Ghrelin the same as MK 677 ? A growth hormone secretagogue?

+acjitsu No. But very close. It mimics ghrelin by having the same effect (agonist) on ghrelin receptors.

You always have great insight! I had a question about a previous video. Did I understand you correctly that if one is carrying a specific gene, then even eating fats can be just as dangerous to that person as sugar can be? We would not know if we have that specific gene without a genetic test. Could that explain a rising artery plaque with years of eating low carb and mostly plant-based diets with some fats like butter or Olivio, meats, cheeses, etc., and also having high levels of HDL, low levels of TriG and LDL's, along with continued Level 5 h1C, and low BP and appropriate vitamin supplementation and exercise? Whew! 😊
