Deputy Raylan Givens has his own, Wild West-style methods of upholding justice, putting him at odds with the criminals he hunts and with his bosses in the U.S. Marshals Service. And an incident prompts his reassignment to the Kentucky district where he grew up. The character is based on one created by author Elmore Leonard in several books and short stories.

His delivery of "can't I just have a couple gallons" always cracks me up.

Raylan's gun skills are definitely a feather in his cap, but his acuity in reading ppl and silver tongue were, by far, the most potent tools in his box
I know there are some wonderful lines just in this 5-minute clip, but "Hey, slow...slow," the way Olyphant delivers the line, is a humdinger.

I love so much that part of the reason Raylan doesn't shoot him, is because he doesn't want to deal with the paperwork. I laughed so hard the first time I saw this.

I think Raylan played this one extra cool because Loretta was potentially in the crosshairs. Plus, there are countless examples of Raylan choosing to talk bad dudes down rather than shoot it out with them

Well, then he wouldn't have gotten to deliver his tutorial on firearm safety.
Also, (a) paperwork and (b) homeboy mighta got spooked and pulled the trigger, g-d knows what he mighta hit. I mean, there's a lot more gas in that pump than what's on doofus' clothes... and if he hits the car, the girl's in there...
Nope. This way no shots get fired, no fire gets started, everybody lives, even mister asshole. I mean, I know Raylan's known for a body count, but this isn't a Tarantino flick. Every once in a while a scene ends with no cordite in the air.

Well, Raylan had already demonstrated his ability to plug a guy who was running from him. Yes, paperwork, but if I had a desperate guy with a gun facing me, that would be the least of my concerns. Then again, I don't have Raylan's ability to remain cool in such circumstances.

Geez, how dumb: partner takes a position where the target is exactly between her and Raylan. She shoots and who gets the rounds? They are only interested in camera shot, not reality of such things.
Not a direct line. Raylan is slightly to the side. Moreover, he's sitting, and his partner is shorter than Jimmy so she'd be shooting upwards.
@@danieldickson8591 it's even better than that - Raylan **was** in the line of the shot, so he moved explicitly to give his partner a clear shot, at the same time keeping the attention on him so she could approach, **and** putting himself inbetween the Perp and the Hostage.
