I think a lot of people missed the point of this conversation. Of course others opinions do matter, if they are congruent with how you feel about them and how you feel about your life. But so many people never do the things they want only based on others’ opinions. Take the pearl of wisdom from this conversation, you know what it is.

People who say they HAVE TO do something don't really have to do it, they're just stressing out about the consequences.
You don't even HAVE TO continue breathing, you're just worried about dying.

    • @stvbrsn
      @stvbrsn ปีที่แล้ว

That’s not a great example, as breathing straddles the line.
You can certainly consciously decide to not breath… but you will not die as a result. As soon as you fall unconscious (if you can even achieve that) your involuntary breathing with begin again.
Breathing straddles the line between voluntary and involuntary. The line between conscious action and unconscious action.

Humans are herd animals, we outsource our decision-making by looking at what others do.
This prevents us from making errors (he is eating an Apple and looks happy, maybe I will try an Apple). This behavior occurs in a conscious and subconscious planes (why does having sex with your sister seem so repulsive?)
When you do something new or unusual, the group will instantly reject it because it interrupts and challenges their group consciousness.
True heroes go into the unknown and bring back something new and beneficial for the group.
True heroes are brave enough, and are to be admired.

The most important thing to me in this video is the more you begin to think a certain way the more it becomes the default mode. If you’re not creative, and you try to be creative and you practice and you just do things that are creative you become better at it. If you’re not a runner and your muscles aren’t used to running, but you run a little every day you become better at it the same thing with your brain. The more you tune out what others are saying the more it becomes the default.

Years ago with nothing to loose I took a different path. I’m immensely grateful at 61 years old looking back on the incredible direction my life has taken. When we develop our lives along inspirational lines we believe in and take the road less traveled we can be thoroughly alive. Ups and down are just that Life! But see what else happens on this path and you will become amazed and grateful beyond dreams
Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering its a feather bed.”

If there's ever been a good point for why getting over the one first hard one is so hard, is that it will then give you the reinforcement that you can do whatever you need to do next.

Like assuming that “the majority of people” are living lives that are unsuccessful.
Lulz… you have to have a Low standard of judgement for other people to assume, and then announce this judgement.
Maybe they’re not what others would want, but maybe most people live a life they can often enjoy.
Not too mention the fact that never, in history except NOW, have been so needy as to think they are cool because they can push themselves to endeavor into a lifestyle that may be different from their rearing.

I don't think that "zooming out until you can't see the earth" is a useful image for most scenarios. I get the zooming out part, but i think the important focus is learning discernment in the moment about how much to zoom in our out. And there's no short cut for that. You need to know your own capacities and priorities well, which are constantly in flux, and also see that a lot of stuff in this world is fucked and so things arent going to go how there's "supposed" to go a lot of the time. And it goes on and on like that, relentlessly. Lol. I'm speaking from the perspective of a midlife crisis, obviously.
