Buying high quality batteries, like sodium batteries that are safer and more durable is one such thing. Storing them in a designated area only used for these os an other. Having that area contained by firesystem and watertight(and thus having less draft airflow for the fire) doors is an other. Being able to isolate the area from for example the aircon you’ll be able to keep the fire contained to one area, reduced in sight or even out if the fireextingishing stystem will have enough water, pressure and a course of energie. This boat has big generators for the latter. So eventhough it is a risk it is a contained risk. Yes the boat might still be badly damaged and worse come to worse sink. But with the systems (firealarms and smoke detectors) it gives plenty of time to act (close doors isolate room and evacuate no essentional personal and prossibly evacuate entirely) with change of loss of life at a minimum. Having your tenders and the offloading equipment still operational during the fire bc of the way the systems work should make the use of tenders, communication equipment(for sos) possible. Its about improving odds. Sure it would suck to be stranded in the middle of the ocean but you’d still have good odds to be picked up by sea travelers or the coast guard. Firesafety can also be containment of fire, in this case most of those measures are static(built in), automatic or manual(either as backup or stand alone)
Love the Arksen brand. Now having watch this and other walkthrough of the product, I feel I have a greater understanding of Arksen philosophise. One question that I think a lot of people would ask is, "What is the delivery time from first contact to stepping onboard ready to leave port for the owner"?. Thanks again for the great insight into these wonderful explorer yachts.
Thank you for your question. Build time for the Arksen 85 is 24 months and for the 65 it is 18 months. The time from first contact to stepping onboard depends on the individual owner and any customisations they would like to make ahead of the build start.
Steve and Linda Dashew may not have understood bathroom sinks belongs in the bathroom, but they sure did influenced a new generation of boat designers.
Great craft, aluminium takes the worry of rust out of the equation plus it has to be way lighter. Love the look and feel of this little ship and the tasteful Scandinavian look and feel of the interior with a complimentary colour pallet is nicely done. Would personally like the teak deck option but that's just me. Love the work space in the engine room. Superb thorough walkthrough of a very well designed and furnished boat. Loved the deckplan schematics shown, it really helps perspectives when your not there. Scratching for a complaint just because, the only thing is when you talked about boat 2's different layout, a photo or drawing would have been nice.

I think they're hard into marketing their own brand so they chose to not acknowledge the fact it's a copy. These sort of situations are why I generally hate marketing people. Anyone who follows the dashew stuff knows he gave his designs to a company... in the Isle of White. Still a damn fine vessel though, not taking away to the builders... but the whole marketing situation is unfortunate. If anything it would sell better if it accepted itself as a FPB clone, as those are unobtainium.

