      0311 grunt usmc. This gun is worthy of the respect its due as weaponry, i must say airguns are the fun Guns. I have no desire to shoot a m16 but yet i shoot the maurauder daily. im looking at big bore for next year as its legal for deer (big game) season here. When useing other weaponry i have a much different attitude and higher degree of focused intensity. Airguns just have a different feel for me personally, the nature of the rifle itself is different. Its not training or improvement upon professionalism. Its just fun.

    Hunting with that thing is like slinging a soup can at your target! I took a look at the price and at $1,900.00, it is really worth the dollars if it has the potential to fill the freezer in one shot. Those penetration examples are absolutely sobering! Now put some ice on that shoulder and get to filming the next one, lol.
    Another excellent presentation that I willingly devoted 20 minutes of my life to. Now to make some pop-corn and watch this a couple more times ;) You are without a doubt one of the, if not the best in class when it comes to producing high-quality video content Steve. I hope you never get tired of hearing it because it just feels wrong not to applaud every time, it's that good!

      Oh really? Thanks for the useful information.......

    • @Hesam0000
      @Hesam0000 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Can you use that Weatherby within city limits, near city limits or closer than 1000 yards to a residence? Well, you can but you'll get arrested. This gun on the other hand is always an air-gun and technically not a firearm. It's much quieter than a Centerfire and can be used in farms and near city limits as long as you're careful.

    • @dougking5703
      @dougking5703 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hesam0000 what you say is true but the cost is startling. In addition to the gun itself there's also the cost of a charging system. I find it difficult to justify but that's me. By all means if you want it can justify it get it

    Yeah man at 100-200 yards that thing would be hitting like an old school 45-70 that the buffalo hunters where using out at 600 yards so it will get the job done its all about shot placement and straight line penetration.

    Wow! That is some air rifle. 600 ft lbs of energy. Yet this isn't classed as a firearm in USA because no powder is being burned. Here in the UK 12 ft lbs is the limit for non FAC airguns which really are just toys (relatively speaking) when compared to this monster. Thumbs up from me and many thanks for sharing and showing the awesome power of these modern airguns.

    The Texan has the refill fitting at the REAR/SIDE! That allows you to A) keep the tank connected for continuous shots, or B) refill without getting up!
    Having the refill port at the front was an oversight IMHO

    Another solid review, Steve! This gun makes the shot taken by someone on The High Road, to be the "stunt" that it was. This rifle, in the hands of a capable marksman, will make clean, ethical kills on large game animals. The accuracy potential of this one is unbelievable!

    Hello again Steve. As always, great performance review! I wanted to see this especially after I saw Giles shoot this at AOA. That poor Brit was scared of it. LOL! The penetration test was most impressive, and you're a good shot with that beast. Shooting big bores that large are harder to control. Your shots were GREAT! If that was a heart shot at 100 yards, the deer would be dead. Great job and keep up the excellent reviews. I'm saving up to buy one of these.

      They definitely have I was into air rifles since I was young and amassed a pretty good collection of quality break barrels now I just got back into it but I bought a pre-charged Pneumatic hatsan flash in.22 Midway usa had them on sale for $279 this thing shoots better than a Ruger 10/22 Target Model that I dumped a lot of money into, it's really impressive and like you said I cannot believe how far they have come in the technology side of it in even the last 20 years, I've been using it to drop the squirrel population at a local Farm 50 yd head shots are no problem at all and definitely one shot kills shooting slugs

    We've come a long way from my 4.5mm Diana back in 1972 to today's 600+ ft-lbs bigbore. I would've been the king of mountains if I had one of these back then. Personally I prefer this over Texan. I don't like pistol handle style of AF.

