'do you know any classical pieces?'
'on the viola?'
'yeah'
*starts playing scales* 💀💀
TBF - that's exactly what I would do as a violist between violinist to try to get eliminated early. An impostor would prefer to play it safe.
@@adamkozakiewicz6766 yea but that is just a general issue with these videos. They should let the viola player win if they get picked correctly and then just not let them play anything but the scale.
@@theelysium1597 I feel like the premise of this was a bit confusing because of this, but it was entertaining lol
@@adamkozakiewicz6766 the thing is, this game is all violinists are trying to pretend they are violists, so it is essentially 5 imposters
it is so obvious it wasn't him because he legit said "on viola?"
What I learned from this video: The best viola jokes are told by violists
There is an old video on Ray Chen's channel where he talks with one of his friends who is a violist. I won't spoil it for you in case you want to watch the video, but yeah... violists are definitely the best at telling viola jokes. 😄
Because we've heard them all before
Also, he was the sort of quietest from the beginning.
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopediathat was a fun video, and I liked how he explained the special differences in playing a viola vs violinist.
@@susanbryant6516 I have to say that it's been a long time and the video was 1 hour+ so I don't remember everything. I'll probably watch or listen to it again next week. 😊
(I mean the whole livestream, the video with just the joke lasts only a couple of minutes.)
Best viola joke of all time: The violin and viola are actually the same instrument, it's just violinists' heads are so big it makes their instrument look smaller.
That's a violin joke 🤣
violins are merely violas for babies with tiny hands and tiny eardrums which can't hear anything below middle C
Good one 🤣🤣
Bruh 😂
Omg
Great, now let’s do 5 Ling Lings vs 1 Prodigy!
great just have to find 5 people who were palying at -100000 years old
Don't you know that only 1 Ling Ling Goddess in the whole world? 😮 And she at least 1000 times better than any prodigy you can think of.
But what makes a prodigy?
Even if they are the are probably stil a Ling Ling too
Hilary Hahn
Sophie OuiOui
Jasmine Choi
Don Roberto
Ray Chen
Chloe Chua
Jasmine Choi plays flute though?
The violist is my viola teacher, so I knew right from the start. 😆 Seeing he got eliminated right from the start was the LOL moment
Wow hahah
He was my senior in school haha! Bonita too!
ofc the actual one seems extremely sus
Ngl he was the person I pegged as most likely to be a violinist!
**violist discovers Twoset** Wow! A classical music channel I can watch and relate to!
**watches two seconds of a twoset video** Oh..
**gets roasted continuously**
Yeah, its kind of a meme but I also feel like they take it too far. They offer such good encouragement for everything else its a shame they never have a break or video where a real violist can defend themselves.
@@elyk87 Their jokes and roasts are much more tame now compared to a few years ago. I have been following them for a long time and they definitely have made a lot of effort to talk about viola in a more positive light. But you know... "chassez le naturel, il revient au galop". (No idea how to translate this French saying, I'll let you use Google Translate. 😅)
I mean, even back when I was in orchestra in high school, like 14 years ago, it was common to roast the viola players.
@phantomlogic6940 I think that's the main issue. Brett and Eddy grew up in orchestra culture where violinists and violists have been roasting each other for ages, a little bit like siblings teasing each other. Since at the beginning of their channel their audience was classical musicians, it wasn't an issue. But with their success they gained a new (and young) audience who come from a non-classical world, don't understand the context and tend to take it at face value...
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia That's a good point. Even though I was a cellist, I still picked up on this, so hearing the roast wasn't a surprise. I also recall a bit of a friendly rivalry between us (the cellists) and the violinists (specifically the first violinists), though I'm not sure if that's common. We were the best sections of our orchestra, which was part of it, I think.
"Do you know any classical pieces?"
"On viola?"
*proceeds to play solfège syllables*
Le Twoset : *dies*
As a violinist with a friend group consisting of 50% violists I can confirm they indeed know the best viola jokes, they just don’t like when non-violists tell them 😂😂 (also they do stand up for themselves, I actually don’t remember how often they’ve destroyed me for disrespecting viola 💀😂)
it's like you must never take outside the (self-depreciating) inside joke? got it
Stay safe, brother. A violist and violinist cannot be “friends”, rather they are fated to be mortal enemies. They are planning to murder you.
"The best person to tell the viola jokes is the violist" 😎
There is an old video on Ray Chen's channel where he talks with one of his friends who is a violist. I won't spoil it for you in case you want to watch the video, but yeah... violists are definitely the best at telling viola jokes. 😄
Funny thing is that he was my first guess as the violist. How he answered in his first answer seemed very sincere.
