    Thanks for the quick rundown on the SMH10R, and bonus points for the cat.

    1:26 regarding left and right mount - these are specifically designed only for left side of helmet. Reason is that your right hand should always be on the throttle/brake. Great vid.

    thanks for the video .. do you think the battery pack will effect the Aerodynamic on high speed?

  • @ShogunGrenade
    @ShogunGrenade  9 ปีที่แล้ว

    renegadebiker24 Sorry your having issues with your unit. I personally prefer the SMH10r due to its smaller size. I feel it fits better on a my helmet. What are the issues your having? and have you done the software update for the GP pack and your main unit? Mine required a update for both.

    I had a question. Is the audio quality different from the Wired mike and the boom mike?
    What are the advantages / disadvantages of the wired mike?

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foco Ninja I wouldnt really say the audio quality is different between the two. Its more personal preference/helmet style that determine which one you should use. I have two helmets and two Sena's one has a boom and one has the mini mic. The boom mic tends to dampen wind noise a bit more, but if you place the mini mic correctly (like under cheek pad) the wind noise is dampened.

      @foconinja917 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya I just installed mine into my helmet. The boom mike fits perfectly and was honestly easier to install. So I used that one.
      Thanks!

    ShogunGrenade Is the SMH10R better than the SMH10-11? I seem to be having problems with my SMH10-11, and the GP-10 Battery backpack. I have called Sena for the past few days, and I am put on hold or they tell me to leave a voicemail. I am pretty well sick of being put on hold and voicemail. I am in the process of uploading another test video, but it seems like the same problems are with the SMH10-11 that I had when I first got it.

    Odd question but are the speakers loud enough that I could hear them with those squishy ear plugs? I want to block the wind noise (hearing protection), but hear music as well. I don't like buds because they hurt after a few hours or less.

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Bennett I have not tried it with the ear plugs. But I can hear the speaker over the wind noise on the freeway without any issues. So I would assume you could with the foam plugs.

    You don't need to do all that to connect to your phone Bluetooth just turn it on and turn on your phone Bluetooth and connect.

    What would you have to do differently for a modular helmet? I have a Shoei and haven't seen any videos describing this. Thanks!

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kirk Perry it would be the same install procedure. By you would use a boom mic (mic on stick) and it would be nearly impossible for anyone to hear you like talking with the front face open. But you should still be able to hear music.

    so the unit itself is not removable from the helmet? how well it sticks together against theft for example?

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can either use the 3M adhesive or velco. The unit would be hard to steal because you would have to not only rip off the main unit which if using the 3M is really hard to remove and damages the helmet unless using a heat source. You would also have to remove the ear bud prices which are probably routed through the cheek pads. Most likely you would damage it if you tried to steal it quickly.

      The battery and controls mount on the outside of helmet with 3M double stick. Easy to remove those. The speakers and mic are internal and need to have the helmet guts taken out to remove. I have moved my unit from one helmet to a new one very easily. As for fighting theft - um, the thief would be better off taking the entire helmet in order to get to the speakers etc. Tearing off the battery and controls would not be worth much. The 3M does hold very well.

    2 questions can u install the battery inside the helmet and do I have to do the update

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The battery is too large and would probably cause you harm if you went down and it was inside the helmet. Yes you should do the update on it before using. There has been 2 updates since I bought mine.

    SO... I am looking into getting this set and my bike is kind of loud.. was wondering if that would interfere with the sound quality.

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** As long as you tuck the mic into the helmet well you wont have any issues. All of the bikes I have used the Sena with have been extremely loud. All aftermarket exhausts without baffles. I havent had any issues with noise interference. =)

      ***** it should be fine man. I have a 100$ hjc helmet. That thing is reallllllyyyy loud. so much wind noise. But I called my brother on my phone using this and he said it was clear and he couldn't hear anynoise. He said the he could hear the bike sound a little bit but it's nothing distracting, annoying, or does it get in the way.

    So the speakers are behind the cheek pad?

    • @ShogunGrenade
      @ShogunGrenade  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      not exactly. they are behind the head liner in the ear channel. if you look in a helmet you will see a ear pocket. they sit in there.

    • @ShogunGrenade

      To turn the unit on hold the center and front (volume up) button down for 3 seconds. You will hear a ring noise through the headset and a "hello".

      Review from 5 year user: SMH10R is just a basic quality system for the helmet. Speakers and mic are average which means the sound is not the best, but not the worst and the mic sounds like a tin can with the string pulled tight :-P The key to this unit is the small sized and streamlined controls. If you want top quality this is not the unit for you. Battery has lasted 5 years with year round usage for 45 minute commute - outstanding. I like the unit and bought another for another helmet i have. Its a helmet speaker system so I am not looking for Beats quality, just something so I can hear the music/call etc.