A VERY SPECIAL boat 🚢...Something I would feal safe traveling the seven seas 🌊 on!!!!....it would be great to know what it would cost to build one just like that 😀 😮😊...
I like the raw finish ... but still weighing up the options between aluminium or steel. Re Bering, they give their steel boats plenty layers of paint coatings, can last for years and reduces maintenance costs.
Hi, it’s a good question and one we hope to soon be able to provide a detailed answer to. Due to the wonderfully bleak British weather we have had during the trials period, we have as yet been unable to fully assess the solar panels power output. We will be monitoring this as the vessel moves into sunnier locations!
@@arksenprojectscurious as to why fellas? Are your BMS's so rudimentary as to not give basic system data?? That being said, if you'd said its the owners information to share, not yours, I'd have been happy. On a house system of similar size, installed in January on the West coast of Ireland, my brother can tell me when someone puts the kettle on! And to within a inch of exact, what, day to day, the system is doing! So, don't just "talk " the green talk, walk the green walk! The numbers are not that important, (my brother tweaked the battery environment to make a significant improvement), the transparency is! Great video though. Great job throughout. One tweak though, I would have totally isolated the LFP's to a stern quarter watertight locker, and run wires from there forward, with nothing else there, other than monitoring/suppression and possibly an ejection system? IF there is a runaway fire, you lose some melted aluminium and batteries, but nothing else! I am absolutely sure the BMS's are monitored to within an inch of their lives! Anything outside 10% of norm, take offline, isolate, and replace! Prevention beats cure! Super build!
I really wonder how much engine room noise the captain's cabin will experience. I also wonder if these have ethernet jacks in the cabins, and if there are other considerations for networking and satellite internet.
Between the engine room and the captain's cabin is the battery room. Both the engine room and battery room are each A60 fire insulated (which is inherently an excellent noise insulator) and then on the interior side, there is foam sound insulation and sound dampening panels.
Ethernet ports are fitted at workstations/desks as standard however network can be installed to each owner's requirements. Data services available and typically fitted, include Starlink, Iridium Certus, VSAT, 5G GSM etc, to the owner’s exact requirements.
Incredible ship. Next time maybe the walkthrough could focus the visuals on the Arksen instead of the guys talking. Would be nice to see more of this beautiful workmanship. Camera can’t seem to pan away from them to show us the boat. Disappointing video for a stunning amount of engineering.
Thank you so much for this walk through with such detail, I've been waiting so long and have following this build ever since the concept was advertised. One concern: At 34:00, the hydraulic line fittings look corroded already. Please tell me it's just a coating.
Wet room and dry locker makes a ton of sense. Something not seen on other explorers like Bering. Adding this to my NBBL. Not sure I like the Utilitarian style. I know aluminium is not super easy to work with so there is a limit to what you can do with it. The interior seems a bit chunky and cheap. I would have thought the interior would be up to par with explorer mini super yachts. I like the unsinkable self righting ability of these boats but.. it comes at a big cost. Why does the shipyard build the interior cheaper than say, Bering etc ? Im a little confused about life raft deployment and the self righting ability of the boat. Im thinking out aloud here so stay with me.. Im thinking about sailing around the world and some of the areas I want to sail have a significant frequency of freak waves. This is why I am considering Arksen. So if the ship is capsized and self rights.. how functional is it after this event ? How does the interior stand up to a roll, and will the life rafts automatically deploy in a recovered roll ? To be honest.. freak waves bother me far more than striking something submerged. While that does bother me esp with an aluminium hull, its the rollover that really scares me. For example a Bering can recover up to 90 degrees.. after that, its most stable position is upside down. How does your hull compare to a steel hull against being holed ? How would one even repair a holed aluminium hull ?
You have an issue with Bering? I would think that if you were concerned with freak waves like the ones in the Indian Ocean, you would want a steel hull vessel that is more stable in the water with a less likely chance to be rolled over. Plus, the issue with aluminum if you do get a hole, is the need to do an emergency at sea patch. Way harder to,weld a patch on aluminum vs steel. And Bering isn't cheap. Their quality was better than Numarine and even a couple of Heesen's. Granted Feadship a d Benetti had nicer interiors, but you also, weren't paying Benetti and Feadship prices nor the tax that comes attached to that name. As far as the rollover hull, that is theoretical. They small scale tested it, but never ship that was fully built and kitted out. They didn't factor that in. If you are wanting to sail the world and have the money like you sound like you do, then look for a broker yacht from CdM, Feadship, Van DerWalk or Picchiotti. If you want a slightly discounted explorer, then Nordhavn has a proven track record of truly going anywhere, also Kingship, Cheoy Lee and Penglai all make excellent explorer and expedition yachts, built in China. I'm just a giant yacht nerd that has worked on yachts and toured yachts, so I am biased based on who isn't afraid to show you everything versus those companies that hides stuff.