@meganwong9508 Same, on the first round my instinct told me it was him ! Something about his relaxed behaviour, probably because he was the only one who had nothing to hide and didn't have to make up stories.
Please Eddy, make a game of bringing together several violinists and you have to find Brett 🥹🙏 You had fun putting Brett in difficult situations with musicians.
Amazing idea!
Yesssss
Bumping this!!! Pls!!
This is gold
YES!
‘I think I already know who the violist is’ -Brett Yang 2024
Famous last words
A professional orchestra is planning to tour different countries. Unfortunately, on the very night before their journey starts, the conductor comes down with a bad flu. They cannot find another conductor this quickly, and cancelling the entire tour would be way too expensive, so they look for a replacement within the orchestra.
As it turns out, one of the violists has conducting experience. So the orchestra goes on the tour and plays concerts in various cities, all of which are great successes.
Back home during the first orchestra practice with their recovered conductor, the rest of the violists come up to the one who conducted the entire tour: "Where have you been these past two months? We haven't seen you during the entire tour!"
LMFAOOO MY SIDESSS. I have to admit that was good. Holy moly. First time hearing that in my 5 years of playing the viola
Ok, that was really good
It took me way too long to understand this 💀☠
@@Chaiirrlosit's because they didn't look at the conductor the entire time
Omg!!!😂😂😂😂
Small suggestion, if we are doing this type of game next time, any chance to let each musician play a bit of their fav piece after answer reveal? Or at least play something together? Since you guys are trying to bring classical music to more people right, this is a good chance to let people who click in to have a taste of classical music. I know copy strike can be a thing, I'm sorry, just a small suggestion.
Good idea! I would like that! But in this case they were lying about their favourite piece of course ;) but still they could all have played something at the end!
putting together chamber music can be time-consuming and not everyone would be at the same level and it might be a little weird but a cool concept
Why do you often see violists standing in the street in front of their homes waiting?
They can’t find the key and they don’t know when to come in.
ooooh savage
IM A VIOLIST AND THATS MY FAV VIOLA JOKE LOL
Finally, an actual joke :) not just the childish: "What did the violinist say to the violist?" - "You're sh*t".
@@liamnevilleviolist1809Oh hey, you're still here! 😂 Hilarious.
brett eddying for the whole video with his sleeve
Nice sentence! A real inside joke 😂
We need another episode of Brett and Eddy with the OG viola try not to laugh challenges
ye agree!
YES PLEASE
Yess please😂
We need a lot of OG videos imo like violin charades
These are better
All jokes aside, viola is actually pretty nice to listen to. I remember going to this quartet performance when I was in uni, and the viola player really caught my attention cause he is so good. He made the viola really stand out, and he has thick vibrato, which really gives his playing a personality. Well, then when I read his introduction, he is actually a violinist, and he is a prize winner at the Menuhin competition (though many many years ago) lol But anyways, viola is a beautiful instrument, when you play it well (like all instruments).
and that’s on period
i agree!! it kind of depends on the player but everyone in my school orchestra sucks :(( wish we had some good viola players
@@ILOVELAUFEY_thats just sad
@@valengo137 it is though they have the whiniest tone
I actually love viola more than violin. I find violin to be too high pitched to my liking. Viola sits on the perfect spot between violin and cello + double bass.
the viola gang will rise up again
ofc the violist will get the mentally ill pfp
@@ragmamale4783 I'm beyond that now.
Idk what you’re taking about cuz viola was never up to begin with 🔥
No offense lol violists are cool
The Viola King is sitting there, waiting for his loyal knight to join him. But before that, the knight needs to pass both physical and mental tests to prove his loyalty to Voila.
I think the funniest part of this video is the subtitles struggling to understand whenever someone says violist.
The girl number 1 was right about the down-to-earth vibe of violists though! I'm a violinist, but I generally like the viola gang people a lot 😎
The poor violist being eliminated first 😂
The 2nd guy that played jazz on viola was impressive! His out-of-tune playing even made it jazzier🤣
"Top line on alto clef, what note is it?"
"G."
"OhHohohOhOhhoOH"
All the contestants had such chill vibes! And the violist's playing was beautiful 🤩 We love you, viola gang! ❤️❤️
The violist is the one glowing from the eternal beauty of the viola. Every time.
