“Building massive, unaffordable EV’s at a loss that 99% of EV buyers don’t want and only 1% can afford.” This will be the first chapter at a business school analyzing what doomed GM and why the went out of business.
Would believe there was a time when only well to do people could afford a TV? Today even poor people own more than one. Ever hear of trickle down? Everything new starts off unaffordable to the working-class until it reaches mass production. That said, there already are some very affordable EV for sale like the Chevy Bolt, and even Tesla just has a massive price drop.
I never liked the EQS but this Escalade further solidifies that. The EQS is downright hideous. I’m tryna see how I’m gonna cop this Escalade right quick tho. 😅
The one thing I am mainly concerned about the EV market is the large vehicles like this using insanely big batteries. Even though this will be presented in a more limited market, 3 Chevy Bolts could have been made with one battery out of this.
"he EV market is the large vehicles like this using insanely big batteries" It's better than the insanely big amount of CO2 and other pollution that an ICE pumps into the air. Plus the batteries can be and are recycled. And no, the lithium isn't made by child labor. The two main sources of lithium for electric cars in the USA are going to be the Salton Sea Geothermal Field in California and various places in Nevada. This gets roughly the same range as the gas version btw. 528 for gas, 450 for battery.
The best part about middle row captain's chairs is the ease of walking between them to get to the third row... but in this car there's a center console!? Can't stand the dashboard either. Is there even a glovebox? Yuck.
The only fully size SUV worth buying right now in my opinion is the Grand Wagoneer. The Escalade EV has the seating capacity of a much smaller ev and that third-row likes like the back of a cop car in terms of space. Defeats the purpose of building such as large vehicle.
Oh, stop it. I agree the GW has the best 3rd row of any full-sized SUV currently on the market, but the Escalade is far from cramped. It comes in as an acceptable second. That's the ICE GW btw, I haven't seen an EV version of that SUV introduced yet.
Price high and produce less to target a better margin vector 🤔. After a couple years Lucid is losing over $500k pet unit sold. I hate to hear what the losses will be on this and the Celestiq.

If you have one in California it would become the law it has to be plugged into the grid during brownouts, that you becoming a spare battery for the Township.
In typical Cadillac/GM fashion let’s see how much crap we can install in this beast to price out out of all but a few people. I can’t wait to see all the electrical gremlins that will pop up with this one..40 speakers?? WTF?
Just 3 days ago I test drove a Platinum sport. The place that is selling it does vehicle conversions and they buy these Escalades from auctions. This particular one is used and has 1300 miles, so basically new. They put 24 inch wheels on it. They don't look good ( my personal opinion ) and they ride terrible. You feel every single imperfection on the road. I imagine these will give you the same type of ride, but if you like that sort of thing I guess you'll be riding in style, maybe not so much comfort. It looks beautiful, but I would be concerned about charging it. Recently a couple took their Hummer ( electric ) on a road trip. They weren't going too far from their home but they could not find chargers that worked. Eventually they had to have it towed and they had to stay overnight in a hotel. Until the whole deal with chargers for all EVs gets populated I would not buy one. I'll stick with the current Escalade for now.
@@TFLnowhe thinks you all are shilling for GM. Must not watch your videos since you do this for a ton of trucks. Probably thinks everything he disagrees with is a conspiracy.
The biggest question is if they are only going to actually build these in any significant numbers? Or is it going to be just a few hundred of these in the first year?
I think the hummer has been out since 2021 and only 8300 “produced”, but no one knows how many have been delivered because a significant % are sitting on GM factory lots waiting for specific parts. For example in Q1-2023, they sold 2 hummers lol. Seriously doubt that the new Escalade production will do much better.
Well, this is a great vehicle for those earning in the top 1% (20-24 $150k, 25-29 $200k, 30-34 $250k, 35-39 $400k) and perhaps even those in the top 10% in their 30's (30-39 $145-$185k). However, that's a stretch at $150k income, this is not the vehicle for the common man/woman - and after all it probably shouldn't be, it's a Cadillac after all.
Well it certainly has showroom appeal with its striking design and all the screens. However, I'm not liking the elimination of hard buttons and the all-glass roof that doesn't open nor change opacity. Those are big misses in my opinion.
A design feature I absolutely will not support no matter how much I like the car. The idea that I'd need to pull over to access simple controls does not appeal to me, and manufactures need to get that through their cost cutting heads.
Cadillac needs to dramatically increase the price of all its models. No Cadillac should be less than 250k. My grandparents lament that Cadillac is so cheap because “no poor person should have a Cadillac”.
IMO it kills the MB and BMW smaller SUVs, which are closer to the Lyriq than to this beast. One exciting announcement is the availability of UltraCruise. This feature is already trickling down to lower model vehicles, suggesting that in a few years vehicles like the Equinox will offer it, at least as an option.
Finally getting close to the full size EV SUV that we want.... but I am still disappointed in the rear cargo space. Looks like GM cut off around 10 inches. And no, the frunk does not make up for that space, it's a weird shape that is not helpful.

Since they don't break down their EV margins, we'll never know 🤷🏽♂️
@bugguy1967 very true. We can guess they ain't pretty.
THIS IS THE EV I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
Taketh my Monies. All I ask is 400 Miles of Range.
You got it. Up to 450 miles of range!