    • @wildrangeringreen
      @wildrangeringreen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would hope in 250 years we could improve airguns a little lol, Girandoni's air rifle of a diminutive .50 shooting a round ball was doing around 217 ft.lbs. in 1779... on a 700-800 psi fill... with borderline-medieval mfg technology and understanding of ballistics/physics.
      I always laugh when modern companies beat their chest about how "powerful" their guns are... it's like a modern firearm company boasting about how their target rifles are more accurate than matchlock muskets lol

    What a beautiful gun. Thanks for your hard work and professionalism in your reviews. This looks like a monster Crosman Maximus. Not to rain on the parade, but these big bores seem to defeat the purpose of airguns (IMHO). I am actually headed the other way. Steve's review of the Crosman Maximus Euro prompted me to buy one. Lots of trigger time, backyard worthy and economical to shoot. I do appreciate that you review all types of airguns and not just the most expensive, most powerful; not everyone can afford a $2000 airgun. But for those who do this seems like a winner.

    I’m new to these air gun videos. I am quite experienced with firearms. I have developed proprietary long range cartridges and rifles able to deliver much more than terminal velocities at one mile. Having said that, this rifle performs somewhat like a black powder big bore rifle. They killed everything in North America very proficiently, accept the bears. A lesson from history. Lewis and Clark were warned about the Grizzlies by Natives along the Missouri River. The first big Grizz they can upon was downed by one shot from the, I believe, 50 cal. Rifles they took, along with one or two very powerful air rifles. That left them overconfident, because the second Grizz they came across on the river was agitated and required 12 shots, from those same rifles, to put him down. Bears are very much a dangerous game animal. Please exercise good judgement.

    I saw a very interesting article about commercial aircraft speed versus power requirement. Basically, up to 610 mph (approx 895 fps) the power demand rises steadily but after that the power curve rises steeply until just over supersonic and then falls steadily to about 890 mph (approx 1305 fps). I thought the implications of pellet speed were interesting.

    • @AEAC
      @AEAC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting. One thing I noticed was how much faster a 470 grain slug traveling at 770 fps gets to a 100 yard target when compared to an 18 grain pellet traveling the same distance at the same speed. The heaver slug must maintain its velocity MUCH better.

    How would it work with round balls and Polly patches. How about two round balls? I bet the velocity of the round balls would really be high, Try it! A 45 cal round ball weighs about 135 grains or so and they are a snap to cast. Another good one to try would be the 45 hollow base slugs they made for cap and ball revolvers. the high velocity would really flatten out trajectory and remember that energy is mass times velocity squared. Does this rifle have freebore? I notice that it does not take much effort to close the bolt so you are not breach seating the slug. would accuracy improve if you did? Maybe a tapered slug to engage rifling with nose on lands to improve concentricity?

    I like when you get done with the review, the gun is given away as a prize. Surely the company that is having you review the gun, has a budget for advertising. I'm pretty sure that the loss is a tax deduction for advertising.

    Great looking stock on that rifle. Love the checkering. Kinda been waiting on you to shoot a big bore. Your giggle and smiles where just what I knew would happen when you did.....lol! The more you shoot big bores, the harder it will be for you to then pick up tiny 177's and 22 pellets....lol
    Good stuff Steve

    You should try to do some reviews on the American Air Arms Slayers, .357, and the .457. Ugly rifles but they were ringing the bell at 550 yards with the .457. Your reviews are the benchmark. Thank you.

    Steve I know that you may have quite a few videos that have been suggested...and so I would like to see this one compared to the Airforce Texan in .45 also plus I would like to know where this gun gets the power from a and where the Texan doesn't...

    • @AEAC
      @AEAC  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter Kroeker I feel ya. I've asked for a Teaxan more than once but haven't seen it yet. As for why the Bushbuck makes more power, just guessing here but maybe more air & more barrel = more power. Best, Steve

    • @peterkroeker753
      @peterkroeker753 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the texan shoots 405 grain at 750 fps which pyramid air claims is good for 505 fpe and the numbers you post are very similar except for energy...this is why I was confused.... but watching again I saw you shoot a much heavier pellet at an even faster speed. so I went back and watched again and saw higher psi and put it together thanks for the reply