Would you guys please add subtitles. I watch your videos with my mom (she has some hearing problems) and subtitles in your older videos really helped her enjoy your humor. 😢
Totally agree. The auto generated ones weren't always correct. I have the same issues as your mum, especially in the echoey studio. The sound is a bit distorted.
Yeah, I turned them on bc so many of the words were indistinct. I'm hoping this is just a "We posted the video but are in the process of adding subtitles" though personally I wish the subtitles were ready when the video is posted initially
it would indeed be nice if they would spend some money on proper subs
I'm a bassoonist, and LOVE the sound of the viola! STOP THE VIOLA HATE!!!! hahahahahaha Maybe because one of my favorite bassoon solos was originally written for the viola. Weber's Andante and Hugarian Rondo.
4:35 those are fighting words 😂
also laughed when contestant number 2's voice literally cracked when he was talking about not liking the spotlight. The attention was getting to him, and he cracked under pressure lmao! Bless him!
I like these top production style videos, but I kinda miss the old vibes, just brett and eddy chillin
yeah, it felt way more intimate that way, maybe their podcast would provide the same feeling...
They have a podcast? What’s it called?
twoset talks@@evercuriousmichelle
hehe... i guess it's up to twoset themselves so..
Yes..I agree..it makes me happier than ever that they have been getting the success they deserve..but I miss the white wall and the gray squares..and just the normal hanging around vibe..
I correctly guessed the answer from the time they introduced themselves. The viola player sounds just relaxed and the joke was quite genuine. It's the only one that makes me think it's from experience. And the person also looked hilariously offended when someone else said their viola section is better 😂😂 I also thought Brett would've guessed the same as me since he's going based on vibes.
Janice's story sound too similar to the second and fourth, even sixth person. It sounds too much like indirect roasting (while also indirectly complimenting the violin). "I like viola bcs of the slack, bcs I failed violin, bcs I'm happy to be invisible, bcs we're the support for violins." The actual viola player is the one who didn't compliment the violin with his joke
While I studied music very briefly at one point a veteran teacher cracked a great joke about violists:
*_«What do a violist's fingers and lightning have in common? They never strike the same place twice!»_*
Lightning actually sometimes does, so the better version is: what's the difference?
Spontaneous Viola jokes from the audience and Eddy at the Auckland (NZ) leg of world tour last night. 😝 It was so great to see 2SV live! 🌟🌟 We learned that Eddy lived in Christchurch, and Brett in Hamilton when they were v young.😮
Yep, they talked about it in an old interview. After leaving Taiwan they first lived in New Zealand before moving to Australia.
If I remember well, Brett from age 5 to 12 and Eddy from 3 to 8.
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia Thanks! I knew about a NZ connection (from some minor references in other videos) but had no ideas what cities they were in.
Joke: What is the difference between a violin and a viola?
Violinist: A viola burns longer.
Violist: A viola holds more beer.
What is a burning violin good for? For starting a viola fire….
Do 5 classical music players vs 1 jazz player 💀
As a violist, I enjoyed it. Well done. 😎
The hoodie and t shirt are violist fashion staples, that should have been a giveaway as to his identity. I’m a violist, I should know 😅
2:14 Eddy has been Singaporean-ised!
(For info, “Majulah” means “onward” in Malay, and Majulah Singapura is the name of Singapore’s national anthem.)
I didn't even realize it because of the accent lmao
Thanks, I was waiting for someone to translate in the comments. 👍🏻
Are they living in Singapore now? They seem so connected
@@IgnorantSeeker they are based in Singapore now, it seems…
@@IgnorantSeeker Yes, they've been living there for several years now.
Your content is really motivating me to practice
Brett and Eddy. That "competition" was the most fun episode I have seen for such a while. I must note. #1. A beautiful, inifinite, white cyclorama came up so well on screen. #2. Very even and flattering lighting. All participants were shown in a very flattering mode. #3 Very good audio in a VERY difficult scenario. We were able to hear all the "victims" very clearly. #4. The set layout and interview dynamic worked extremely well.. #5. The cameras were well controlled and the live cutting was very good. #6 Your lovely "victims" were very relaxed and performed very well. I must say that the preproduction team have done an extremely good job to get this show to the very HIGH standard that we have seen. It is a fabulous concept. Congratulations to Brett and Eddy. You are so relaxed that you just go with your own instincts and the show carries itself. Please Brett, Eddy and minders and others. Get this concept rolling. I enjoyed it so much and I'm sure the other followers will agree that you will be on a roll with more of this. Thank You.
Loved the gig last night guys! Thanks for visiting NZ!