@@00_UU I'm No. 1 on the list of my local Dealer lol 😂 Yes, I think I got it. Im5mad happy
I hate EVs but this..... Incredible. The V is my dream but now this would be unbelievable.
I'm buying this vehicle for sure for Uber and private rides. It'll be a killer!!! It needs to have Apple carplay integrated.
Three words: pimp my ride. When did cars become light shows.
What an incredible video!! You knocked this completely out of the park! This is an incredible vehicle and the screens… 😮
Keep up the incredible work!!👍
Incredible. Incredible. Incredible.
Govt: CAN'T DRIVE WITH PHONE IN HAND
Escalade: HOLD MY BEER
Cadillac nailed it!
If you have one in California it would become the law it has to be plugged into the grid during brownouts, that you becoming a spare battery for the Township.
We needed another $100K + luxury EV. Thank God we 1%ers have another option.
What a beautiful Suv. Shame most people will never be able to afford one.
Brah adding a million screen in the interior is not it.
I rather retire than own this car..
In typical Cadillac/GM fashion let’s see how much crap we can install in this beast to price out out of all but a few people. I can’t wait to see all the electrical gremlins that will pop up with this one..40 speakers?? WTF?
It's as long as the ESV, with a 30" legroom 3rd row?
How many will they make and how much over MSRP will it cost.
Great video mate
Thank you for watching!
🤔...rocking the playboy music 🎶
It should be named the Escaliq
Or Pissgoldique😂
Finally, an esclade that doesn't sound like an airplane engine🙏
Wow…GM took TFL over on this one!
Huh? What do you mean?
@@TFLnowhe thinks you all are shilling for GM. Must not watch your videos since you do this for a ton of trucks. Probably thinks everything he disagrees with is a conspiracy.
Andrey calling this skateboard architecture EV a "truck" is gold. Can't wait til he gets his hands on the Cybertruck
If any of those fancy lights need replaced and it is not under warranty it will cost a king's ransom to replace!
Wow. Crazy..2025' models already..
This is way cooler than Lyriq. And I love this beast rather than Mercedes-Benz EQS
How does it do in cold weather? I’ve seen recently the teslas got stranded in the cold weather. Batteries died out
Great intro to an awsome car.
Another 4+ ton vehicle.
I like it!
Can't wait to rent this at Enterprise Exotics
Just another EV from GM aimed at the top 0.0001% And they can't ship it yet! I'm not impressed.
The biggest question is if they are only going to actually build these in any significant numbers? Or is it going to be just a few hundred of these in the first year?
They are not capable
I think the hummer has been out since 2021 and only 8300 “produced”, but no one knows how many have been delivered because a significant % are sitting on GM factory lots waiting for specific parts. For example in Q1-2023, they sold 2 hummers lol. Seriously doubt that the new Escalade production will do much better.
Finally a EV FULL size suv!!!!
Give me a second row bench
Was hopping to afford an Escalade V in 5-6 years and now it feels like I have to wait for this one. Too much money
I would like a few buttons or knobs for the stuff we use a lot like ac. Also a cover for the sunroof.
Looks great an I live in the UK so it's a bit big lol
Add to my collection
Well, this is a great vehicle for those earning in the top 1% (20-24 $150k, 25-29 $200k, 30-34 $250k, 35-39 $400k) and perhaps even those in the top 10% in their 30's (30-39 $145-$185k). However, that's a stretch at $150k income, this is not the vehicle for the common man/woman - and after all it probably shouldn't be, it's a Cadillac after all.
I would move in and live in this.
Cadillac is destroying the competition 🎉
I hope someone in heaven tells Jack Rickard of EVTV that GM finally built the TesCalade for him. 😂 RIP Jack ❤
Oh boy,I'm thrilled 😕😕😕
Well it certainly has showroom appeal with its striking design and all the screens. However, I'm not liking the elimination of hard buttons and the all-glass roof that doesn't open nor change opacity. Those are big misses in my opinion.
A design feature I absolutely will not support no matter how much I like the car. The idea that I'd need to pull over to access simple controls does not appeal to me, and manufactures need to get that through their cost cutting heads.
Vehicle to home - how much power?
Cadillac needs to dramatically increase the price of all its models. No Cadillac should be less than 250k. My grandparents lament that Cadillac is so cheap because “no poor person should have a Cadillac”.
It's small - its not an Escalade. We still need a true 7 passenger EV. I was excited until I opened it and realized its an Escalade in name only.
Nice ride❤❤
IMO it kills the MB and BMW smaller SUVs, which are closer to the Lyriq than to this beast. One exciting announcement is the availability of UltraCruise. This feature is already trickling down to lower model vehicles, suggesting that in a few years vehicles like the Equinox will offer it, at least as an option.
Except no American SUV can handle like the Germans. None even come close. However, they do have the advantage on room
I guess I’m going to have to list my house for sale and rent a 1bd in order to afford this. But it’ll be great. Ramen 7 days a week here I come.
Finally getting close to the full size EV SUV that we want.... but I am still disappointed in the rear cargo space. Looks like GM cut off around 10 inches. And no, the frunk does not make up for that space, it's a weird shape that is not helpful.
The wood trim lights up?
Yep!
5:58 is where they start talking range, etc.
This suv should go 800miles before charging and 10 years unlimited miles battery warranty than I would buy