@@clifbradley No one builds to my exact standards. One of the biggest issues in yachts is water and mold. If you have an AC unit, you are pumping moisture and mold through your boat assuming aluminium AC Fins and standard ducting etc. I want copper alloy or silver and or alloy AC with copper ac. Bering understand copper pipes but they must go right to the floor so that mold does not grow in drains. Doors need to be a little elevated from the deck so water does not intrude in rough seas. Batteries can combust so the only way to handle that is some sort of ejection system or you lose your ship. Props are still using classic designs despite their inefficiencies and noise to marine life - we have many new prop designs now that lower noise and increase thrust as well as reducing cavitation.. important for full displacement vessels. Meeting EU environmental standards for interior air quality is critical for me too as I am mold and chemical sensitive. Im also wifi sensitive so I have a plethora of protections to reduce that too esp as there is radar and coms unit on top of the fly bridge. Range is critical as is fuel economy because if the world blows up now, fuel prices and even obtaining diesel fuel will be challenging. I have looked at used vessels for ages, I have spoken to many brokers who seem to have no clue about what they are selling. I really like Nautistyles (Nautiguys) new boat and their NBBL they have going.. very practical. For instance their kitchen design is very clever and I never thought to get a chef to design the galley. I want to live on board permanantly (for most of the year), so the boat will not be for charter unless I feel like sharing. Thus having a second owner like cabin is important, and of course.. I want the crew to be comfortable so they can enjoy being on board and of course.. safe in bad weather. Security is a concern too.. pirates are problem in some places I want to travel so that is a challenge too. Things like Side scan sonar, duel radar, and so much more. Size of the yacht is an issue too and whilst big seems better.. its not. Big creates problems with dock availability, legal issues with crew, and increases the cost of yearly maintenance. I have enough to spend ten years on the water if I am careful. After this, its back to land. Im honestly not sure when I would get sick of living on the water but at the moment whilst the world is so insane, having a long range explorer seems a great way to move away from regions of conflict or insane politics. So many issues arise that most never really think about. Most people do not want to live permanantly on their boats either. Sigh.. I should have ordered a yacht back in 2020 when I first considered it. As for Steel vs Aluminum.. I do get this. Bering have a terminal role of 90 degrees. This might seem a lot but if you look at the frequency of freak waves in the indian ocean etc.. 90 degrees might not cover it. Yes I know the problems with aluminium and repairability. I am considering this too and yes this vessel has not been tested which is frustrating because no one wants to buy an untested vessel. All of this causes me to wait.. mean while my money is devaluing whilst the cost of vessels keeps increasing lol.
@@BrettMoore66 By definition, fiat currency has zero value. We can agree on the exchange rate -- so many slips of printed paper for so many hours of labor or pounds of aluminum -- but that can quickly and easily shift due to opinions and availability. Money has zero value.
It fully depends on the owner-operator's preference. From a boat-handling perspective - absolutely. Then if the owner is someone who enjoys maintaining the vessel there would be nothing stopping you. Generally, people would choose to have at least one crew member on the vessel, whether they are full-time or part-time, to help maintain the boat in the long term. However, if you had a family onboard who are all keen to muck in and get involved and be part of the process then it can certainly be a full owner/operator's vessel. The layout options onboard can certainly flex to allow the ability to scale up or down the crew depending on the needs throughout the year.
I lived on the road for six years in a Hymer motorhome whatever people say you are living like its not an adventure ,where can i empty black or get potable water , the you tube etc vids are oblocks , just saying .
Would it be possible for you to stretch the Size of the Boat, so that it could include a Helideck & Hangar ( refueling station) for a small 5-seater Bell 505 ( 1.5t), without loosing the fuel and eco friendly perfomance of an Arksen Explorer Yacht. ManyTHX
Absolutely - we are able to offer custom designs of any size and are currently working on enquiries for much larger vessels, that offer this sort of capability, without losing the Arksen approach to fuel efficiency and range.