Twoset nails it as always 👍
Beautiful viola playing ❤
W content twoset!❤
Twoset finding new ways to roast violists😂
I would like to see it the other way around - in a bunch of violists, find a violinist. 🙃
I love these videos!
“I’ll take a nap and see how I feel” good trick
I'm loving these new gameshow-esque videos but maybe you should ocassionally bring back your other videos like Ling Ling 40 hours
The collective laughter in this video is the greatest thing ever!
Thank you for using the 4th movement of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for strings
I WENT TO YOUR CONCERT AND IT WAS EPIC I LOVED 🥰IT SO MUCH! I WAS IN THE MIDDLE ROW! ❤
I love your videoss❤❤
I loved their approach, it made it even more fun to me !
As a violinist whose dating a violist, I can confirm the best viola jokes come from the violists themselves
I think you people should drop another vedio with producer Shaun 😂😂
probaly as soon as they are finishing the tour and back to Brisbane ( in February)
Hey two set !! I'm going to your concert tomorrow!!!!!!I can't wait I'm now writing a card for you guys you guys are my idols I don't think I'll sleep tonight!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Just finished my 40 hours of practice, time to enjoy some 2set 😌
Except I'm a violist
I always just assume it's the first or second person they've eliminated.
welcome to singapore twoset!
I guessed it. These people were such good sports and this was fun!!!🥰
i went to the new zealand world tour just 2 days ago and now watching twoset's videos they feel so much better
bro, I WAS IN AUCKLAND that day, and was looking for brett and eddy the whole time 🤣🤣
lol🤣
weren't they napping?
@@sayublueberry haha probably lol,
i swear i saw them one time, probably some random people though 🤣🤣.
Oh I was wrong! Thought contestant No.2 (Jeffrey Tan?) was the violist.
Fun episode! Lively lovely guests!
My mother once called the viola "the bootylicious violin", so that's what viola is in my brain ever since haha
Lmao i was literally just checking for new videos and it popped up
love it!
Not me always making fun of my friends who play viola lollll…. But in all honesty, violists are the nicest people out there. Keep up the good content Brett and Eddy!!
WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT TWO SET VIOLIN IS DA BESTTT
Keep up the work ❤❤
Great show!
Brilliant!
I would think a real violist would talk about the sound of the instrument. That is the reason to be a violist!👏👏
0:03 that wink and confidence! I think I’m in love!😆🤣
as a violist i gotta watch this and judge the violinists
Thank you for inspiring me to return to violin after 20 years. Watch out Ling Ling! I’m coming for your chair!!
These videos are great, but man I miss the og videos that were never in focus.
hi Brett and Eddy i've been waiting for the next episode tysm
like 很期待 you know? (if yall can read)❤
I think you should invite Amichai Grosz, the lead viola of the Berlin Philharmonic ... WDYT?
CELLISTS NEXT PLEASE 🙏❤
Thoroughly entertaining. Laughed a lot. Thank you!
As a violist who just got yelled at for intonation, that number her viola joke was a personal attack
I love Viola.
Viola gang here
This is golden!
I love this episode
Comment number 17! Also I love your videos ❤
You guys should have a roast-off between violist and violinist
When the viola gang rise up
I feel summoned... (I am a violist)
Violists unite
Majulah viola!(onward viola)
How many violists does it take to change a lightbulb? Just one, but they'll complain that it's too high for them to reach!
I've been getting a bit too inspired by this video now-
(jk, viola gang, we love you)
How many violinists does it take to change a lightbulb?
1, they hold onto it and wait for the world to revolve around them 😆
@@paulhawkin9147that made me giggl
y’all forget that us violists absolutely love viola jokes…
Nice video 😀😀
As a viola maker I loved it!
thank u!
Wish you asked the guy on the right more at the end. I was impressed he knew the Clarke Viola Sonata and top note of the alto clef.
Viola gang here..Fun game! But I have a question regarding an old series: When Eddy did the Viola KIng skits and kidnapped violinist Brett, part two ends with "to be continued" ...Did they ever do a part 3?
don't think so
Eddy should try to guess who is Brett in a series of interviews and fun games as well with like masked voice and stuff!!
YESSS
Watching two set while dining bubble tea is peak
I knew it!!!! My guess from start to finish was the same person & I was right!
Surely it helps to have long arms and fingers, also to play the viola? I have huge arms and a 17" viola will look like a violin on Brett and Eddy.
"i'll take a nap and see how i feel after" my goal in life
