We just painted our home last week! I really stressed about the color, but finally settled on SW Blustery Sky with Tricorn Black for the shutters and Extra White for the trim. Our doors are a bright red, ( but not too bright), and painted previously, before the rest of the home. I liked the red so much with Blustery Sky, I kept them the same color! We Love It!!❤️😊
This is the most underrated channel in YT I mean its supper informative , great host with good since of humor yet get right to the point.. I live at almost the opposite side of the world but I want to support them by paying for consultations ..
Really appreciate your support. Thanks for the comment! We are starting up some online 'design guide' services in the coming months, so stay tuned for that!
@@thepaintpeople I dm in instagram thinking there was online service 😔 can I at least ask here .. I have two big living rooms with direct sunlight .. I want to paint one with warm color and the other one with cool color .. Im not sure how to transact between the two what do I paint the connecting stairs area which is by itself is big with good lighting ? I wish you’d consider covering this topic
I keep watching your videos and I have to say, I really love your channel. So fun, so informative. The world of colors... wow! There's a universe out there.
I'm so glad I found your channel! I was about to have my house painted Austere Gray and had already put an order in when I realized it looks mint out in the sun! I found this video and went with Rare Gray which is exactly the look I was going for. The trim in Greek Villa, and the front door in Blackberry, which actually looks more like cherry black on the swatch so hope it turns out that way. Keeping the shutters black, and the new roof is oyster. I'm very excited and would have made some major mistakes if I hadn't found your channel. Thanks a million!!
I liked the format you used for the Benjamin Moore exterior color combinations. You gave the body, trim and accent colors and then showed them on a house. That was very helpful.
Rare gray! I think that’s what I should have chosen for our front door for our brick north facing house. I chose wolf gray, which turned out to be blue.
Have been going through deciding paint choices for exterior of the house and chose a Sherwin Williams color. Finally settled on one and began painting today. Our new shingle roof has a blue tone so it more or less dictated that we did not go with a greige. None of those seemed to work at all. House is north facing. Now it will be deciding on the accent color. Sigh! It is so difficult. These videos have helped! Thank you.
I just painted my front door with Sherwin Williams Snap Dry! The colour is amazing. My fun colour was Roycroft Bottle Green. It is so pretty. Now I need to paint the door trim a white colour. Thank you so much for the info! Cheers from Vancouver Island, Canada.
Hi James, thank you for this video, these are fabulous choices. I have couple questions - My house has is an older house that we are trying to make look modern. The exterior textures are knockdown stucco (45%), shingles (20%), red brick chimney (15%) , garage door (15%) and white window trims (5%) + the trims and gutters that are usual. 1. Do you think a Gray with white trims and garage door would go with red bricks? 2. What could we replace the shingles with to make it look modern? Thanks!
Hi, what color door would you recommend for a house painted 50%sw witching hour & 50%sw soot with white trim/windows and some white siding. There is a white siding peak just above the front door. I have some hickory privacy fencing in the back that is visible. I like bm wyth but now wondering if meadowlark would look nice. The door is brand new & white primer. I’m selling it soon. I’m so glad to have found your channel! 😊
We have a red orange brick home with areas of wood siding and trim and white vinyl windows. We are thinking of going Sherwin Williams Salty Dog for the trim, but can't pick a white to go with it. Thoughts?
Help! I need to pick out new shingles for my roof. And can't decide what matches my weird gray siding with drab "pea" green shutters (I hate that green) but anyhow... How can I tell if my gray siding is brown or blue based? If it helps it's a late 90's double-wide..so whatever was the popular scheme then... I really don't want just plain black shingle.
Thank you this is awesome. There are so few TH-cam videos on exterior paint, this is just perfect. I'm just wondering if you feel that given that the colour palettes for the next decade are probably going to stay warm, is it a good idea to pick a warm undertone exterior paint so that house doesn't date in a few years?
I always feel warmer colour palettes are more user friendly outside just based on its interaction with direct sunlight. Anything remotely cool will feel even colder when exposed to direct sunlight which could be a bit polarizing.
Can you suggest a brown color for exterior trim? One that doesn't have too much purple or red hue to it, but more muddled ( if that's a description ha). The deep colors are great but hard to find one that doesn't look like a "brownie". 🤔 Edit: (For Sherwin Williams) Please 🙏
On the house with the color combos tavern, taupe and minimalist the photo with the dark colored bricks on it. I noticed it had a darker color on the trim around the front door. Do you know what color that is?
YAY!!! I just painted my house and trim Ivory Lace with Black Panther front door and black gutters and I love it.... another trim that goes good with Ivory lace is urbane bronze, and guess what my neighbor painted their house some god ugly turquoise green and everyone else on the street has greys, they obivously didn't care about their neighbors...errrrr so bad!
Another great video, James. 👍🏼 Thank you!! Any ideas for a “white” exterior paint color? We are thinking of painted brick (this is a new build). Thank you for your expert advice!!!
My recently purchased home has a creamy white weathered brick with small flecks of red-orange and gray mortar. The shutters and front door are black, which I think looks too harsh. I'd like to paint the shutters the same color as the grout with a pop of color on the door. I'm leaning toward a vibrant, rich green. The garage door and windows' trim (aluminum) is a beige. I plan to have the windows replaced this year, but I don't know if that involves changing out the trim. Can those surfaces be painted? What type of paint?
Florida stucco, and I want a gray that is not Repose gray because many other homes in the area have the same color. I also have driftwood color shingled roof. Any suggestions would be truly appreciated. Have a wonderful day.
You gotta think about your neighbors as well. Indeed. I used Mediterranean inside once for an accent wall. It's fun to see a color I've used called out. I'm doing the exterior next month. I have a 80 year old craftsman house - going traditional - Roycroft Suede body, Wool Skein trim, Mannix Bronze window and door trim.
Wait! What! Aren't you my fragrance guy?! Is this a glitch in the Matrix? Am I having a stroke? What's that smell? Is this Heaven? How did I die? HELP!
We just had our house stuccoed with Your Web Gray and we’re thinking about outlining our windows with a lighter gray or lighter color do you have any suggestions?
Hi Carrie, have you looked at Gray Screen, Repose Gray or Site White? For something a little warmer, you can look something like a Dover White, which might contrast a little more.
Nope. Boring colors. I'm going to be the neighborhood witch house. Painting the body of the house deep violet (tending more towards red than blue) with teal accents. Let's go BRIGHT!
Sorry but F the neighbors, be authentic lol. I love neon colors. Totally would do exterior and interior neon pinks, yellows and blues. Like stage or theater paint.
Thinking about the roof color matters also samples samples samples so you can look at the colors different times of the day. Thanks for the video