Great, another Deshew's FPB knockoff. I wonder if Steve and Linda even know of the trends they've created. I will say though, out of all the knockoffs, I like this one the best. It's beautifully done.
@@offthetrack-k8y That’s good. I read he was doing some consulting work. It’s good to see someone using a similar design with help from the original creator. If he was involved in this design at all, then I’m sure it’s a legitimate and safe ocean cruiser.
It would be nice if all these knockoff’s would give credit to the Dashew’s for the decades of design that went into the FPB’s, and the revolutionary trends they have set for the next generation. But not one mention of them….
You are completely correct. The worst thing is that these people talk as if it were the latest innovation. One of the things I hate most is dissimulation... Shame.
I loved mr dashew s originals, then I was a student of engineering and thought it was ground breaking. Now I switched to medicine. Prolly can never afford something that works on water but still like to imagine great things are possible . These thieves should be taken to task.

Hi Richard. We offer a range of interior configurations and material selections. This particular vessel features a selection of veneered, painted and laminate finishes, depending on space and its use (as well as the Owner’s tastes of course). We generally try to keep to a tight weight budget, in order to maintain the efficiency our Owners seek, however we always maintain the required robustness in high traffic areas and of course the high standard of finish. I hope this answers your question, thanks for the enquiry!

A dream ship for all. What is the life expectation of the hule? Is the static build-up a problem?
During your sea trial, what was the actual solar power output? Average daily kw/h would be great information. Thanks.
Rough, rugged and smooth all at the same time... I want one. What's the warranty period?
looking forward to seeing this boat at the big yacht shows. When will it be shown?

@Arksen.
Great vessel. How much did it cost? How long to build?
Incredible ship. Next time maybe the walkthrough could focus the visuals on the Arksen instead of the guys talking. Would be nice to see more of this beautiful workmanship. Camera can’t seem to pan away from them to show us the boat. Disappointing video for a stunning amount of engineering.
Thank you so much for this walk through with such detail, I've been waiting so long and have following this build ever since the concept was advertised.
One concern: At 34:00, the hydraulic line fittings look corroded already. Please tell me it's just a coating.
Nope, not a coating. Those are heavily rusted.
This is an anti-corrosive tape you can see, if you look closely you can see it wrapping around the fittings.
Is it possible to add something like Michelin foldable mast in the future models?
Not sanding the wields smooth on the hull is absolute madness.
Please refer back to the timestamp of 3:45 for further insight on the exterior finish.
@derm,
Feel free to grind away... after you buy it.
Most builders include a finished hull and decks/superstructure. This should be heavily discounted.
most builders of what? expedition yachts?
Thanks for your comment! We have emailed you directly with answers to your questions. All the best.
@@BrettMoore66
By definition, fiat currency has zero value.
We can agree on the exchange rate -- so many slips of printed paper for so many hours of labor or pounds of aluminum -- but that can quickly and easily shift due to opinions and availability.
Money has zero value.
@@largemarge1603 What ? How does that add to the conversation of aluminium hulls and supposed self righting ?
hermosa maquina !!!
Impressive build, what brand are the solar panels?
can Arksen 85 operate by the onwer themself and without other professional crew members?

What a joy to be taken onboard in such detail. Thames you for the opportunity.
Wouldn't most food waste be edible for sea life?
So many rough welds. Please tell me this is just a prototype and the rest of the fleet won't look like this.
it's aluminum. it's not the same as welding steel.

Why is the Captain Cabin not the head engineers cabin?
probably because on a boat like this the captain will also be the engineer.
Would have been nice if the camera man looked around a little bit...
Great, another Deshew's FPB knockoff. I wonder if Steve and Linda even know of the trends they've created. I will say though, out of all the knockoffs, I like this one the best. It's beautifully done.
Steve had imput into this design
@@offthetrack-k8y That’s good. I read he was doing some consulting work. It’s good to see someone using a similar design with help from the original creator. If he was involved in this design at all, then I’m sure it’s a legitimate and safe ocean cruiser.
Simp harder 😂
I guess the FPB‘s hulls are more slippery and can go faster than this one. But of course Dashew invented the whole concept.

Surprised this particular boat doesn't have a stern thruster. Why have a bow but not stern thruster on a boat this size?
the owner didn't want it for what ever reason. the hybrid version has bow and stern thrusters.
Dream ship
It looks like a battleship from world war II era.
Nice yacht but like the bering yachts a little more
Bering yachts are steel and about 2 times heavier and don't have nearly the same range.
For those who don't know, this yacht is a copy of the FPB concept designed by Steve and Linda Dashew.
Is that a problem? Steve and Linda Dashew are not in business anymore
@@kevinvandal8595 the only problem visible to me is you.
@MrL,
And for those who know, the facts are pretty much the same...
It would be nice if all these knockoff’s would give credit to the Dashew’s for the decades of design that went into the FPB’s, and the revolutionary trends they have set for the next generation. But not one mention of them….
I completely agree.
You are completely correct. The worst thing is that these people talk as if it were the latest innovation. One of the things I hate most is dissimulation... Shame.
Yes. There are no excuses for that.
I loved mr dashew s originals, then I was a student of engineering and thought it was ground breaking. Now I switched to medicine. Prolly can never afford something that works on water but still like to imagine great things are possible .
