Susan was the first Corgi that the Queen, then 18 year old Princess, owned. All of her offspring have died and she announced that she would not be acquiring anymore for fear that they would be left behind when she passed. While Prince Philip was in the hospital, her 2nd son, Prince Andrew, surprised her with two pups, Fergus, a dorgi mix, and Muick, a purebred Corgi.
I know I am only an American, but they are my favourite couple of the world. They compliment each other and the Love is so real.

It is called respect for one another, not dogging each other for their interests and or odd behavior. She made him King in the home and she was Queen outside, and truly, who cares about his gaffes over the years he made the Royal family real while she made it Regal. I have always sensed that Prince Phillip is very protective of the Queen.
He's her handler. It's his job to make sure everything goes well and smoothly with her so that those in power behind the scenes can continue to rule. The Rothschild banking dynasty are the real powers behind the throne. It doesn't surprise me that Elizabeth seems to be dysfunctional and needs someone else to be her crutch. Her father was murdered so that they could put his easily manipulated daughter on the throne as the figurehead. Women don't engender the kind of animosity or have a say in the running of things the way that male kings do. She's seen as the mother of the nation and it is very cynical on their part but obviously very effective in their plan to rule the nations. Where do you think these monarchs get their money and power from? The Rothschilds are considered the only trillionaires in the world. No monarchy can claim that achievement. The queen was raised in an institution called the monarchy so she is very institutionalized just as anyone raised in an institution would be. You may see it as romantic and sweet but the truth is actually more disturbing. Phillip being protective of the queen is not about a husband looking after his wife but that of a man looking after his charge who just happens to be his wife. It's his job.

For real. He was already of a royal family, he could have broken it off for his kids to keep his name as many royals would and no one would bat an eyelid because it's the norm, but did it for her. These two do seem very much in love.
I suppose being an officer in the navy in WW2 has made him good at taking charge and being confident in his abilities.

I disagree that the Queens conversational skills were limited, watching her interactions with people I would say that she was more then proficient and her sense of humour was infectious.

Well, I’ve seen that happen (the one spouse dying within a very short time after the first spouse dies) in what seemed to be the most awful relationships. Times when I thought that the surviving spouse would be dancing on the other’s grave. But surprisingly, usually with 12 months, the survivor dies,too. Go figure!

Artur Rofi. No, the relationships that have seemed so awful were full of disrespect, emotional cruelty, verbal abuse, & intense hostility. But now that I think about it, the surviving spouse may have died from not having anyone to abuse & torture any more & May have died as a result of not having a outlet for all that hostility. Yeah, they don't seem to get rid of the female monarchs like they do the males. Male kings get bumped off or discarded at the drop of a hat. They let the women rule for a long time. The old boys network behind the throne doesn't like competition from a male king who has his own ideas and has his own power. They much prefer a woman figurehead who just goes along to get along in this male controlled world letting the men wield power behind the scenes. She's their beard if you will. This is the truth behind the monarchy that shallow people who only go by appearances and don't care about the corrupt underbelly that manipulates and controls everything behind the monarchy will either ignore or be unwittingly or willingly be ignorant to. I much rather prefer the truth.

That is why I think prince Philip is still alive cause he wants to always be there for Elizabeth until she is done being queen. He loves her but people have to understand that in the early years Philip was the one in charge in the army and then in the blink of a eye his wife became queen over night and she became his boss and ruler and in the 20s 30s ect he wore the pants not women. But after time I think he could understand what she was going through. True love

anamuls and us A nice comment, but just one thing. Philip was an officer in the Royal Navy, not the army. His uncle, Lord Mountbatten was the First Sea Lord. Philip was made admiral, air marshal and field marshal when his wife became queen. To be honest, I don't think she will ever be done with being queen until she dies. She swore an oath at her coronation, and that to her is a sacred promise to her people. Fantastic lady who puts duty above everything else.
