It's funny that this game is featured today...just a few days ago, I watched a few games by Rubinstein on chessgames after your Rubinstein-Lasker aired and this was one of them! :-) Good game and good decision by you to show it.
Gosh. I love Rubenstein like I love neiman. They try to shut us/them down with poverty/slander/censorship. But indomitable spirit never dies. Alekhine was a wizard for sure. Also thanks mato I watch your videos over and again more than anything on TH-cam. My favorite game ever is Schlecter vs steinitz
I think Alekhine was only 19 here. Bobby Fischer wrote of Alekhine "In his twenties, he was an atrocious chessplayer, and didn’t mature until he was well into his thirties."
Boom, another Rubinstein game. The 1912 year was called "Rubinstein's Year", he won 5 big chess tournaments and should play Lasker for the world champion title. Never happened :(
I. A. Horowitz wrote that Lasker filled his schedule with matches against weaker players, including Janowski and Marshall, in part to avoid having to play a championship match with Rubinstein. Otherwise Rubinstein would have had a good chance to win the title, as he was at the peak of his powers.
GREAT game . Thx Mato...Alekhine was only 20 at this time, no where near his peak, while RUBINSTEIN was at his peak winning I believe 5 super tournaments in a row that year... Lasker , the world champion, wouldn't give him a match and avoided playing him then world war 1 happened.... of course lifetime Rubenstein has a minus score vs Alekhine....RUBINSTEIN at his peak was a very dangerous player and famous for his handling of Rook. Endgames....he has a famous win vs Lasker in Rook endings in 1909 if my memory serves me correctly....Thx Again great teacher Mato
Alekhine: "whats up chess people? my hands are warmed up!!! who is ready to lose?" Rubenstein: "whats going on everyone? who do I play next?" Alekhine: "aw crap Rubenstein aka The Problem is here....ugh"
When I started studying chess, I bought the two books of Alekhine’s games. Playing through the games I thought that Alekhine could never be beaten. I had no idea there were games like this one.
When I was a junior I had a Capablanca book and I thought the same about him. Authors of these books show only the winning games of our heros. That is normal.
Thomas Kember that not make great Alexander Alekhien normal!!!! He was the greatest ... I saw one game resigned after 8 or 9 move just ... that happened but this is few time .. day off ... maybe... but he the greatest.. he was only champ dead as a world chess champion.. but no one like that Lasker- Casablanca- max ewey- botvinik- sky’s love- Tal-betrosian- Spassky- Fisher- carpools-Kasparov- and all
MatoJelic in San Petersburg Alekhine beat him in 28 move and in The Hague beat him checkmating and all match between both Alekhine beat him 8/4 and no players beat Akiba like Alekhine
They facing many but Alekhien beat Rubenstien 8 time .... Rubenstien beat Alekhien 4 time ....no body beat Rubenstien as Alekhien..... great Alexander Alekhien
One of the best examples I've seen of piece coordination in a long time. Thank you for sharing.

Remarkable game. I liked particulary fxg6!! What a positional understanding !
I've never seen Alekhine so thoroughly demolished.
Me 2 bur to be fair Alekhine in 1912 wasnt even close to his prime
Rubinstein - genius!
Should have been world chess champion - if not for Lasker’s shenanigans...
Nice video, thanks Mato!

What a game!! Rubinstein is a monster.
Did you pause what did you find.. my favorite phrase 😃😃
what a lesson.. nice material mato :)
well done thank you
5:48 at the guess move I thought he would play bishop f4. I dont know if that line is winning too :)
It is amazing how Rubenstein makes all of this seem "natural."
Nice game!

Alekhine was outgunned
Rubinstein at his peak was incredibly strong.
Answer to the Q: Who beat Immanuel Lasker, Capablanca, & Alekhine the 1st time he played each of them?

@@fporretto And then WWI occurred.
@@danielgautreau161 Yeah, that was something of a bump in the road. (:-)
Mato, please comment on the "counterplay" aspects of this game.
Good game, very istructive.

@@MatoJelic True. Later Fischer was prepared to show some of his losing games but they were fabulous games nonetheless.

Alexander Alekhine was 19-years old when this game was played.
Alekhine is my favourite player to watch
Yes he was the best ... ever... I suggesting read his book ( my best game) from Alekhien it is have impossible games from the great Alexander Alekien
Masterpiece
Awsome
A great game and a shame Rubinstein never got a shot at the world championship.
True.
I agree. Alekhine's jaw must have dropped on RxNf3.
good mato
Akiba wasn't messing around...
Beating Alekhine is not an easy task .
VITA kyo That’s an understatement
@@jimgag2 For sure.
Alekhine was only 20 at that time and no where near his peak of 1927 -1935
Didn't see that one is coming
Alekhine didn't think RxN was a threat. Neither did I.
Alekhine love to play in complex position. But in this game he don't play like him self.
Ah 1912, that's the year after 1911.
Correct. And right before 1913, thank goodness. That would have been a disaster.
They facing many but Alekhien beat Rubenstien 8 time .... Rubenstien beat Alekhien 4 time ....no body beat Rubenstien as Alekhien..... great Alexander Alekhien
Rubinstein strongest player never to have been world champion, best end game player ever for me.
An Alekhine loss is special!!!