Great lineup. Wish you'd covered a yellow-white-blue combo too!!! Next time? Love your content...I'm learning SO much.
I think the roof color and texture also matters when choosing colors for exterior
Just had my home painted haystack yellow , white trim, extra white
Rare gray! I think that’s what I should have chosen for our front door for our brick north facing house. I chose wolf gray, which turned out to be blue.
Thanks for the suggestion. Sold by Ivory Lace for body and we pair it with Urban Bronze for trim.

Way to go the paint people!!! Good vibes!!
HOA rejected my Salty Dog 🙄. But we used it for trim and wainscoting inside so awesome but needed many coats to cover.

We love Salty Dog! My daughter has an accent wall in her living room and I have a niche in my living room.

Sure!
Ooo and in this potential video, would you do a combo where the trim is a darker shade than the exterior (ideally a charcoal)?
I painted my bathroom Salty Dog!! Love it!!
We have a red orange brick home with areas of wood siding and trim and white vinyl windows. We are thinking of going Sherwin Williams Salty Dog for the trim, but can't pick a white to go with it. Thoughts?
What colour would you recommend for out door brick with black doors and windows
I love it.
Great video! Very at the beginning What’s the first house color?

I live for Swiss Coffee outside!
Thank you!! I love Swiss Coffee. It won’t be too yellow will it? We will have black windows and probably a black painted door (not sure on that yet).

Here you go!
I just painted my house the color stream thinking it had a gray undertone but its baby blue. Should I do dark blue or dark grey trim? Help
How do you feel about Salty Dog as the house body color with the Extra White trim?
Hi what color do you recommend for black accent front door and garage door - and what sheen? Thank you so much
Hi Cristina, what color is the house itself and how much light do you get?
What about almost black house paint with black trim?
Which are the colors used In 2:39? They look a bit different then the ones u mentioned
So tell me he's saying to use Rare Gray with Salty Dog on the door?.?

I went to get minimalist and Lowe's told me they only have minamalist grey, is that the same one?
Hi Angela, unfortunately no. Minimalist grey is a lot darker with an LRV of around 20.
But some of us like blue grays!!
Nothing wrong with that! We like what we like!
We just resided our house in pale yellow. There are so many gray houses in town it looks like someone died.
Soooo upsetting! 🤣

The Sherwin-Williams website doesn't know a color called minimalist. Do you have a code for it?

Lost grateful Dead song, Touch of Taupe.
I hate red, turquoise, eggplant, yellow, and navy blue doors, lol.
LOL, if my neighbor are paying they can have input, otherwise they can buzz off.
hahaha! Haven't heard buzz off in a while lol
Why am I looking at this guy's face more than actual examples of colors on houses?
I know! He hasn't even mentioned the fragrance notes!
I'm still lost.

Can i send you a picture of my house?
My fragance guru what are you doing here... 🤔
Wow, the HOA approves, pretty boring
The telling motorboat specifically ski because apartment histomorphometrically pine within a domineering rocket. arrogant, debonair locket
Taupe = low end corporate.
These color combinations don't resonate with me at all.
We like what we like 👍

What a waste of video with the 2 browns 🙄 😒
Talk too much
Boring!
This guy talks to much uuuuughhh
I’ll try my next video in sign language… unsure how it’ll go. 😜
I want to see the house not you. Nothing personal but I came her to see different colors together and all I saw was your beard and glasses!!
