@@lesamccoy8373 Look at the first pass - from the starting leg to #2 that was perfection. Dont just focus on the hand off....the hand off + the position of the two runners at hand off + how quickly the next runner takes off. Leg 2 to flojo was also good/clean. Flojo to Evelyn - there was too much play in the hand off, wasnt clean, the spot she is holding is a bit odd as we can see the way the stick is being carried, Evelyn seemed to slow up to make sure she had the stick which made flojo almost bump into her (thats also part of the exchange)...it could have been FloJo came in too hot for Evelyn because they almost bumped into each other. the best pass of this relay was the leadoff to the second leg. This is how you hand off! Way back in the dark ages, our coach beat it into our heads, to not look back. You start your take off with your hand out! It is the responsibility of the person handing you the baton, to slap it into the receivers hand. You waste time turning around. He also told us to not switch hands. Whichever hand receives the baton, that’s what you run with. Track is still my favorite sport!

@Kildare Aleksander you dumb ass, there wasn't any doping going on!
I came back just minutes after watching this, I actually cried, I am so proud of our women.
Evelyn Ashford was a pure runner. Loved seeing her run. The first leg (Alice) ran like a man (wow) I'm surprised she wasn't more known.
Evelyn beat the East German "Women" who it was revealed later on were using testosterone and inhancement drugs during their dominance in Women's track and field. Now THAT'S talent!!! I saw that race and I was in our family room screaming and jumping up and down!! I still get a big grin on my face watching this historic race. I will never get tired of watching these old school track stars.. This video will forever be my number one Olympic Women's 4x4 Relay.
Look at Silke Moller's (East German leadoff) wikipedia picture. She looks like a guy and has armpit hair.
Evelyn was a clean athlete making it even more impressive.
Wow imagine cheating and still losing to someone with no drugs or additives in their system 😂😂😂😂
I’ll read it in Kent Brockman’s voice every time.
The quote marks around the women will always slay me. 😂

Probably grew a pair of balls too. All those drugs the East German women were taking is the equivalent of a "trans" woman competition against biological women. Cheating is cheating. That's why Evelyn coming from behind to kick those East German Troglodyte asses is so freaking EPIC!!!
Evelyn Ashford - The Queen of the Sprint. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
just look at her( everyln Ashford) not only she ran a superb sprint but she was behind at 3rd place in anchor leg but ran like hell broke out beating the powerful East German to win .my God we all love you. tq for the memory.
I don't get tired of watching this race
I remember that race at 14 years old. I still get goose bumps watching this.
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD EVERYTHING ❤❤❤!!!
It is so great to see this again. We were stationed in Japan then, and saw all the Olympic events live instead of tape delayed. Wow, my sisters, y’all did the damn thing.
Evelyn Ashford, what a run! Love watching this amazing ladies team.
Race of the century! That run and baton handover by Alice brown was superb and out of this world! Then Evelyn sealed it with that phenomenal run-down of the east german to get the gold!!! What Amazons these ladies were!
I remember this race and Evelyn Ashford has always been my favorite... I used to run the 4x100 relay, I was the anchor also and seeing this just brings back good times... ALL of these ladies did their thing!!!!
Yes they did because the young lady that started wasn't playing either...
Evelyn was on a mission.....to GOLD!
No doubt one of the greatest races in Olympic history. Evelyn Ashford was a household name. Girlfriend had to dig DEEP to win that race. Not to mention that they had so much class back then.
Evelyn Ashford was the real deal here and overall! No question about her cleanliness and talent! Wow!
Just a question you said she's clean the cleanest... Implying that somebody else is tainted.. do you know Evelyn Ashford.. have you ever trained Evelyn Ashford.. were you married to Evelyn Ashley... How do you know this woman is clean.. I'm only asking a question..
@@sinsin1697 they meant clean as in technique doink
I love watching this. Evelyn Ashford smoked the anchor leg!
Evelyn Ashford, the strongest and longest-lived American sprinter of all time
I still get light-headed screaming at Evelyn!!! My favorite sprinter EVER!
Ashford! My favorite sprinter of ALL TIME!
Always loved watching Evelyn Ashford run. She damn near floated on the track.
The 1988 games in Seoul were the best ever. So many great moments including this race for sure.
OMGOSH this is my 1st time watching this. I can't believe how worked up I got 😅 very enjoyable watch 😊
Thank you for posting this ❤
An avid sports fan since 1950, this is like the most exciting performance I have seen. Evelyn just burned it--with flare and class and grace!
Evelyn Ashford, the first Sprinter whom I consider the Greatest.Alice Brown and Tianna Madison are the best first leg runners I have ever seen.
No one can touch Tianna Madison on that first leg!
Evelyn...best anchor period 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎯💯🗣️

Perfect passes and runs mission accomplished!!! Great job ladies!👍🏾💯👍🏾
Ashford is so underrated is track history
Seeing this and then seeing how women are dominating again in 2024 😢. Honestly amazing
I loved hearing the crowd cheer roar as Evelyn walked her down. That was a soothing moment for me. At that moment you could say, I'm proud to be an American.
Remember watching this almost 40 yrs ago, been a while since I have seen it again, never gets old
Pulled hammy at 1:39. The race gave me chills. Excellent ladies. Congrats
I Love This Race! it's one of the best relays and anchor leg I've ever seen! Although I was only 2 years old when this race actually took place! lol...
Alice Brown and Evelyn Ashford were the true keys to America's victory and gold medal. Nicely done ladies... U-S-A 😀
Good bumps, pride, and awe each time I watch this. Awesome stick passing…some of the best in the game!
Fantastic.. Evelyn Ashford ran the run of her life here.
Same with Yohan Blake in 2012 4x100 relay in London. Their adrenaline rush was to the max.
