      Michelle S. What are the measures to make the royal icing? I did with 1 white egg, 150gr of icing sugar and 1 tbsp of lemon juice, but it still seems to be very light consistence.

    Great idea to use a dehydrator, I have one. I currently have trays of freshly iced gingerbread house pieces drying all over the kitchen. WA heatwave & evap aircon makes drying take forever. I have just found your channel and LOVE IT!

    Hi there! Great video! I was curious... When you run out of icing while making a batch of cookies, do you refill your existing bag or do you just make a new bag?

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi docjean101 I think its only a matter of a personal preference, you can refill your existing bag if you have the exact same icing colour ready to use. However most of the time I can't mix an exact replicate of the colours everytime, so I make up a new bag if that is the case because if you refill the existing bag with the new icing with different colours it will come out in patches while you are using the icing.

    Hiii..♥ Can I know how long should I wait for second coating of icing once first one is done? Example for a face cookie, once I did the icing for the face, after how long shall I do the icing for hair or facial features?
    Also, after complete decorating, how long shall I wait to pack it in plastic?

    Hi there! Do you always have to use couplers? Or can I just use a bag with a tip? or maybe just the bag without a tip? thanks!

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi hun, you can use just a bag with a tip however if you need to use the same icing with a different tip you have to discard the bag and start over. I found using the coupler makes it really easy to change the piping tip if you need to do that. However if you only need to use the icing for one thing I would recommend using a Tipless piping bag (piping bag without a tip), if you see most of my video decorating tutorials you will see that i use tipless piping bag A LOT when i decorate cookies using my medium consistency icing 😉👍

    Hi dear may i know how long does it take to dry? And how long can we keep those decorated cookies at room temperature pls?TIA

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shareen, the time varies in between decorating process.if you are air-drying them in room temperature i would wait approx 6-7 hours, if possible leave them overnight to dry. And don't worry your cookies wont get stale because while you are waiting for the icing to dry during the decorating process, it will act as a protective layer on the cookie. Does that make sense, i hope it helps in some way....its very hard to explain here about the time it takes because they really varies depending on how big the section you are icing as well as what you are going to do on the following step of decorating. You'll get to know how long you need after doing a few cookies and keep practicing. Hope that helps

    Where do you find the templates for decorating the cookies I'm a lot of your videos you're laying down a little template and then scraping out the cookie where you want to decorate where are you finding those or are you just making them yourself how are you doing that

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brandy, I make the templates myself to make it easier to decorate and to teach other people to use it as guidelines too. I have all the templates as a digital download from my website: www.cookielicious.co.nz/templates.html

    Which is better the flood or using medium consistency in the whole cookie?

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi April, when i first started cookie decorating I found using 2 consistencies (outline & flood) easier at the beginning. However, nowadays I usually like to use one medium consistency to decorate most of my cookies, as it saves me so much time to just have to mix 1 icing colour in one consistency rather than preparing two different consistencies. This also depends on the cookie designs, sometimes I still need to use outline consistency icing to do detail work on the cookie, so if you need it you can add more icing sugar into your medium consistency icing to achieve the outline consistency.
      Just another tip for you, from my experience sometimes when you need to cover a large size cookie with icing, it is best to use outline consistency all around the cookie then fill it with a thinner consistency icing (flood consistency) so the icing wont start crusting on your cookie while you are still trying to ice it (before you get a chance to smooth it out with a scribe tool)....does that make sense? So i can easily change the consistency of my icing with either adding more icing sugar (if i need a stiffer icing for detail work) or adding a little bit of water if i need a thinner icing. I hope this explains it for you...let me know if its still confusing 😉

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rawan, if you use flood consistency to outline a cookie the icing will run over the sides/edges of your cookie as it will be too runny. The outline consistency is stiffer as it acts like a dam around the edges of your cookie so that it will prevent the flood icing to go over the sides. I hope that make sense?

    How to prevent royal icing from drying while inside the piping bag?

    • @CookieliciousNZ
      @CookieliciousNZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ramirez, you can put your piping bag with the tip inside a tall glass with damp tissue paper at the bottom of the glass, that should prevent the icing from crusting inside the piping tip. If you are using a tipless piping bag (without any piping tip) then fold the tip of your piping bag and put a bag clip on it, that will also prevent the icing from crusting on the tip of your bag 🙂
